  1. Wonderful news on Strapp, the difference between him and Waters to the team is night and day - witness unbeaten run!
  2. Your appraisal there looks the type of attributes the McInnes would go for: physical battles, set pieces and link-up play are mainstays of Killie's game plans under him.
  3. RIP Dennis, you played a big part in our 1978 promotion.
  4. I thought it was an enjoyable match with a great atmosphere. Morton should've been 2 or three up before Partick scored. The substitutions changed the game and once Partick scored it looked as if they could even win it. Jai coming on for Wilson and Crawford moving back one seemed okay as did Garrity replacing Muirhead, but for some reason we suddenly seemed wide open down our left side, which Partick exploited several times. For Muirhead's miss we were right in line and the ball was actually behind him, as Strapp had lashed the ball across from inside the 6 yard box, possibly trying to score. Muirhead tried to get his foot over it to keep it down but was a bit unlucky due to the speed and position of the ball behind him. As to the crowd, if Cappielow holds 11,500, that means another 8,000 could have squeezed in. I find that hard to believe, where would they have fitted in? Or how long would it have taken to get them in with the ticketing shambles. We got our tickets from Smith's and the ground tickets were sold out before 2pm. It's a bit concerning as some people were talking about not going back till it's sorted out.
  5. That's an excellent read, well done to Dougie for expanding his horizons. We'll do well to hold on to him!
  6. That's probably a good idea. However I'd just like to clarify before closing: Are you the appointed spokesperson for all posters on this thread with the exception of myself? In that case have you all lived such sheltered lives that you find it hard to believe that part of my job involved working and living in the Netherlands, and that I played for one of my work's football team's? I worked in Norway, Holland and Belgium from mid eighties to mid ninety's, and also played for a work's team in Norway. Outwith this period I also worked in New Orleans (my favourite), Houston, Las Palmas, Turkmenistan (my least favourite) and Belfast (where I also played for the work's team). Yes, believe it or not, my passport allowed me to actually leave Greenock. In fact many of us who were paid off by Scott Lithgow at the behest of one Margaret Thatcher, had no option but to move further afield if we wanted to continue working. Continuing to play football was a welcome bonus. Thank you and goodbye.
  7. No, he just asked my age. Why don’t you read the posts properly before replying?
  8. I'm told the coach at Den Haag may have been Rob Ouwehand.
  9. They thought I was in my early 20's. I don't suppose anyone will believe it but in my forties the Morton Scout Jimmy Kielan asked my manager at Renfrew Western, what age is the wee right winger? to which my manager replied, forget him, he's over forty!
  10. I only said Ooltgensplaat was in Zeeland. I had to hire a car to get from Zwindrecht to there, when my family came over for the summer. I had to drive over sort of mini-causeways to get there, and there was more water than land on the island. My children loved it there as everyone wore clogs so we followed suit. New Zealand was called after Zeeland. Do you know what Brielle is famous for?
  11. How dare they say he wasn't folding the strips properly!
  12. No, I hadn’t tried Den Haag either. They just, to my utter shock, approached me after a match. I also wasn’t knocked back, I just left. I continued to play amateur football into my forties.
  13. That’s exactly what I meant! Concentrate on the team you support or play for!
  14. Fair enough Dougie: https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.greenocktelegraph.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2F24035282.dougie-imrie-urges-michael-garrity-step-fitness%2F
  15. He’s certainly proved me wrong! Pity about his hunbelievable comments on his favourite team though!
  16. Excellent news Admin! Hopefully we’ll get back on topic soon!
  17. How dare you have the temerity to come on here and ask for help whilst promoting the idea of increasing your contributions. It's the Fans' Forum FFS! Seriously though you've done nothing wrong at all. More and more people on here are taking it upon themselves to "police" what others post for their own agenda's and it's not healthy!.
  18. Thanks for your support SP, however I have brought a lot of this on myself on previous posts, so I can partially accept it for that reason. You may have also noticed I don't respond with similar tit-for-tat abuse. I posted a week or so back that, as well as responses to my posts, I also get a few digs thrown in. This has now taken a further turn as recently there is no responses to my post, just the digs and abusive personal comments. I'm not sure how I'm managing to trigger such responses, even from seemingly intelligent posters. For instance Toby, who normally appears quite sharp and intelligent, regularly implied that I was an attention seeker, yet on a recent post he says that I replied to him at kick-off time so that my response would go unnoticed. This type of inconsistency has been happening quite frequently, with people regularly contradicting their own recent posts in their haste to be first to get a dig at me. Another example is me being called a fantasist when I admitted I left because couldn't meet the standard of one and two touch football that the other players displayed. Surely a fantasist would have said something like they took the place by storm with their amazing one and two touch skills. Still I'm sure everyone will be back to normal soon enough!
  19. Well figured out, that's correct! I've never paid much attention to numbers such as age, years, dates etc. so maybe you're saying I should afford the same luxury to Kirk Broadfoot!
  20. I've looked back through old CV's etc. and It looks like I was quite a bit out with the year, it was 1992, as the Gas Platform Design we were working on was an addition to the original Ultramar Markham Development. The manager and our coach were definitely two different people. The manager was about medium height, stocky with short dark hair, and maybe mid-forties. The coach of our group was tall (good bit over 6') and slim, with shoulder length fair hair. I'm sure his first name was Rob or Robbie and he was a centre half. I can't be certain it was Rensenbrink but I'm sure someone told me it was and that's where I got it from. He would likely be an ex Den Haag player as that's how the Dutch Clubs tend to operate. There was training on at least 6 pitches with 6 different coaches, for age groups from around 8/10 to adult. The team we (Grootint) were playing against when the manager approached me were from London. They were called Rig Design Services (RDS), had an Engineering Team based in Rotterdam. They took me to Den Haag on their team bus and had to wait for me afterwards while I met the Den Haag Manager. I had also worked at Engineering Bureu Veth in Papendrecht and Keppel Verolme in Rotterdam, and lived in Rotterdam, Brielle and Ooltgensplaat in Zeeland, as well as Dordrecht and Den Haag. That's all I can recall at this time, although I've contacted RDS and my Project Manager at Hereema and Grootint, and will update anything of relevance.
  21. Okay I'll attempt to finish this off. I think my memory's okay for places where I worked and lived, though pretty poor for dates and years.
  22. Doesn’t that prove I didn’t just google it if I was trying to concoct a story?
  23. I hope the people on here believe your story. I certainly have no reason to doubt it.
