  1. Delighted with that. Progressed every year he's been with us and full season under Imrie should see him hopefully get even better. Fancy him to get 10 goals next season which would make him 7th in Mortons top scorers of all time. Edit: 2 years. Even better.
  2. For a second year in professional football I'd say its a good starting place for a defender going to a middling to poor League two side. You'd expect the better Scottish championship players to go to league one/top of league two like Nicky Cadden, Regan Hendry etc have but most important thing for Mcentee is to continue playing games and developing as he has everything needed in his locker to have a successful career.
  3. Mcentee signed for Walsall. Expected him to get a league 1 or Scottish Premier team but still a good starting block at a decent level. Good luck to him.
  4. He's been released by his parent club at the end of his contract. He has bigger clubs interested in him than us by all accounts so wouldn't expect him to be back here, even if we still needed more defenders.
  5. Michael Doyle released by Queens Park rather surprisingly, at least to him it seems going by his twitter. Seems an odd one on the face of it given he's their captain and been successful with them.
  6. If I remember correctly he's quite a pacey centre back so expect him to be the Mcentee replacement. Happy with that signing.
  7. If Reilly is being offered more money at QOS than we are willing or able to offer then surely the likes of Strapp, Wilson and Hamilton are being offered more elsewhere.
  8. Dumbarton were gash but he won their young player and players player of the year, can play in multiple positions and Dougie knows what he's getting with him from Livi so quite optimistic about this signing. Sort of name that was born to play for Morton as well.
  9. I'd love someone like Craig Sibbald or Nicky Low in terms of creativity on the ball off the top of my head. There's not that many people like that at our level just now. Sibbald you'd imagine would have better options and Low signed new deal with Arbroath last season I'm sure, but if we can get someone who has the ability to make it much easier for us to create chances then I'll be delighted.
  10. As far as off the shelf efforts could have went I quite like it, as long as it is hooped the whole way round.
  11. Never attended something like this and know very little about EGMs etc so will reserve judgement to hear other people's opinions before I form mine. 1. Do we get to see the clubs finances before we vote on this? 2. Do we get to vote on which companies and investors we sell our shares to? Do we even get to know who they are before voting? Initially feel torn between being happy with outside investment while maintaining control and also worried about the slippery slope after only a year of fan ownership as can't help but feel we know exactly which way that's heading.
  12. Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting of Morton Club Together Ltd An extraordinary general meeting of MCT will be held in the Douglas Rae (Hospitality) lounge at Cappielow Park, Sinclair Street, Greenock at 7:00pm on Tuesday 7th June 2022. There will be one item on the agenda: 1) The MCT board seeks permission under Article 4.4 to reduce it’s shareholding to a level below 75% of the total shares in Greenock Morton FC Ltd. We are seeking permission to sell groups of shares in the club to individuals and companies who have expressed an interest in investing in the club. In doing so, we will maintain majority ownership (our ownership will not drop below 50.1%). In this way, we can secure additional and ongoing funding for the club and for the first team budget. In an example of this proposal, if an individual or company purchased 5% of the available shares, we would require them to match your MCT contributions. So if MCT continues to contribute around £180,000 per year, the individual or company purchasing that 5% share would be required to contribute £18,000 each year. In the ideal scenario, every £1 each MCT member contributes becomes a £1.80 contribution to the club budget. To confirm, we will continue to maintain majority ownership and continue to be a community owned club, owned by you, our MCT members. We are recommending to the membership that you approve this motion. Please sign up here if you're able to attend in person at Cappielow. If you are unable to attend this meeting in person, please reply to this email to advise us and a Zoom link will be sent to you. If you wish to vote by proxy due to your unavailability, please reply to this email and let us know your vote be 5pm on Monday 6th June 2022. Thanks, MCT Board of Directors -->
  13. Stuart Taylor hasn't even been sacked by Hamilton yet so quite why Morton would be releasing statements is beyond me. Even if there were truths to the rumours it's plausible given how football works that the club wouldn't even know about it yet until such time Hamilton came to " ask permission" to speak to him. As for season tickets. For me the people who are going to buy them every year are going to buy them regardless, but there are plenty people who don't buy them regardless. For example I have been a regular at Cappielow since 94-95 but the only two years I've bought season tickets were the outrageous early bird offer under Crawford Rae and last seasons MCT offer. Not a coincidence that it was times where the club tried things to entice new people to purchase them. If I remember correctly we followed up the Rae offer with the Mckinnon/JJ season and we could potentially be following up last seasons offer by going in to pre season with no CEO, (rumours at least of) a beloved manager gone, no streaming option and a price increase in season tickets so it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those types of fans chose not to buy one again rather than actively boycotted them. It's his first managers job in football as well. He had absolutely no standing in the game as a manager to be able to put a clause like that in to a contract, especially at a rival club.
  14. I wonder if we are offering multi year deals on lower wages to make the most out of the yearly playing budget. Otherwise 2 year deal for someone like Baird seems a bit of a risk.
  15. Agree with most of this but Chris was brought in under a lesser role and promoted from within to the position of CEO and left in less than a year. Would we receive any viable candidates for an external advertisement for a CEO role on the same wages? I don't know but I'm not convinced we would. I do think the club is in a hard place though as if the money isn't there then the money isn't there and if that's the wage bracket they're working in for a CEO then we will get what we pay for most likely. If his replacement brings as much to the table as Chris did in his short time then I'll be happy.
  16. Not really got a dog in the fight as I do agree that they were a decent Premier league team with pace and power that we don't come up against on a weekly basis, but there is absolutely no denying that McLean was ran absolutely ragged that day. I'd say his vocal and organisational skills with the rest of the defence contributed much more to us holding out over the 90 minutes than his actual individual performance did. He's had a few ropey performances and when he's bad he usually turns in laughably bad performances, but he always came back better and stronger after it when people were doubting him.
  17. Best of luck to him. Brought in to do the role without the job title and once he got the promotion he was really able to put a few of his ideas in place. Sorry to see him go but I'd imagine for someone his age with the experience he's gained that there are plenty better job opportunities out there. That's the sort of people I want at the club though. Everyone from players to coaches to staff should be giving the best version of themselves to move on to better things rather than people at the absolute peak of their ability trying to take Morton for a free ride.
  18. Forest Green Chairman on sky news the other day moaning but was very quiet about the contractual situation of the manager that let him join another club without negotiating with Forest Green.
  19. I see Josh Rae isn't staying with QoS. If Hamilton leaves I'd be happy enough with him as a replacement. Always thought he was decent when I saw him.
  20. Another top scoop. The follow up tweet makes literally zero sense when competing for an out of contract player but it's not even worth discussing as he clearly doesn't have a clue on transfers.
  21. Good move for him and three year deal is excellent. Definitely tailed off a bit towards the end of the season but that's no surprise after being out so long. Multiple games where we picked up points changed when he moved in to midfield for us as well. Hope he can stay injury free and really progress in his career. He's probably better suited to the Premier league as well when he will have more space on the ball.
  22. Just read that MCT members get the early bird price even after the cut off date which is something at least and I probably stupidly didn't pick up on that first time around. Still think there should be more incentive but at the same time some fans complained last year that there wasn't an early bird price, so the club probably trying their best to cover all grounds as best they can.
