  1. I think it's simply down to their takeover in the summer and throwing cash about like Gretna did. Fans don't need much to buy into a project so when they are signing right good players on 2-3 year contracts they quickly bought in. On top of that, they made improvements to their stadium, improved their communication channels and social media presence etc so their whole summer was one good news story after another and their fans believed something special could happen. To be fair to them, the money they spend in the summer has probably been covered by the increase in average gates so their gamble worked. Doubt they expected an average of 4 2k I'd like to think we will have something similar this Summer. Money in the bank to make some infrastructure improvements, , a clear focus and strategy and hopefully an increased budget for Dougie to bring in some good players. I think it's practically impossible for us to have 3-4000 inside Cappielow any time soon but 2000 home fans should be the absolute minimum target.
  2. I'm guessing we save a few quid by splitting it. Renting Parklea for 2 days a week instead of 4 will add up over the course of the season.
  3. Think I remember us breaking 1000 under the snake but they were discounted to £200 so was a complete no brainer to have one. Hopefully a couple of good signings before Ayr game and we can shift a few more.
  4. 23 season tickets off last years total. Would be disappointed if we don't get at least 1000.
  5. He's not signed yet, offer on table though.
  6. I initially thought its the right time to make a few changes but we only have 3 games between now and the 2nd of Jan so strongest team possible and give us the best chance of progressing. Players don't exactly need a rest, its been 1 game a week for a long time now. Kabia and O'Connor in for Baird and Quitongo. It's not exactly a competition I'm desperate to win but when you see there's been 17 winners of this tournament and we're not one of them, it's about time we changed that . Teams like Inverness, Ross County, QOTS, Hamilton and Falkirk have all been in the final 4 or 5 times so we have failed pretty miserably for a team of our size. Thistle and Ayr in that boat too.
  7. " Lee Bullan’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after seeing his side draw 2-2 at home to Cove Rangers, followed by a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Dundee last week." Ayr have won their last 2 games mate, home to Thistle and away to Arbroath.
  8. So you've actually agreed with my point, he shouldn't be promising new players( multiple signings) in public. Cheers champ.
  9. GR a few weeks ago we will bring in a few players this month. He really needs to learn his lesson with the stuff he says in public!
  10. Hope to use stadium for other events but couldn't go into detail Expects new players this month and 1 very soon apparently( heard that before GR) Emphasised the need for a striker once again. Getting good value on our loan deals, Dumbarton and Annan paying more than average rate. Desire to stay full time. New Operations Manager in place and will take on most tasks a typical CEO undertakes. Decision to patch Dev team was purely down to lack of numbers, wasn't a financial one albeit, we have gained financially from it.
  11. Keen to understand what they are actually looking for? I can't remember any recent incidents where fans/players/stewards were attacked with some sort of weapon to cause these random searches to take place. On the stewards in general, i noticed a couple of kids standing behind the goal and weren't told to move so hopefully that's the end of that particular issue.
  12. Feel good factor back after a pretty pish few weeks of doom and gloom. Hopefully a new chapter for MCT, finally 1500 Morton fans against Cove, hopefully we get a few more out tomorrow. Really looking forward to tomorrow.
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if Dougie has been told you can bring in 1 or 2 more but they need to be the last week of the window to save paying a few weeks wages. We brought 4 or 5 in on deadline day last year, presumably with the same plan to save money.
  14. I was actually surprised our crowd was as high as 1500. I expected 13-1400. If we can at least maintain but hopefully increase that, our average will be closer to 2k bearing in mind 99% of the 1500 were home fans and you'd like to think the away fans would average at least 300-350 over the season. ( expect decent numbers from Dundee, Thistle and Ayr). No doubt the BBC will pick one of the Thistle games which won't help the gate Of course your right though, in a few months people might decide 22 quid can be put to better use elsewhere, especially if/when we are down the bottom.
  15. Stephen McGinn signs for Falkirk. As does Gary Oliver!!
  16. DD option was surprisingly quick and straightforward, assuming it went through OK. No email confirmation right enough.
  17. Disappointed with that, was hoping he would sign on as he impressed once he got up to match fitness. Wouldn't mind us going for McGinn now as he clearly doesn't rate Jacobs.
  18. Think there needs to be an element of trust in the GMFC board here. We clear need investment, they clearly know the people in question and will undoubtedly have done background checks. They are not going to sell us doon the water to the next Hugh Scott. If they don't pay up, they lose their shares so we are fully protected. I don't think we need to know each individual agreement, knowing who they are is enough. I'll be bitterly disappointed if we say no to additional income streams It's utter madness for me when we all want Dougie to have the best budget possible to give us the best chance of success.
  19. Goal 23 of the season for him too...
  20. Oisin and Tom Allan released by Newcastle. Oisin obviously a good player but not sure we have space for him now with O'Connor, Baird and Lithgow. No doubt have offers from down south anyway.
  21. Not arguing with that, it's a shambles. Just making the TiS aware you can renew over the phone, saving a trip to Smiths.
  22. Can you not just phone up and do it over the phone with Brendan? That's what I've done last few years.
  23. No issue with the price increase on last year. Last years price was presumably based on the unknown of streams against going to games etc. The £295 price gets you 3 free games effectively which is a decent saving. However it is still a lot of money for people to fork out so the club needs to encourage fans to part with their hard earned cash by announcing some new contracts/signings before the early bird deadline and give us some encouragement. I can't see fans rushing to renew unless we see some positive transfer activity. Also the MCT price should be cheaper than the early bird.
  24. I know Ayr did, who else?
  25. Discounted rate better than no rate at all for a room which will most likely be sitting empty anyway.
