  1. If you email communications@mortonclubtogether.co.uk then I'll take a look and get that sorted.
  2. We do lose soft, preventable goals, but there are also consistent issues with referees at this level. Both these points can be true at the same time. I'd say the issue stems back to VAR being implemented in the Premiership. We simply don't have enough strength in depth in the refereeing pathway to have 5 or 6 Cat 1 refs sitting in front of a TV every Saturday afternoon, and the Championship is suffering as a result. Too many young, inexperienced referees are being fast-tracked through the ranks to fill gaps in the refereeing pathway that only exist because VAR was introduced. Our vote against implementing VAR has definitely been vindicated in my opinion.
  3. I loved hosting the podcast, but by the time we called it a day we had covered a lot of matches, and in fairness there are only so many ways that the same panellists can react to the same types of matches and incidents. It was also a huge time commitment to ask of people on a regular basis. The preparation, recording, editing and distributing takes up a hell of a lot more time than people probably realise too. The decision to stop also coincided with me moving back abroad, and I wouldn't feel overly comfortable hosting and stating opinions on a match that I've only watched on a stream compared to someone who is watching from inside the stadium (especially when the matches kick off at 11pm local time on a Saturday night). If someone wants to resurrect the podcast I'd be more than happy to show them the ropes and help them get set up, but I don't have any plans to begin hosting it again, especially while I'm living in another country.
  4. The feedback loop and updating the website are both on our to-do list, along with a few other comms items, but as you can imagine our to-do list over the last month or so has kept growing ever larger. The backend of the MCT website isn't the easiest to navigate for someone with my mediocre technical skills, which has made updating the site a bit trickier than I had first anticipated. The feedback loop is something that has disappeared and reappeared several times throughout MCT's existence, so we may look at a new approach that will hopefully prove more sustainable. As I'm sure you understand, we've had to be very reactive with our comms recently, but we have had serious discussions about how we change and improve that going forward.
  5. I echo that completely.
  6. https://mortonclubtogether.co.uk/latest-news/63-mct-statement-john-laird Morton Club Together Statement- John Laird The Board of Morton Club Together notes the statement provided by Greenock Morton Football Club relating to the resignation of Chairman John Laird, dated 31st December 2025. We wish to thank those members and supporters who have contacted us with their thoughts regarding this and as has been requested, provide our own views on the matter. Having met with the club board informally to discuss allegations of abuse directed towards Mr. Laird, prior to Saturday’s match with Ayr United, we were advised later that evening of his decision to step down from his position at the club. The MCT Board take any allegations of bullying and harassment from any stakeholders involved with Greenock Morton Football Club extremely seriously and support any investigation into any impropriety from any stakeholder in the club who feels it appropriate to behave in such a manner towards another individual or individuals. We would urge anyone who feels bullied or harassed by anyone from within MCT, be it the Board or the broader membership, to report such harassment to the relevant authorities. While the MCT Board are prepared to help with any investigations, we feel that in hindsight, the club’s official website and social media channels are not appropriate platforms to air such grievances and will seek to work with the club to ensure lessons are learned from the decision to use official channels for such a purpose. This should have been challenged prior to the statement’s release, and for that we accept our role in failing to do so. The MCT Board would like to conclude by wishing Mr. Laird every success for the future, and by wishing our members, stakeholders and all Morton fans a happy and prosperous New Year. Kind Regards, Russell Gordon, On behalf of the MCT Board.
  7. Domestic only.
  8. I see six of the eight colt teams playing tonight were knocked out. Fucking bin them.
  9. It seems like that is exactly what has happened. He's had smoke blown up his arse by his agent and/or family and it's come back to bite him.
  10. Bring Lamie home. Thanks.
  11. I think that is the crucial point. Whilst the word salad job title is certainly something, I'd imagine he will essentially be an assistant manager and give a steer to Imrie on recruitment, much like Andy Millen did. As VT has said, it also means that we should reduce the disruption to the squad if/when Imrie leaves. I'd be very surprised if Imrie is still here at the end of the season, and an experienced manager in the backroom staff *should* serve us better than having to appoint an external caretaker or someone from the current playing staff should Imrie leave mid-season.
  12. An early candidate for post of the season. Stellar work.
  13. I recently visited The Workers Stadium in Beijing to watch Beijing Guoan in a 2-0 win against Zhejiang. The stadium is lovely; it has a 68,000 capacity and was around three quarters full when I visited. The standard was better than I was expecting, although there was a real lack of composure and creativity in general, which meant neither team could keep possession for any meaningful period.
  14. Whilst demands for the club to communicate regarding losing out on a potential assistant manager is obviously daft, I do think there is an ongoing comms issue that I'd like to see the club address and improve upon. The constant use of 'a club spokesperson' appearing in the Tele when reporting on a story. It might just be a pet peeve of mine, but for a fan-owned club who are supposedly looking to rebuild the trust and confidence of the fanbase, 'a club spokesperson' doesn't cut it. Why exactly are our club staff/directors refusing to put their names to their statements? The credibility of both the GMFC and MCT boards have been rightfully called into question over the last few months. At the MCT EGM to vote on the Dalrada proposal, we were offered rather mealy-mouthed apologies from Barr and Robinson for misleading the fanbase, and we were told that lessons would be learned by the individuals involved. Nameless individuals feeding information to the press doesn't come close to meeting that standard. How are we, as the club's owners, supposed to hold GMFC directors to account if we can't attribute information released to an individual? If we are looking to improve standards around the club then that is an easy first step that I'd like to see us take. I suggest two quick ways to do this would make a massive difference - record and release minutes from both GMFC and MCT board meetings (redacted where necessary), and making a blanket policy that all information released to the press must have a name attributed to it.
  15. If we had a reasonable competent backup goalkeeper, instead of Woods, I'd be fine with Dunning's suggestion to play it by ear judging on the League Cup group stages, but that's not the situation. Given his age and lack of experience at this level, there is a very good chance that at some stage in the season we would need to bring Murdoch out the team. From what I've seen of Woods, a potentially prolonged period of games with Woods in goal could be disastrous. I think the best course of action for both Murdoch and the team is him finding a loan club at a good level. Let him play every week at a more suitable level and see where we are come January.
