  1. I think the more pressing aim for the club's social media output is professionalism. The first objective has to be ensuring that updates and interactions are timely, professional and consistent. Once they achieve that, then they can start looking at being slightly more creative and engaging, but professionalism and consistency need to be nailed first. Let's walk before we try to run.
  2. Josh McPake makes Scotland's U21 squad for their upcoming friendlies against the Bunfields.
  3. I won't. A pain in the arse to get to by train, despite their daft wee village having a train station, and their stewards are arseholes.
  4. Brechin are a horrible little club and deserve every single bit of misfortune that comes their way.
  5. The Colt teams can fuck off. If the sole purpose is to expose their youngsters to senior football, what's to stop them forming a sporting partnership with League One/Two clubs? Hibs have recently formed a partnership with Stenhousemuir which involves players going on loan, as well as sharing scouting reports and other footballing operational benefits. It seems to be a partnership with a list of mutual benefits. Although I highly doubt youth development is the sole motivation for the Old Firm. That said, given the current state of play and the financial difficulties the lower leagues could be facing in the coming weeks and months, if this proposal is ever going to pass then it's going to pass now. The Old Firm have the resources to dangle a carrot that part time clubs simply cannot afford to turn down in the name of sporting integrity.
  6. I don't have an issue with it to be honest. This is the sort of kit that usually would end up either being put in box and stuck in a cupboard, given away to friends/family of the players or kit man or re-used by the players (we've moaned on here before about the players using different kit issues at the same time and it not looking professional). Is there a whiff of the tinpot about this? Aye, without doubt. But given the lack of commercial imputus we've shown for the best part of a year, we're very much in the territory of something being better than nothing. It's money for old rope. That been said, get that guitar to fuck.
  7. Did Riordan not no-show a trial at Morton that season?
  8. That was some Scottish Cup final, Hearts winning it in that fashion would have been absolutely outstanding, but sadly it was not to be.

  10. I've just had a chance to read the full article, and there are a couple of points I'd like to raise from it. - While Tumilty is absolutely entitled to expect the club to keep their promise and either put him up in a hotel overnight, or pay his travel expenses, it's completely unnecessary. Tumilty lives in Bannockburn, which is about a 50 minute drive to Cappielow. In what possible universe is a 50 minute drive classed as an unreasonable commute? I've driven that precise route hundreds of times and there's it's not exactly a taxing drive. It's also worth bearing in mind that's only every second week, Tumilty would only be driving to Renfrew or Glasgow for most away games to meet the team bus. - While Tumilty isn't anywhere near as good as he would have you believe, he is still much better than anyone we've played at full back or wing back since he's been employed by the club. Let's look at who, while Tumilty was contracted to Morton and since then, has played at right full back/wing back; - Stephen Welsh. Not a full back. - Jim McAlister. Not a full back. - Kyle Jacobs. Not a full back. - Luca Colville. Not a full back. - Cammy Salkeld. Not a full back. *I'm open to this list being corrected or added to. I missed a sizable chunk of the period in question. While some of those players are relatively comfortable and capable playing there, not one of them is a natural right back. The issue I'm driving at here is two-fold. We had Tumilty and for whatever reason, I suspect his issues with Hopkin, we didn't utilise him. That decision actively harmed the first team as we deputised him with inferior players, often playing out of position. We've then allowed him to leave and have failed to replace him. Here we are persisting with Michael Ledger at right wing back, which again is not his natural position. - Morton not having a physio during the week is absolutely abysmal. While I know that there were some ongoing disciplinary issues surrounding then physio Alyson Fielding, if she was suspended from duty then someone should have been brought in to cover all of her hours. Not just matchdays. Again, this actively harms the first team as physios can't do preventative work with the players at training, and the players are then left to their own devices to recover from existing injuries. Overall, while I mostly believe Tumilty's accounts of his time at the club, I don't find Tumilty particularly likeable and I don't think he's anywhere near as good as he thinks he is.
  11. That's damning to say the least. Fucking hell.
  12. It seems that Michael Gardyne has been accused of racially abusing Alfredo Morelos during today's game.
  13. That's a fantastic way to package 'we've not got enough money to buy meat for the players'
  14. Spent most of his developmental years either on the treatment table or moving around from club to club, and off the pitch seems to be a wrong'un. It's a no from me.
  15. A few points here. 1) We're five days away from the QOTS game and supporters have no idea of the cost of the stream, where/how to purchase access to the stream, what platforms the steam will be available through and what devices the stream will work on. 2) Having no live test of the streaming system, and more importantly the website server, is a unacceptable combination of incompetence, complacency and laziness. We have a shite website, hosted by a shite server and we're using a new streaming service, and we're expected it to go off without a hitch? 3) Possibly the most minor of the three points - but it is still a point. Why is Gherry McDhade using his personal Twitter account to post information, and reply to fans, rather than tweeting from the club's official Twitter? We're paying him actual money to maintain and grow our Twitter audience, not the other way round. Tl;Dr version - Get a fucking grip MacKinnon.
  16. As Alan mentions above, this points to the massive disconnect between our commercial and communications departments. It's a complete lack of a cohesive plan to maximise income - which should be the top priority for a club insisting on running a break even budget. The lack of overall strategy, leadership and cohesiveness is frightening, but unfortunately it's very Morton.
  17. So, is the new Admiral training gear going to be available for the public to buy in Smiths? Or are they going to continue selling training gear that the club are no longer using?
  18. Neither do you if that cheese line was meant to be a joke.
