After todays performance he has every chance of getting to the final. Hope he goes all the way.

Federer's wife is due any day so his concentration might not be totally 100%

He played perfectly against a poor opponent tonight, disposed of him convincingly, which you expect of a championship contender, but week two is where the real quality opponents will come.

He can do it, but if he faces Federer, I'd say there is a 50-50 chance and a guaranteed classic final.

Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken Caesar!"

I don't know if he can do it but the thought of all those commentators drooling at the prospect fills me with dread.

The over expectation by some its hardly a mainstream sport and like it or not if the facilities aren't there the chance of creating a champion will be slim.

Murray has spent the majority of his time in the game in the US where they are will to pay for the best facilities to ensure a conveyor belt of individual sportsmen/women.

Federer was right when he said murray wont beat him when it really matters ..... if the 2 of them make it to the final federer will win in straight sets :P

Federer is just different class.

Bang on. Federer has a different gear when it comes to the crunch. Good luck to him anyway.

I think you are being a bit unfair on Murray. His recent record against Federer is 6-2 in Murray's favour. OK one of the losses was in the final of the US Open but the way the draw worked, Federer had had a straight sets easy semi two days before the final. Murray had a five set epic to put out Nadal the day before which meant he was not fully recovered mentally or physically.

Potentially this time, Murray has maybe an easier run to the final and Federer may have to beat Djokovic in the semi which could have a similar effect on him as the Nadal match had on Murray.

Plus, Federer is getting near the end of his career whereas Murray just keeps improving year on year. He's better now than he was last year when he got to the US final.

I hope to see that big girl's blouse Federer greetin' again. ^_^

I don't think I am being unfair on Murray and to be honest I wasn't really talking about him specifically, just saying that Federer raises his games at the big ones to a different level and even when he's under pressure in a big match he pulls something extra out that most players just don't have. I don't think his recent record counts for much Federer wants to win Opens, he's been to 15 out of the last 16 finals, and be the best of all time and when thats been the case he got the job done against Murray. As I said good luck to the lad anyway, I'll be happy to say well done if he does beat him.

Would it not be worth it that the fact it may be a Scotsman who ends the years of waiting for them and the little Englanders. Thas GOT to stick in their throats. :D

Of course if Murray fails he may just be ripped to shreds by those who have raised him to the ridiculous saviour like status.

It was Spain, as he wasn't getting the support he needed from the LTA. This is his best chance in years. He just needs to take his form against Federer in wee tournaments into a big one. He's much fitter than he was in the US final, and he seems to be pacing himself. All looking promising.
