Bryan, have been saying since after the Gretna game that we should play a formation like that, and would probably side with that team.

Def don't think we can afford 3 forward players and feel that it is too easy for the wingbacks to basically bypass the midfield leaving Alex and Chris struggling in the middle doing thw work of 3 or 4 men.

I also feel that McLarens best position is in the centre as he has always got goals when playing there for us (look at his 1st game and on Sat when he went up front)

It's also good to be in a position with playing 4 very competent midfielders that we can really put our foot on the ball, hold onto posession and dominate a game. With McLaren, McAllister and Finlayson basically being attack minded players in a kinda floating role it's looking like all or nothing with us either getting a shot on goal or losing posession.

Wht not revert to the old school-style of all 11 players chasing the ball?

AT

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

I'd go for a 2-3-5....it was good enough for us to win a Scottish Cup, so surely we could use it to beat a bunch of Rugby loving farmers?

i suspect that's what jim will play - ie. the same line-up and formation that played gretna, raith and ayr, but i'd rather see jason start ahead of templeman.

dunno if anyone else noticed but we went to a 2-3-5 at the end of the ayr game which seemed to go like this:

mcgurn

greacen - harding

millar - a.walker - mcallister

finlayson - lilley - weatherson - j.walker - mclaren

i think it would be a bit daft to start with that formation in a league game, but maybe it would be worth trying it in a friendly at some point to see if it would actually work ... it'll probably just end up being a 5-0-5 with big punts up the park, though ...

Why? Because it's the same team we've played in every game so far this season?

Wow! You two should become palm readers!

No cos it's the formation that's been used the past few games and apart from the Ayr game it has worked well. Alex Walker is a holding midfielder so he should play in front of the defence and Andy McLaren is an attacking midfielder so he should play in behind Lilley and Templeman. We don't need to be palm readers to work out that's our best formation just now!
