  1. If the Hilton can host Furry conventions etc without being associated with or endorsing them then I'm sure Cappielow will be just fine.
  2. Dougie wouldnt even be in my radar of people to consult. Has absolutely nothing to do with the manager, who let's face it probably won't even be here by the time VAR impacts us directly (if it ever does).
  3. Don't really want to go all Captain Anus but have no idea how you can be okay with paying to watch our captain play while cancelling your MCT membership because you think Alex Salmond is a sex pest. Something tells me it's more about the politics than that anyway. I'd argue its fans like that bringing politics in to football more than Cappielow being rented to a political party.
  4. It's not a part of sport in this case though, I'd be extremely surprised to see Morton mention this at all. For me there's a big difference between Cappielow hiring out function rooms and Greenock Morton football club.
  5. I wouldn't care about the clubs function suites hosting a tory event, a Labour event, SNP event or Alba event because its Cappielow the function suites that's hosting it and not Greenock Morton football club. I can't lie and say that there's not a slight tinge of unease regarding the Club Secretary of Morton (who's one of the best in the business BTW) being brothers with a member of the political party that Cappielow is hosting, purely because that then does open up the argument to some that the club are endorsing a certain political party. Either way if Cappielow is going to be renting out event space in a competitive market then they shouldn't be turning away business because of fans political views. It's not like tories, SNP and Labour members are going to turn up to this and be convinced to vote Alba. It's a one night echo chamber for people who already support them.
  6. Honestly don't see the the big issue. If we want to increase commercial activity by hiring function rooms then you're going to be hiring them out to things you as a company might not endorse. If it was a Ku Klux Klan roadshow then aye kick up a fuss, but an event for politics you don't believe in for people attending who believe in those politics is exactly the way a functioning democracy should be. Rather their money for a few tables and chairs goes in our pocket than someone elses and the 4 people who attend enjoy their night. Edit to add: in saying that if there is a significant number of fans bothered then the amount we hire the room out for isn't worth the loss of goodwill from paying fans. Hadn't really factored in the family connection between the club and that political party either which changes things slightly for me.
  7. I see Ayr have released a fan consultation questionnaire regarding the clubs vote on the introduction of VAR. you'd imagine as a fan owned club and not a fan run club that this sort of decision would be within the clubs remit to consult MCT members and/or fans on before casting their vote.
  8. Aye very good initiative. Just hope the stewards don't waterboard them for standing near the front wall.
  9. Fuck me. Even gus wouldn't have had enough of a brass neck to spout some of that shite.
  10. Both MCT but especially the club board have stepped up their game massively this year. For the first time in a long time I feel I support a club heading in the right direction. There were some real unacceptable growing pains in the early months but I'm more than happy to praise the volunteer board members involved as I was more than happy to criticise them earlier in the season. Chris Ross since becoming CEO seems to be growing in to the role as well and long may it continue.
  11. I see the £50 centenary rum sold out its 100 unit run in 16 minutes. Impressive you bunch of alkies.
  12. I disagree that it's taking the piss out those fans as no one is under any obligation to do it so it would only be the people who wants to. I'm the brains trust behind a French themed day for one of our players though so perhaps my track record isn't one the club should be following.
  13. Cool. Neither of us truly know and it won't happen so I've no interest getting in to an argument over it.
  14. Motherwell done the initiative with free season tickets and their fans raised 60k to help pay for it so I'd imagine they got a decent amount of extra punters. Making the games more accessible for youth is of course something the club should be doing, but there's no need to limit to that. As a community owned club we should be trying absolutely everything we can to get the Inverclyde community back interested in the club again. Making tickets easier to buy and not treating kids like prisoners isn't going to do that. It's a long process so no one would expect a scheme like I suggested to put an extra 500 on the gate every week, but it's incrimental steps towards a goal that the club wants to make one of its main priorities. Motherwell again for an example haven't become such a successful community club overnight, they've put the hard work and outside the box thinking in over the course of years and they are reaping the rewards of it.
  15. Season ticket holders could still buy tickets. I'd happily spend £20 for two tickets for someone who couldn't usually afford to go. I'm sure Motherwell did something similar the other year and safe to say that they're the benchmark for community clubs in Scotland. I think you vastly underestimate the generosity of Morton fans, especially for a scheme that is about trying to get lapsed and new fans along to cappielow. Just doing the same old things isn't going to bring fans back. Even a promotion battle under Moore or a cup semi final under Duffy barely made a dent.
  16. What about tenner a ticket but you have the option to buy spare tickets for the club to hand out to people who can't afford to go/wouldn't usually go. Seems a decent way to get a big crowd in while not losing the club money, and also ticks the box of trying to get the community back interested in the club now we are fan owned.
  17. Don't think it's that big a deal tbh. It's an extra few minutes walk at most around the corner to the sinclair street end. There's also people heading back in to town or the for the train who actually get there quicker, which isn't usually an option. We park up behind cappielow and it wasn't even a noticeable inconvenience. There will be individual cases i.e disability where this is a problem but for the vast majority of fans in the cowshed theres minimum change in our routine.
  18. I had to let a couple of 14/15 year olds in with me today as a group of 5 of them were getting knocked back despite one of them being 16. Can understand a potential health and safety risk of a group of 10/11 year olds coming in without an adult but the club cannot be knocking back kids of that age going with their mates in my opinion.
  19. The club should be getting Dougie merchandise on the shelves as soon as possible while his stock remains so high. Never seen the fans adore a manager so much in all my time supporting morton and if I were them I'd be capitalising on it.
  20. I've been consciously making an effort to interact with social media posts as well whether through commenting or liking a tweet/YouTube video etc. If they're going to put the effort in then it takes nothing to take a second to improve their social media interaction figures.
  21. The CEO updates in this video compared to previous videos shows the improvement the club has been making this year. Actual tangible updates that have improved the club on and off the pitch. Extremely slow start for MCT and the board but they're on a good run just now and long may it continue.
  22. The club should be on to Smiths to commission a limited edition sale of Dougie Imrie's bath water. Would sell out quicker than the hats.
  23. I'd be happy enough with any of those four kits. None of them have me excited but don't hate any of them either.
  24. Received an email from the club with future match details. Is this new? Don't remember seeing it previously.
  25. Quality could obviously be a bit better going forward but as a first attempt I think it's an excellent effort and a massive stride forward for the club. Its great to see that Dougie and the squad are in the background having a laugh while it's happening. Can only be a good thing for squad morale.
