NewTon
It may be radical, but perhaps McInally could take a leaf out of Belichick's book ? New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has been fined $US500,000 for using video to tape an opponent's touchline signals, the National Football League said. Belichick's infringement of NFL rules came during Sunday's game against the New York Jets. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also ruled that the Patriots would forfeit their first-round draft choice in 2008 if they reach the playoffs, or their own second-round and third-round picks if they do not qualify for the playoffs. The team was also fined $US250,000. "This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field," Goodell wrote in a letter to the Patriots. The fine of $US500,000 imposed on Belichick is the highest possible financial sanction available to the NFL. The Patriots won Sunday's game 38-14 but Goodell ruled that the videotaping did not influence the outcome.
