  1. And yet for some reason it took you 36 hours to present the information that you had all along, from your dossier of dud football team match reports. Better luck next time.
  2. Which you didn't answer by just blurting out a set of names like the world's shittest Yellow Pages. Next.
  3. The summer holidays aren't for another 5 weeks.
  4. A reminder that real legal tender was used to secure the transfer of 'Tony Wallace' to this once-proud football club.
  5. We don't 'need' Miller under contract. You might 'want' Miller under contract for next season but those two things are not the same.
  6. Friday's game - both the goal we cheaply conceded, plus us losing control of the game needlessly after a dominant opening 20 minutes - underlines the need to upgrade in central midfield. We got a lot from there this season, but if we're serious about taking that next step, then we really need a higher quality player as our first choice operating in front of the defence. Adding a central defender (with Ambrose likely going) who can cover left back as well would also significantly strengthen the squad. Sir Richard is out of favour at Motherwell now - bring him home. Otherwise our business should involve replacing the full-back and goalkeeper positions based on who extends their deals. Possibly an extra attacking option if there's room in the budget but I'd prioritise the two positions above.
  7. There's no reason to assume that we'll be without Grimshaw on the other side of the park. I don't agree that Strapp is a 'much much better player' than Waters - Imrie hasn't been the only manager to remove Strapp out of the team. I'd rather have Strapp personally but it's not some yawning chasm in terms of ability. Strapp has been an excellent servant to the club but I don't see how moving (for example) to Forest Green or another English League Two outfit would be anything other than a mutually beneficial outcome this summer. He'll probably earn more money than playing for us and Imrie will almost certainly get the left-back option he prefers. There's zero transfer value that the club is missing out on from as well.
  8. I'd prefer Strapp over Waters but it's quite clear what the manager's choice is going forward. He's earned more than enough credit to make that decision. The background of the player is irrelevant because this is a real professional football club now rather than some Royston Vasey, young/old boys' network.
  9. Aye hold on while the club looks a gift horse in the mouth right now - a pre-season match that raises rather than costs money to put on - in the off-chance that we'll be sharing a division with the same opponent X years down the line. I don't think it should be an annual event but every couple of years is fine. Not to mention the excellent preparation it serves for the League Cup group stage, which is both a progression route and a potential money-spinner that we've not fully exploited.
  10. The Tele butchering the English language by describing Lyon's (potentially) "sensational" reunion with Tidser. 'Seaside league manager signs seaside league midfielder' is not exactly Messi returning to Barcelona.
  11. Looks like the club's centre of gravity has shifted to South-West Greenock now. I for one approve of this. While we're receiving nice things from the club: get me the Oban/Campbeltown/Arran/Stornoway tournament, as the essential warm-up for a credible League Cup campaign.
  12. Waters is a downgrade on Strapp IMO and is not the answer if we have serious ambition to compete in the promotion play-offs.
  13. It also seems quite clear that Imrie is looking for someone to tick different boxes, in which case offering a new deal to Strapp is pointless. Whether those boxes are focused on personality or a different kind of full-back is less clear. But having found Jamie Brandon and Grimshaw in 18 months, I see no good reason to second guess the manager's judgment in this area of the squad. We have plenty of players signed for next season - arguably too many because there's an upgrade needed in areas of the park (especially central midfield) that is going to be difficult to do without moving contracted players on first.
  14. Did your wife come up with that nonsense hot take, or was it your own work?
  15. We don't play at a level (or to a standard) where modern full backs is a relevant comparison. Fucking Marcelo is not the benchmark for a Scottish second tier footballer. That said, there's no evidence to suggest that height is even the issue. Imrie is not Sir David Irons, he is not filling his squad with six foot three hammer-throwers (more's the pity - if he did then we wouldn't have been meekly bodied out of certain home games since the New Year). The more apparent issue in Strapp's game at the moment is anticipation and marking back post runs from crosses and sometimes set piece defending too. But yesterday's display clearly shows that those issues are not isolated to Strapp alone in this squad.
  16. If you were a board member we would be folding the fucking club.
  17. The same brains' trust that actually claimed we'd sell Braeside regens to sustainability also put in place the disastrous 2013-14 squad structure. We might pay lip service to that idea now but if any professional employee at GMFC thinks that it is part of our financial strategy, they should be dispelled of it. We need to get more revenue both on matchdays and as a general business to grow the club. We also can't have it both ways. I'd be surprised if there wasn't an offer for Strapp - either while under contract or an enquiry about negotiating our compensation requirement last summer. We were happy to see him re-sign, but this meant that the immediate transfer value to the club was always going to be zero - his contribution on the park was preferred. Perhaps he'll end up going for £10 million in England later in his career and we'll get a cut of that. Once the season is formally done I agree that McGrattan and King should get a run of games, but the uproar about them is over the top. King in particular has had plenty of match time for a breakthrough season. We don't even know what his main position is supposed to be yet, so demanding that he regularly start games is premature.
  18. They were both dreadful takes, at opposite ends of the spectrum. If we were to replace Strapp with Waters (has done fine given the circumstances) then that would be a clear downgrade for me. It's seems clear that the manager wants a different person for that role, but he needs to already have a pretty good replacement in mind. I can see Strapp going to Forest Green or similar in the summer and all the best to him.
  19. A dreadful take. There's no good evidence to support your view that wage demands or budget was an issue here. If it was, why wouldn't Imrie state that? Players move on for financial reasons all the time - this statement puts any and all potential flak on the manager instead. There's no reason to believe that it isn't genuine. Another dreadful take: provide that very long list of players since 2000 please.
  20. Nicky Cadden scores the closing goal in Barnsley's 3-0 win over Plymouth in the English League One promotion race. Compare and contrast to all those other cunts who are crawling out of the woodwork, having had their careers rightly punished with failure. Barr/O'Ware/Tidser - chew broken glass first, before even mentioning your spell with The Famous in retrospect. You have lost the right to interact with us.
  21. I appreciate the point preemptively raised in the interview about the need for better communication on the MCT-club dynamic. We're obviously all on the Imrie for World Club Championship glory in 2025 bandwagon right now, but it has been very quiet from an MCT point of view since August or something. If the directors are busy doing the work highlighted behind the scenes then great, but that lack of communication from GMFC down will prove an issue as soon as we end up with a much more difficult first team situation. That's going to happen in football - but we need to keep the fan ownership show on the road regardless of those downturns. Better to keep on top of that now when the going is good, rather than try to patch things over while another 'Gus' figure is stinking the place out.
  22. When Martindale goes Livingston will sink to their natural level as a Championship/seaside league basketcase. Any manager would be foolish to try and stem that irresistible force of footballing gravity and Imrie knows the score more than most. There's absolutely no reason why - with form at the right time and decent fortune - Imrie can't replicate the same level of achievement with us.
  23. Jim McInally has been installed as a 12/1 dark horse to return to the club where he bottled a Scottish Cup final to that rancid outfit up the road. This is not a drill people. Imrie not listed among the runners and riders so far, long may that continue.
