Talk about taking yourselves too seriously. My comment was in jest at the hyperbolic nonsense after Murray has been in charge for one game. Anyone at the game could see the core issue was players failing to do their basic defensive duties. Murray was going apoplectic on the sidelines. Once we were chasing the game Murray had limited options given the injuries on the park and what was on the bench. This is down to the bloated squad assembled by Imrie.

The only problem might be - you cannae polish a turd.

Watch the highlights and please explain how Murray is in anyway to blame for players switching off. Our limited resources at centre back meant we had limited options for substitutions. Wilson and Shaw may offer more height than most of our sand dancing midgets but they are not known for being great in the air. The true test for Murray is what happens next.

I'm not sure how you can blame Murray for players failing to do the basics. At all three set pieces the 'right' people were matched up with the opposition runners but just switched off and not for the first time this season. Naysmith said in his post match comments that Stenhousemuir did not play well. They targeted Morton as a team lacking height and physicality hence vulnerable at set pieces. The test for Murray is what happens next.

Until we get some height, physicality and leadership into the squad we are going to be vulnerable to teams with big boys going direct. The current lack of confidence in the squad is understandable but someone has to stand up and take ownership. The onus has to fall on the experienced pros in the squad. I'm not sure about anyone else but I am pitching up at games just now hoping to avoid embarrassment and to see the odd goal for Morton - a win seems overly optimistic.

Fair play to Morton - we have burst the myth about a new manager bounce. Another Groundhog Saturday where we look mildly competent for parts of a game before reverting to type as a home for spineless sand-dancing duds. While I can accept Imrie deserves some credit for getting the odd tune out of these chancers, the man also rightly deserves to be called out for the bloated unbalanced squad he assembled this season. Today was another painful watch. We never looked like we had the belief to score and at the other end of the park we showed no desire to defend. It really is difficult to see a positive moving forward. As for Moore he limped off leaving us even barer in the centre back cupboard while Crawford just after coming on looked to pull up holding his hamstring. If Murray manages to keep us up this season it will be a massive achievement.

It has it on Transfermarkt

Big Tomi tuned out weeks ago. His general demeanour is he would rather be anywhere else than playing for Morton. The only issue may be is his contract not up to the end of this season?

Can we not just get your namesake to invade Kilmacolm and make it part of the USA?
-
I'm just relieved he never inherited the kit with tape over the previous incumbents initials.

Big-spending Partick - Ian Murray's Morton
HamCam replied to TRVMP's topic in General Morton Chatter
For those shouting for Ballantyne they were clearly not in attendance up in Perth. None of our defenders appear able to stay focused for 90 minutes. We lack belief and we lack leadership. There is some ability in the squad but you would find more backbone in a jellyfish. Best of luck to Ian Murray. -

While MCT should have reflected more on publishing the Laird resignation on the club website they have subsequently acknowledged it was a mistake. I struggle to buy into the notion though it can be interpreted as siding with Laird. I have always had reservations about MCT but I have never doubted it is a well intentioned organisation staffed by volunteers. The important thing now is to regroup and move on. Appointing Murray looks to be a step in the right direction.

Talk about dodging a bullet. Until Laird flounced off he was actively looking at Michael Tidser, Allan Johnston, John Rankin and James McPake. The man was trolling us with a short list of candidates aimed at alienating fans. Kelty after a seven figure compensation package for Michael Tidser! On the plus side if we are offering an 18 month deal to Ian Murray it suggests Dalrada are still on board.
