If our two goalkeepers going into the season are Woods and Murdoch then Woods is getting the nod every day of the week. You don’t play that many games in the English Championship and the Scottish Premiership if you’re hopeless. I don’t want him as number one, but as far as a backup goalie goes at this level he’s fine.
I’m pretty sure in Murdoch’s performances last year there was a fair bit of extra protection from the defence to compensate for having a kid in goal, and you can’t sustain that over a season.
I think the comparison with McKenna stops at their age. Is McKenna not a bit of a unit? Murdoch on the other hand isn’t just wee for a keeper, he’s wee for a footballer. I think we’re hoping for a bit of filling out as they to happen there.
