TRVMP Posted January 7, 2016 Share Posted January 7, 2016 That's surely more of an issue with the rest of the team not making themselves available than with McKee (or anyone else) though. It's a pretty common feature of Morton's play that nominally attacking players are having to go maybe 20 yards deeper to get the ball than they should have to - look at the Raith game, their full-back was clearly poor yet Barr was always getting the ball inside his own half rather and subsequently having to take on two or three defenders and over half the pitch rather than getting right on top of the full-back and trying to create one-on-ones. I remember reading after the St. Mirren game that McManus was dropping back as far as the edge of the Morton box. I agree with this - it's been the better part of a decade since Jim McInally was training us on passing through phases of play, and we've gone through how many players and managers since then with little change.
