Aye, had a look a few weeks ago when the closure was announced and the path seemed to just go straight through to the main road. I didn't know if they had any works planned for there as well but it seemed like the best alterative route from that end.

Could you not also take the tunnel at the bottom of Ladyburn Street to the main road?

I think the kids need to realise that the 'spend lots of money' line is a terrible one to go down. The ones under 16 pay £5 entry and come clad in their own merchandise, meanwhile increasing costs for Morton to police games. The message should be abundantly clear - as long as they are causing trouble, Morton are subsidising their hobby, not the other way round. When I arrived at the game against Hamilton a couple of weeks ago, there were a bunch of them trying to start a fight with Hamilton fans and others kicking up a fuss about being searched on the way in. They then enter the ground and start singing their wee 'Morton Hooligan' song and then singing about supporting their club not being a crime. There are plenty among them causing trouble and then immediately playing the victim card. They say things about being the future of the support, but for the first time ever I was glad my wee girl didn't come along with me to a Morton match - some of these boys have no idea where to draw the line. It's not pleasant. The problem is that it has become a fad among pretty much all clubs, and they're all wee copies of each other. They sing the same songs, throw flares about the place, and do stupid stuff like trying to steal each others scarves. For many of them the football is a pretence to play the hooligan - it's not about Morton, per se, and there's no long term benefit for Morton in this, because once the fad wears out, they'll be away. I'd say that when some of these lads started following Morton the whole thing was welcome, but it has turned sour over the last year or so. There's definitely a group in there that should be encouraged, welcomed, and made to feel like an important part of the club but as long as they're so closely attached to those creating trouble that's very difficult to do. Don't try to start fights. Don't try to steal scarves. Don't throw flares (and other objects) about the place - especially when there is no consideration over who is going to get hit. Drop the song about being hooligans. And don't try to play the victim card when this behaviour is called out. None of this is about supporting the club. (I'd also say drop the black hoodies and balaclavas/scarves over face - but mostly cause it's cringey and just makes every club's set of supporters look identical).

Looks like (hopefully) that's a late winner for Hibs which prevents us from losing another Saturday match at Cappielow. I was starting to get slightly concerned.
-
With Reynolds fully returning to the squad, I certainly think that's stronger than losing Samuels. King is a different one. He didn't play much, so we're not losing much, but I thought he was good in the limited time he got. I certainly don't think the squad is immediately any weaker. Garrity would've been a loss. We can't afford to lose any goal threats right now. That being said, I'm not against accepting any sort of decent money for a player who has started less than half of our league games this season. Glad he's staying, though - they can return with a better bid in May if they want.
-
Last time we saw King at Cappielow, he had a belter of a sub appearance against Ayr. You could clearly see the talent there (more than we've seen from Lyall). But for whatever reason, Imrie hasn't been able to mould that talent into a player he can rely on. Sometimes that's just on the player himself, sometimes the manager has to take some responsibility.

Delighted for Blues. Completely deserved.

Patrick loaning out Diack might be purely financial from their point of view - and a Championship club could be their best bet of covering his wages. We're probably lacking an option like him right now and they've maybe got more pressing issues they want to address in their squad. A move to Airdrie is probably the one that makes the most sense all round though.
-
Strapp's signed for Airdrie.

