There's probably some of that in it, but not in a nefarious way. He worked with him before and seems to genuinely like his attitude and knowledge, so perhaps out of hope as much as expectation he recommended him. People use their connections in this way all the time and in all walks of life. The difference is that in most walks of life there aren't hundreds of paying punters watching the new hire's every move.

Carpet in a gym?

Was thinking that was weird, but presumably it's only in certain areas. Depending on the flooring material it might be to lessen the impact from dropped free weights. Or maybe he's as good at selecting underfoot fabric as he is choosing professional footballers.

You were making him sound like Barry Bennell's Alky twin last week, all because he found a keeper from the Ecky Thump leagues.

Don't forget, Pat Bonner Came from Kedue Rovers from Co. Donegal. :)

Yeah yeah, and Jamie Vardy came from Stocksbridge Park. But for every one player like that, there's literally thousands who are at that level for a reason (e.g. Sam Ramsbottom.)

If your job is literally to train goalkeepers and also to scout talent, it's really not unreasonable to expect that you can spot one who's capable of holding onto a football.

So, is Timmins now a good guy?

Possibly a good guy, just a completely second-rate "scout".

My favourite line of the night was - "We're building a club, not just a team"

Obviously wasn't there but I can get behind that. It's the only way clubs like Morton have a long-term future in professional football.
