MacDonald's goal, filmed from the home end. Lots of seethe. http://youtu.be/Jo8j-BjaGRE 1998 - St. Mirren 3-2 Morton (Blair, Mahood) Rearranged game from New Year. 3-0 down after an hour and going nowhere until Paul Blair hit a peach of a half volley. Alan Mahood then volleyed in a low cross and suddenly St. Mirren were all over the place. We ran out of time to get the 3rd. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
January 7th - 1939 - Dunfermline 1-1 Morton (abandoned after 73 minutes). The records show that we lost this 5-2 but the newspaper report I have states that this was one of only 6 games to start after the frozen weather had set in, and that our game was abandoned 17 minutes from time with the score at 1-1. A few weeks later we lost 5-2 in the cup at Dunfermline. Bit of coincidence, so I'm wondering if the cup result was allowed to count for both competitions. 1933 - Morton 0-1 Celtic 1928 - Morton 3-1 Leith Athletic 1922 - Morton 2-0 F*lk*rk (McNab, McMinn) 1911 - Morton 2-3 St. Mirren (Gracie, Bolton) 1905 - Morton 1-3 St. Mirren (Roberts) McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
January 8th - 2002 - Clydebank 1-2 Morton (O'Connor, Wright) Our last away game against Clydebank, albeit played at Cappielow. Also Sean O'Connor would only score once more for us after this game. 2000 - Inverness C.T. 6-2 Morton (McPherson, Matheson) Having seen the side he'd put together being dismantled and a poor run of results, Billy Stark resigned as manager following this game. http://youtu.be/NvDeq8_VEkQ 1997 - Stirling Albion 4-3 Morton (Blair, Lilley, Anderson) Under no pressure, Brian Reid scored one of Stirling's goals with a powerful pass-back header through Wylie's hands. 1994 - Morton 1-1 Brechin City (Hunter) Jim Hunter's only goal for Morton. 1983 - Aberdeen 2-0 Morton 1977 - Dundee 3-2 Morton (Brown, Ritchie) 1972 - Morton 1-1 Celtic (og) 1966 - Hibernian 4-1 Morton (Smith) 1955 - Morton 3-1 Cowdenbeath (Hannigan 2, Hinshelwood) 1949 - Morton 0-0 Celtic McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
January 9th - 2016 - Livingston 0-1 Morton (O'Ware) Scottish Cup. http://youtu.be/OXxLAaOTlb8 1996 - St. Johnstone 6-1 Morton (Lindberg) A shambles. With McGraw still recovering, Cormack was in charge and fecked up badly. O'Boyle tore us up in the opening quarter of an hour. After the break we looked up for it and Janne scored a peach. We genuinely looked like getting back into it when Cormack decided to sub the whole midfield. They then scored another three quite easily. 1995 - Queen's Park 2-2 Morton (Alexander, Anderson) Scottish Cup. A mate of mine played for Queen's Park and was gutted at being injured and not being able to play against the team he supported. When John Anderson put us 2-0 up on the hour, we got the all too familiar "sit on what you've got" tactic. No one was surprised to see us concede the 2nd in injury time. 1993 - Arbroath 3-0 Morton Scottish Cup. Another chambles. 1990 - Partick Thistle 1-2 Morton (McGraw, Alexander) This was hilarious. Fresh from being gubbed at Airdrie, we could still rely on Partick to gift us points. Ian MacDonald got shouted at by both sets of fans. 1988 - Rangers 5-0 Morton Clean sheet for an hour then we caved in. Radio commentator said that the Morton fans were on their feet applauding the skills of Mark Walters, when in fact they had been applauding Karsten Margaard putting him up in the air after ending a silky run. There was a story that casuals had taken bananas but were spotted and then forced to sit and eat them. Shocking if true but it may just be an urban myth. We'd now lost 15 goals in three games to Rangers. 1971 - Dundee United 2-3 Morton (Bartram 2, Hannigan) 1965 - Morton 5-0 Airdrieonians (Caven, Sørensen, McGraw 2, Wilson) 1960 - Queen's Park 2-0 Morton 1954 - Kilmarnock 2-0 Morton McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
