  1. I've always had a lot of time for Kettlewell, even as a player, and I think he will have his team well-drilled tomorrow. However, we're a match for anyone right now. Remember, at a far worse ebb than this we gave Rangers a decent game at Ibrox.
  2. He quit, he wasn't pushed. Given that Dougie's been given guarantees about the budget at Cappielow I'd also think twice about moving if I was him, but if we put pro-Morton bias to one side, County simply is a job that's bigger, more visible, and with less pressure.
  3. County have a wealthy backer who is very patient and a recent history of top flight football, and even cup success. Morton do not have any of these things. I am full of admiration for how both MCT and Dougie have gone about things but without Dougie there's every chance our budgetary position begins to show itself and we end up in League 1 as often as not. County would be a significant step up from Morton in every respect except perhaps fan expectations and if Imrie wanted to climb the managerial ladder to a Hibs or even a Wigan or something he'd do much better in Dingwall than Greenock.
  4. I agree. He'd be a great fit there but they're more likely to look elsewhere.
  5. George looks a bit like Bob Mortimer in Catterick. How many awards is that for Dougie now? He'll need to get a storage unit at this rate.
  6. Aye, it's a bit of a Grimshaw situation - guy perhaps playing slightly below his level gets a run in the team, gets his form back, and gets a bigger contract elsewhere as a result. There are much worse problems to have, of course, such as not getting those players at all, as is happening to failing Dunfermline Athletic, who have a very bad squad filled with "youngsters"! Sad!
  7. Oakley is a Sherman tank. Invaluable for us. We'll do well to hold onto him.
  8. 12 undefeated. 9 clean sheets in 13. Absolute obscenity.
  9. I highly doubt we'd price him out of a move. He's very ambitious and wouldn't have signed a deal if we were going to tie him here forever. All hypothetical at the moment anyway. All that matters right now is Motherwell on Friday.
  10. It's a case of when, not if, Dougie moves up but I don't think Aberdeen will take the chance. Their loss, our gain.
  11. Allegedly 350k plus future clauses.
  12. Oh. Well, don't I feel stupid. Right, let me save face by quickly coming up with why it's still a bad idea (even though it might not be a bad idea.) Umm... wee neds will gob on it.
  13. Probably because letting people watch for free from outside is a really bad idea when the correct solution is just to fix the queuing system. Inside the ground you can do things like regulate unaccompanied children; outside you're much less limited in what you can do.
  14. "Astonishing" really is the word when you see actual top-level pros having a kickabout. I don't mean marginal guys but the absolute top-level internationals, they can be pushing 50 and unfit but you can tell immediately they aren't like mortal men. No doubt they worked hard to have the career they did but it would also be deeply obvious that they just "had it" and if they applied themselves they'd go on to great things.
  15. I always thought he should have had more pitch time with us.
  16. Mortonbros we're all gonna make it
  17. Yes, the Welsh Premier is where Declan plays for TNS.
  18. Interesting one. The top clubs in the Welsh league are probably mid-table League One. If there was a guy in the diddy Falkirk league with those kind of numbers, Championship clubs would be sniffing around. It's a risk, of course, but if the club's done their homework then hopefully it'll work out.
  19. Welsh lad's 28, that'd be a bit of an odd one. Normally it's younger guys who get a chance at full-time football. We will see.
  20. They've been doing that for years but oddly enough, since this isn't the World Cup final, people aren't that enthusiastic about standing around in the street in a badly-managed crowd with no visible queue lines so that they can have a 20% chance of their ticket scan not working. I guarantee people are showing up earlier than they used to on average, but even showing up at 2:40 isn't sufficient anymore. Hence the problem now lies entirely with the club and not the fans.
  21. Remove the middle paragraph and it's a perfect statement.
  22. Attendance 3,568. Hospitality MOTM was Crawford, unsurprisingly. Feels like two points dropped but in the second half it could have gone either way, really.
  23. I have to say the ref has made a couple of weird decisions but in terms of controlling a bad-tempered game he's done an excellent job. After being hacked down there Jai was furious but the ref intervened immediately and got the Partick tosser away from the situation. Not sure what the additional two bookings were about (one for Strapp?) though.
