  1. Would be an ideal signing. Good experience in this league and I'm sure Mullen would benefit from working with him. I know Scott is there, but he would probably be perfect for a player/coach role.
  2. Nice way of saying you're not good enough I guess seeing as we are speaking to this Liverpool kid who also hasn't played in this league.
  3. Think I remember us breaking 1000 under the snake but they were discounted to £200 so was a complete no brainer to have one. Hopefully a couple of good signings before Ayr game and we can shift a few more.
  4. Doubt many of us will know what our budget is and how it compares to last season/other clubs. I'd like to think it's at least the same as last season if not slightly improved. "Budget allows' doesn't necessarily mean limited budget, Dougie could simply be targeting players who are on a significant weekly wage and he wants them to take a reduction to fit into our budget and still be very well paid. Think Dougie will be playing the waiting game on a few players since we are not in urgent need of bodies like other teams.
  5. The fact a piss poor Accies punted him and replaced him with Tumilty should tell us how poor a player he is for this level now. Tumilty and Hodson are comfortably better players IMO and I'm sure there are better options out there than Doyle.
  6. We can do much better than Doyle. Hoping he is just training to keep fit, would be amazed if he was offered a deal. Tumilty, Hodson, Brandon, if allowed to go out on loan, would be better options
  7. Dougie said a few weeks back he hoped to have most of his squad in place for the start of pre-season today but we are clearly 5 or 6 players short. He said he wants a similar squad size to this season but also said 18 and 18-20 on different occasions so hopefully its closer to the 20 mark and we still have room for 5/6 more players. Lost, Schwake- replaced by Mullen. Green Strapp Pignatiello Ambrose- Replaced by Broadfoot. Grimshaw. A.Crawford. Miller. Roy. and of course we save a few quid by Lyon going, although it turns out he left in Jan so his wage might have been used up by one of the Jan additions. 9 out the door, only 2 so far so work to do. Think we ideally need; Keeper Right back- Cover for LB/CB Def midfielder Att midfielder Winger Striker That would give us a squad of 21. Probably wishful thinking but feel we got a bit lucky with injuries last season( Only Strapp was out long term) and if we go with a smaller squad and pick up 2 or 3 long term ones, we would really struggle. That 21 also includes Garrity and King who are still young and prob not on too much.( A new contract for King would be welcome)
  8. 23 season tickets off last years total. Would be disappointed if we don't get at least 1000.
  9. Well past it is harsh IMO. Played every game for ICT as they reached the playoff final the season before last and was offered a deal to stay last season. Did similar for Killie the season before that too in the Premiership. Seems like the kind of guy who takes care of himself and I'm sure he will do a job if called upon as well as providing experience around the place As a 3rd choice CB, he's absolutely fine.
  10. Same source which told you this pish last summer?
  11. Think you'll be on your own with that one. He has done nothing to merit a deal from us. No coincidence that when we finally dropped him, we started winning games. Thankfully he is still contracted to St Johnstone in any case and I doubt he would want a deal with us anyway after how it's went. Dougie hasn't made many mistakes recruitment wise but Ali Crawford and Ally Roy are 2 which haven't worked out with Kabia not too far behind. Generally his recruitment has been excellent when you look at Grimshaw,R.Crawford, Efe, O'connor, Schwake, Baird, Oakley, Gillespie, Jai, Miller( eventually), Waters, Wilson and Brandon. If he gets most of them right again this summer, we should have a very good season.
  12. Don't think we need to have a concern about his fitness.. He played 32 games this season. Probably missed as many games through suspension as he did being injured. He was sent off 3 times with a couple of them being extremely harsh IMO. Think we rightly had concerns when he signed but he's showed he can maintain his fitness for pretty much a full season. On end product, aye he could definitely add more goals and assists to his game but there are very few players like him in this league who are so quick and direct and I'd much rather have him in our team than against us. We know on his day he can score a screamer out of no where like he did against Cove, just need to see more of it. Think i said 4 or 5 weeks ago that I'd let Miller go but agree he has done really well the last few weeks so I'd be happy for him to sign on too. Like Grimshaw, think it took him time to get up to speed after being out for months, maybe it just took him longer than expected. Miller, McGrattan, Jai and maybe one more would be decent options to occupy the wide areas.
