  1. Do any of these 'celebrity' ex-Morton players who have publicly voiced their support for the MCT know or understand much more about this scheme/idea/proposal/organisation than the rest of us? Edit to add: The one that springs to mind is this one: https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/17641196.morton-legends-throw-their-weight-behind-an-ambitious-fan-ownership-bid/ For those who remember him playing, he is a much loved and revered person, but to take him at face value he comes across as clueless, and not the kind of person to be dispensing advice on what Morton supporters should or shouldn't do with their hard earned cash.
  2. In the event that a person chooses to pledge an amount of money to the MCT group, what would be the primary objective of the fundraising? In the event that the MCT group acquires shares in the club, who will be the legal owners of the shares? Will this be the person(s) who pledged funds to the MCT, or would it be the MCT themselves? If so, what form will this take? In the event that MCT become the legal owners of an equitable stake in Morton FC as a result of funds raised via pledges, will those pledging monies become shareholders or stakeholders in MCT? If so, what form will this take? Who will be the person legally responsible and liable for MCT? Will they be elected? What type of legal entity will Morton Club Together take the form of? In the event of a person(s) who are unhappy with MCT at a later date, for whatever reason, can they take their money back? This is an important point as several GMST 'loan note' holders have expressed unhappiness in recent times. What differentiates MCT from GMST? Isn't it the same thing rebranded?
  3. Govanhill is better than Slovak slums and the likes. Hence why there are so many of them over here stinking the place out.
  4. More to the point, Genk is a really stupid name for a town. It's like 'Gonk' with an 'e' in it. I thought that you would have had an affinity with those ailing Belgian giants like Standard Liege and Anderlecht, if history were different they could have been the mainstay of Bundesliga2 and pumping SV Hamburg and St.Pauli on a regular basis.
  5. The Scottish Government currently have their own issues with *alleged* serial sex offenders in their own ranks at the moment. This will come to trial in time for Our first minister to call a second referendum.
  6. It could be an all-England affair in both the UEFA Champions League Final and also the UEFA Europa League Final.
  7. I still prefer seeing Rangers in the Champions League getting pumped and watching the aftermath. It's okay if you like watching silky skill in big ultra-modern stadiums, the big starry ball logo, the theme tune, the carefully selected sponsors adverts etc. However, none of this comes close to competing with Scotland's greatest cultural export self imploding on a world stage, the seethe in the TV studios and the dawning of realisation that their latest crop of expensive signings are fucking shit. Still, if you like that sort of thing....
  8. UEFA Champions League Final will be an all-England affair between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Edit: just seen the highlights of the Spurs game. What a finish.
  9. Somehow I thought that would be your cup of tea. I could picture you in amongst that sort.
  10. If someone cut off the tip of your knob then you would be permanently raging. Dare I say it, I find it refreshing that nowadays there is a club out there aiming to be even more despicable than the old Airdrie. Football has become too effete nowadays, have you seen that new BBC Scotland 'View from the Terrace' show? Never been to a Juniors game that lot.
  11. Anyway, back on topic. Why do you hate the criminally negligent Falkirk?
  12. We've already been down avenues like that, perhaps before your time. It was a 'membership only' forum - the Jesse Ventura forum. Perhaps I'm biased but I think the messageboard with its current contributions, contributors and the way it is currently structured is perhaps the best it has been in over 20 years of Morton-related forums.
  13. I really don't know how any of you can be arsed with P&B, conversing with Fifers, Falkirk etc. Surely there's enough dickheads on here to occupy your time.
  14. Nah, sounds crap. What's wrong with just having a few beers and going to a few different places. Not a fan of 'drinking games', alcohol is something which should be consumed sensibly.
  15. What is a 'pub golf' crawl? Is it golf wankers doing a pub crawl?
  16. England's population make-up is considerably different from that of Scotland, as it has always been a more transient eg. People move around for work, study, family reasons etc. So it wouldn't be unusual for someone from Northwest of England to reside within the home counties. Also, Not everyone has a 'local' team, for example, if you stayed in the home counties - Haywards Heath or Hemel Hempstead for example - who are your local team? Yes, there will be teams within a 20 mile radius of various status, but you may not feel an emotional attraction or attachment to them. Man United were a club of convenience for many, they played nice Football, had the best players at the time, offered a bit of glamour, excitement and entertainment, were easily accessible and provided the perfect 'ready made' turnkey experience for the brand new Football fan. Also, the name 'Man United' has more than one meaning, to most of us Man may be shortened for Manchester but if you are a young kid in Seoul, South Korea or in the Philippines and you are getting your first seeds of interest in Football, it could easily translate as 'Mankind United' - a club for everyone, everywhere. There has been some top notch marketing over the years behind that club. Despite all their hundreds of millions invested from their Arab owners, Man City will never come close to being as popular Man United off the Park, and Man United will return to the top of the tree in footballing terms soon.
  17. Manchester United's success didn't happen overnight, and it all happened in a more organic manner than a lot of people nowadays would perhaps give them credit for. There was a four or five seasons of mid-table mediocrity when Alex Ferguson had taken over from Ron Atkinson in 1986, followed by a perfect storm of events which worked in Man Utds favour. These include, in no precise order: English teams being banned from European tournaments following the Heysel disaster; The Hillsborough disaster followed by Taylor Report; The Liverpool/Everton dominance from the previous decade coming to an end; The advent of Satellite Television, The creation of the FA Premiership and changes to distribution of TV Money; Football becoming an attractive and interesting pastime for an increasingly upwardly mobile and affluent middle class, which happened in the aftermath of the 1990 world cup. English clubs being allowed back into European tournaments, and Man United winning the European Cup Winners Cup on the first year back. Man United winning the inaugural FA Premiership. The 'coming of age' of the product of Bobby Charlton's soccer schools which scouted the whole of the UK over the previous decade for the best young players and unearthed some gems including Paul Scholes, David Beckham, The Neville Brothers and Nicky Butt. Eric Cantona volleying a Crystal Palace fan for abusing him. Arsenal manager George Graham getting the sack over illicit payments, followed by Bruce Rioch spunking an absolute fortune at the time on a mid-table finish. Man United were the right club at the right time who were well managed and run and able to capitalise both on and off the park on what was things happening in Football. It wasn't someone turning up out of the blue and looking to launder a sovereign wealth funds profits, it was a lot more organic than that. Edit to add: a lot of younger people who grew up in the era of Man United's dominance probably don't realise that Liverpool were the dominant club a few years beforehand, and pissed everyone off even more.
  18. West Ham will not fuck off anytime soon either. London is emerging as one of European Football's major cities, although it always has been to an extent, but with Chelsea's success, plus Arsenal and Tottenham being regulars in the latter stages in both UEFA competitions, West Ham supporters will be demanding that level of success too and their owners will speculate accordingly.