That's because no-one really had any bad feelings towards Graham before he started making up weird, inaccurate sob stories about being treated horribly by the big bad Morton fans - and even then, he had to be really loud and continuous about it to make us notice. He genuinely could've been well thought of as an ex player by Morton fans if he chose to be, but he's more than a bit too arrogant for that.
-
Davies reminds me a bit of Andy Dallas, who we had on loan from Rangers in the 18/19 season (probably with a higher work ethic). You can see that he's trying but his touch has been a bit heavy, he's been very poor with the chances he's had, and he's struggling to get on the ball. I can't quite figure out what type of player he's meant to be - he's not shown great speed, he's not a target man, he doesn't seem to want to take his man on. That's the feeling I had with a player like Dallas as well (who has gone on to have a decent scoring record in the National League in England)- I'm not sure what he's meant to be. It might be that he's going to show himself to be a good goalscorer who just needs that bit of confidence to get going - lets hope so. Like Dallas has gone on to show, there is a level and situation in which Davies has scored goals. We shouldn't forget that good goalscorers are very difficult to find at our level. And I don't blame Dougie for trying to be inventive to find one. It's still early days, there are loads of reasons why players can be off form (not being very good is the most common one, but there are plenty of other reasons) so hopefully Reynolds and Davies will make us look silly for doubting them - but they haven't made a good first impression.
-
The last half hour against Falkirk is the only time Reynolds has been on the pitch without Davies (who had more playing time than Reynolds in the League Cup). I think the fact that you can't really comment on Davies yet is incredibly telling (and a bit unfair on Reynolds who is actually involved enough to not look very good). The problem is that it's a step up in level for both of them, and they're struggling with that. It's early days and they might settle, but it's the kind of risk clubs take any time they take a player from a lower level of football (or part-time football).
-
It's because no-one has ever presented any evidence or actual details of what occurred. In terms of the actually available facts, there's nothing much at all to be upset about.
-
Apart from anything else, he's not really the type of player that we're needing. Difficult to understand that signing. Big call from Imrie to bring an unpopular player back as well.
-
Yeah. Without wanting to get into what the club should be doing at an open training session, the inaccuracy in calling it an open day is probably annoying me more than it should (so if people could stop it, I'd appreciate that).
-
I'm not sure Bearne ever really fit in with any system Imrie wanted to play. I wondered from early on if playing off Oakley in a front two would've been more to his style, but very possibly just a guy who has some talent but not the all round game. His misses last week against Brechin looked significant - like some flashing beacon that it wasn't working out for either party.
-
I can see now that it was the B team of SJK, SJK Akatemia (Academy), who play in the second tier that he was playing for today.
-
Where you seeing that? I looked to see if he had played but it looks like his team plays on Monday.
-
I do wonder how we end up in situations like having no home games on a Saturday between Oct 5 and Nov 9. And only one home game in September as well. I know there will be the possibility of cup games in there somewhere but it's not exactly helpful to the club (or fans). That's even without the possibility of games being moved to Friday night. And I know it's difficult to schedule fixtures, and I know it's similar every season, but squeezing in midweek games at the end of October and February really doesn't seem ideal.
-
I'd imagine the remaining priorities are replacements, in one way or another, for Power, O'Connor, Strapp, and Oakley.
-
We're replacing McGrattan, Quitongo, Muirhead, and Boyd as well as offering a different type of option to Crawford centrally. Id think we'd be looking for 6 players or so to fight for 3 or 4 more forward places. I'm assuming Davies will be the closest thing to Muirhead's retirement. As it stands he'll play centrally.
-
So far we've got 11 players who have either left or haven't signed up for next season (you can just about put together a decent starting 11 out of them). We've got Reynolds and Davies joining. However many more we sign, we've got a long way to go in putting together the squad. A problem with some of the names above is that they would probably be August/September signings if we could get them, and we're going to have to sign up another 5 or 6 at least before then. I expect some more left-field signings in the next few weeks. Also, has the Morton Twitter/X page disappeared?

We advertised for a physio, a part time stadium and facilities manager, and business development executive this year. Not sure if I missed anything (didn't mention the volunteer SLO position). Not starting any judgements on the merits or otherwise, just saying that's what the positions are.
-
Mullen looked the part the moment he came in - I was skeptical about the signing but he shut me up immediately. You can argue about improvements here and there and coaching helping consistency, etc., but I think it's a bit much to say it was drastic.

For me the thing is that I've never seen any evidence of the allegations against Fred, or heard anyone at the club at the time say anything bad about him. I don't even know the particularities. So why should I call him names or criticise him based on the hearsay of others. The facts that I know are he left, we got some decent money out of it, and we went on to win promotion that season. From the position of the knowledge I have, I'm not sure what I have to complain about.
