Zutons
This weather is a joke I will say again that I have no issue whatsoever with facts being discussed, but accusations and allegations are another thing entirely..

Flyerton
Well, if the scientists are correct about what they say about global warming and the Greenland ice sheet melting (it already is), this will be regular winter weather this century. We will probably have consistently colder winters by mid century. This may be sooner. It's all down to the Atlantic Ocean and the warming Gulf Stream current that keeps us mainly snow free in winter. The Gulf Steam current will apparently not come so far north due to the Greenland ice melt.

Alibi
I don't think the current cold spell is anything to do with any fundamental change in the North Atlantic Drift. It's winter - cold spells happen. This isn't a particularly cold spell actually, no worse than what we saw regularly in the 50s and 60s. BTW if it turns out that man made global warming is indeed a myth, will we all be forced by taxation into driving around in 6 litre V12s? "Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."