  13. He's not signed yet, offer on table though.
  14. Just looking at the state of play for next season. Signed up- Pignatiello, O'Connor, Baird. King, Blues, Gillespie, Lyon, McGrattan, R.Crawford, Garrity, Oakley, Muirhead, Out of contract- Green, Ambrose, Grimshaw, Strapp, Miller, Quitongo. Loans ending- Roy, Ali Crawford, Waters, Schwake Loan returning- Lyon. I'd be looking to move Garrity on, he needs to start playing regular football and he won't get that with us. Of the out of contract players, I'd love Grimshaw to stay but highly unlikely. I'd be happy for Jai to get a new deal, think he's deserved it and if Big Efe is happy to be a backup, he can stay too but suspect he will be off. Miller was great last night but hasn't done enough since he got here, think we aim for better. Expect Green will move on and we know Strapp is off. Of the loans, I'd offer Waters a deal. Think he has done well for us and is a decent replacement for Strapp. Schwake has done well overall but i think Dougie will be looking for a new number 1 and I'd be surprised if we ty and get him back. If Hamilton go down, we should try and get Fulton who I've always been impressed with. No comments required for A.Crawford and Roy. Lyon- feck knows. Will Dougie give him one last chance, hopefully, we all know there is a player there and maybe the loan deal has given him the kick up the arse he needs. Probably the best shape we've went into the Summer in years. If we had a keeper signed up, we could put a team out now which could easily compete in the cup group stages. Replace the 7 or 8 who will most likely move on with better and we should go into next season in good shape,
  15. 2012-2013 we were top for much of the season and struggled to get 2000 every week, not far off what we are now. No chance in hell we are going to have fans flooding back in their thousands. We struggled to just over 4k for our biggest game in a generation against Aberdeen at Hampden. We are right in the promotion hunt this season and we had 1800 on Saturday. When are you expecting all these extra thousands to show up?
  16. We see this argument a lot that we are bigger than Livvy, Ross County, Hamilton etc etc and should be on a par with St Mirren etc but how long can that go on for? How do you measure it? How far back does the history need to go to prove it? Look at Livvy in the last 25 years- 10 seasons in the top league and counting, 10k seated stadium which includes offices, training pitches etc, won the Challenge cup, won the League cup, got to another league cup final, won the 2nd Tier, played in Europe, been down to the 4rd tier and back up to the Premiership. Aye their crowds are shit but they've achieved a hell of a lot more than us in the last 25 years. What we got? 1 League cup semi final appearance and came close to promotion once or twice. Our crowds aren't exactly something to be boasting about these days compared to 15-20 years ago. It's been 34 years since we last played top flight football. Think we need to get away from thinking we are sleeping giant and are a big club compared to others who have achieved a hell of a lot more than we have in recent times. We are a classic Championship level club these days. With Dougie and Dalrada, we do have a chance to change that though, time will tell.
  17. A signing to cement top 4. Very happy if true. Dougie was on record saying Ali was his best mate in football so always thought it was a possibility. Whilst not had many starts this season, just 4, he has came off the bench 15 times so there should be no concerns about being match fit.
  18. Time to get Quitongo signed up for next season. He's been a real threat this season with his pace and works his arse off for the team. Many had doubts, including myself but he's been a breath of fresh air! Deserves another year and hopefully he gets it.
  19. He has scored goals in this division before, just needs to find that form again and he will be a good signing. Slight concern that he hasn't really done it in a few years but I'm sure Dougie can get the best out of him. You see it time and time again when a player moves club, new manager ( who isn't Billy Fecking Dodds) new lease of life etc. Decent competition for Muirhead, which is badly needed. Hopefully 1 or 2 more to follow.
  20. Guessing he won't get many 90 min appearances from us, more than likely replace a nackered Muirhead/New Striker or come on when we are behind to try and salvage something from a game. Reports not great but he did score more goals (12) for a struggling Queens side than any Morton player last year, and that's with only 18 starts so happy to see what Dougie can do with him. Hopefully a better forward to follow..
  21. When Dougie signed Grimshaw, he spoke about trying to bring that kind of quality player to the club. Looks to me like he is getting rid of anyone who doesn't cut it and will then replace with quality additions. The MCT mission statement about quality of quantity might actually happen now! All for Dougie being ruthless and excited to see what we do next. With Garrity back and Miller signing, we still have 18 bodies for Sat so no immediate rush for new players but I think we will add at least 2/3 over the next few weeks.
  22. On Brandon, Is the loan rules not max 2 from the one club? Not sure if that's at the same time or per season. If the former, we'd need Kabia sent packing early (I'm hoping that happens regardless)
  23. Livvys captain Devlin plays right back, I doubt Brandon was ever going to be anything other than a back up for them and I guess he knew that going there. Doubt they would buy Grimshaw for the same reason.
