  1. I hope if today is the day the run goes the fans don't turn on the team. If anything they deserve acknowledgement for a tremendous effort. This wasn't going to last forever. Fingers crossed we can turn it around though.

  2. Completely agree. I know Alex Samuel is a religious boy, but he took the Lazarus act too far today.

  3. Bad day at the office, without Oakley we have no threat, back to the drawing board. No point in tears and snotters, we just had a record-breaking run and now we're back down to earth, it'll happen. Got to stay right behind Dougie and the team.

  4. Believe I questioned it last week, but I genuinely don’t think we have won a game this season that Oakley hasn’t been involved in? He is such a crucial player to us and plays that role in a way nobody else is capable of. Muirhead gave a lot of effort today but was not capable of the levels Oakley has achieved this season. Oakley will be a massive loss for the next few games and I just hope his injury isn’t long term or else I can see us hitting another sticky patch. Thankful that results today went our way Don’t think mcgrattan took his chance at all today either, I understand he hasn’t played much football recently especially from the start but he was extremely ineffective that I actually forgot he was on the pitch when he got hooked off. Macdonald is miles off it and I assume he is not fit. Looked a Really poor second goal to lose. Plaudits to Inverness who came with a game plan and played it perfectly and their antics e.g time wasting, diving, getting in the refs face, milking every bit of contact, won over the referee and added to our supports frustration which is exactly what they would have wanted.

  5. One thing that’s been apparent over the last three (Airdrie, Raith and ICT) is that opposition players appear to be throwing themselves to the deck at even the slightest contact…….and the referee’s keep buying it, awarding multiple fouls against us. Today was laughable and ICT came with a game plan, as well as a plan to get into the head of the ref and stand side line-o. And it worked. I don’t think it’s naïveté on our part, but we need to manage that aspect of our game better if other teams are playing up to the big bad Morton rhetoric and going down like there’s a sniper in the stand …….so, if yer going to foul the opposition, make it a good one and at least leave something on them……

  6. We didn't have a rhythm before that either and could be playing now and still wouldn't have scored. Perhaps if French spent less of the first half complaining to the referee and more time dealing with basic defensive tasks and passing the ball to a team mate, we might have had a different result. The fixation with refereeing decisions was a distraction from the actual issues.

  7. When the system works properly, we don't rely on Oakley as a target man. We also get the ball back from pressing and winning second balls* in dangerous situations on a regular basis. The bigger issue today was that the four players behind Muirhead didn't press effectively at all. Garrity was the most effective of the four on the ball, whereas McGrattan was both anonymous in possession and a headless chicken off it until he got a bad hit and came off. Blues and Crawford looked a yard off the pace too, which at least in their cases could be seen as the impact of the fixture list. You can't have both game plans completely fail and expect to get anything from the game, but there's no decisive reason why that plan shouldn't still work in Oakley's absence. * Not just a midfield issue: we lost too many 50-50s and second balls in every area of the park in the first hour, including at the first goal. It was just a write-off performance all round.

  8. What a shame. I fondly hoped that our unbeaten run would end in a blaze of glory against Hearts. Sad that it's ended in a whimper at the hands of teuchter relegation candidates. But nothing will ever take away from the magnificent run. Huge admiration for Dougie and the team. Let's hope that our key players return soon. Mon eh Ton.

  9. The referee could have been the second coming of Pierluigi Collina and we still wouldn't have won today. Far too many players underperformed from the first minute, French and McGrattan shut down our right game side all by themselves.

  10. This is very reminiscent of the early season performances when Oakley was injured. We're clueless in possession without him, Muirhead is not a centre forward in this system. He is not making the correct runs and can't hold anything up Chocolate wrists MacDonald is pish btw

  11. Dougie was on A View from the Terrace there on BBC Scotland. Came across very well, as ever.
