MCT just seems completely unfit for purpose in its current guise. We need to clear the decks again

MCT just dropped an email to members saying they are still working with Estrella to put together a new deal. Email below for those who are interested Dear MCT Members, The MCT Board would like to acknowledge that the Estrella proposition did not get to a full MCT Member vote after the AGM of 17 August and at present we do not know if it would be supported by members. For example, the then MCT Board sending the incomplete Investment Agreement (IA) to MCT Members two days before the AGM without the prior permission of Estrella, and without any accompanying context on the agreed terms and conditions under which the investment would be made, was a mistake. Additionally, allowing the suggestion that Estrella would secure majority control of your Morton to perpetuate across the community was an error which caused big confusion across the MCT Membership and beyond. The MCT Membership control of your Morton was always going to remain if the Estrella proposition was supported by MCT Members. We take joint responsibility for not allowing MCT Members' their right, all of whom are together owners of Greenock Morton Football Club, to be well informed and able together to make a key individual decision on the future of your Morton FC. The MCT Board and Estrella believe that as part of the safeguarding, modernisation and improvement of Morton and all it stands for and could be, a strong partnership between MCT and Estrella FG and the other key partners at GMFC Ltd including Morton In the Community, under the ongoing opportunity of Morton being Community Owned, is an exciting and viable option. Both MCT Board and Estrella Football Group were and still are keen to get the Estrella proposition back on track and have been discussing this in the days since the AGM to see whether the investment is still viable. Together with Estrella, we are currently exploring under which terms and conditions a potential investment can be structured. We are working hard behind the scenes to come to an agreement on these terms and conditions that could truly bring our club to the next level. Of course, where any significant decision around Morton FC is required, the MCT Membership is the body who makes these decisions democratically. This is a fundamental facet of MCT and what makes the safety and success of our Club (and Cappielow) so strong. So, for example, where any proposal to invest in Morton FC is on the table, this will be shared with MCT Members who will be engaged and will make decisions about such matters. The proposal currently on the table will be shared with you once Estrella and the MCT Board believe the proposal should be placed back before our members. Significant due diligence work has already been done, and extensive negotiations have been held. Estrella still strongly believes in the project at your club, and have the best interests of Morton at heart. We will continue our conversations with Estrella with urgency, and will be very transparent about the process. Updates will be sent to you when appropriate, and we hope to come back with good news about a potential investment, for which we would be excited to get your approval during an MCT Members' vote. According to MCT news letter emailed this morning. We still remain in discussions with Estrella regarding investment, along with the local consortium.

Just can't help but feel we would doomed regardless of whats going on. We cant score a goal from inside the 6 yard box and then lose a last minute winner. Utterly sick.

Time to start public fundraising and make use of the media spotlight. Its already embarrassing where we are at and whats being reported on, we may aswell just see if there's someone out there whos willing to help us out. Plus it gives non MCT members an opportunity to support the club outside of tickets & merchandise.

Its mental how's it gone from both Estrella MCT & GMFC being so positive at the first vote to both of them now being at war with each other. I dont understand why Estrella are even hanging about at this stage but his relationship is already poisoned.

So in the rush to provide the MCT members with something before the vote, they have gone ahead a sent out an unfinalised draft of the agreement without first tying in with Estrella and caused an uproar with its membership over somethint estrella have had to clarify themselves on LinkedIn. Great start lads.

Behind on season tickets is purely down to the shambolic final quarter of last season, we had zero momentum and no positivity going into the close season.

Might be a case of supplementing an core squad with estrella funds (should we go ahead) I wonder how much tighter the initial budget is for next season.
