King may be remembered, as you say, with rose tinted glasses owing to his very occasional display of an ability to dribble by two or three opposition players with a sharp turn or a drop of the shoulder. He also had an occasional good effort from distance that could be quite memorable. But we’re talking about two, maybe three instances of each in total across all of his first team appearances. Like Mark Russell, in a sense, but far fewer starts at the same stage of his career.

Happy to stay up and avoid the playoffs. Good riddance to the season!

I just don’t understand why the manager would persist with selections that have simply not been working. Wilson at one point performed admirably out of position when injuries had racked up at centre back, but he should not be played there at a cost to the midfield when actual centre backs are available. I’m obviously still rooting for the team and hoping for a positive result but fear this selection could do us real harm.

Move Iredale to left back and maybe Stuart Findlay as left side centre back?

It’s been a welcome surprise to see Gillespie has been able to consistently play for 90 minutes this season, given he hadn’t been a regular in previous seasons and generally looked only able to do 60-75 minutes before running out of gas. Looking forward, Murray will likely be looking for someone of a similar ilk, but with a bit more pace and a few years younger, but keeping a good professional and role model like Gillespie in the squad for another season still has an appeal, particularly if more fringe members move on.
