  1. Despite it being completely underwhelming progress, they are still tangible things that take time and needed done even if it only takes us back to a pre pandemic point, so I've not really any complaints about that. The clear lack of any action or even vocalised plans from anyone in a position of power to bring the club forward are hugely concerning. Getting quite bored of being sold the bare minimum as if we've won a speedboat, or being told that the board have plans to make plans over and over again. Chris is quite new to the club and especially to the CEO role and judging by the wording in the article announcing his promotion he clearly felt he was doing more work than his role and pay intended him to so I'm not going to sit and criticise him. The board again though have had a foot in the door for the whole year getting to know how to run the club pre-takeover and the fact that what's mentioned in that video is all the progress made behind the scenes falls entirely at their door yet again.
  2. Brian Gillan and Stuart Duncan and its for MCT board not Morton board. Apart from that a very accurate post
  3. Glad he's being promoted and paid full time now, especially as the article sounds like he's been doing that role on the cheap anyway. Hopefully he's managed to get his worth and he is further motivated to improve us off the park. I agree that he's been barely visible since getting the role. That's not to say he hasn't been doing anything or been run off his feet but now he's CEO there will be no excuses for not engaging more with the fanbase.
  4. Happy I got to say my piece. Hopefully MCT take on board people's concerns and we see improvements.
  5. If I remember correctly the final payment for direct debit MCT discount season tickets was to be taken in November? If so it would be interesting to see if there are any drop offs in memberships now that all financial costs of those members have been paid. I'll continue paying my monthly tenner for now, but now my financial obligation to MCT is over, I'll only be continuing it if the Morton board get their act together. Any more missteps without any tangible evidence of progress and I refuse to continue funding this incompetence.
  6. The Easdales who are our major sponsors and the former chairman who allowed the transfer to fan ownership being guests at a game really shouldn't be major news. If the board start having to publically comment on nonsense like that then we might as well shut the club down. So many more pressing matters of concern than that.
  7. We do. He was warming up Jack as well but they needed someone on the half way line for him to kick balls to. Obviously in most cases you'd have both keepers doing that warm up routine but we roped in the kit man due to our lack of a second keeper and presumably the fact that every first team player available was in the match day squad.
  8. I noticed yesterday that because we didn't have a second goalkeeper (and probably a lack of bodies available ) that the bloody kit man had to take part in the warm up to help warm up Hamilton with his distribution. As far as amateur goes it doesn't get much more tinpot than that.
  9. Would have preferred that the board members addressed the Lithgow question politically on air and in general terms of employees with criminal offences. Some People wouldn't like the answer but it's much better to face a question and front up why you won't answer than refuse to answer it in the pre screening stage. Feel like a compromise could have been made between the podcast and the board members as there are so many questions needing answered that I personally would rather MCT be pressed on from outside sources rather than answering it without the chance of any follow up questions. The people who care about the Lithgow situation clearly care about it passionately, but there are many questions regarding MCT's running of the club that every single fan cares about and answers are needed urgently.
  10. I don't think any company should be answering questions regarding the hiring of someone with a criminal record etc, but questions about the manager should be fair game, even if they give answers the fans don't want to hear. These board members need to be willing to put themselves in uncomfortable situations because the goodwill built up from the takeover has long since eroded as they stumble from one mis-step to another. I've went from excited to disappointed to angry at how the club is being run and we are only in November, the next stage for me is apathy and that's the stage when MCT should really worry about with regards to fans.
  11. Easdales in talks to buy Derby County according to sky sports. I take it they're still able to sponsor us even if that went through?
  12. I hadn't really considered the prospect of gus as the director of football type role if we can't afford to get rid of him. I actually think he'd be pretty good in that role and the point about having the time to build relationships around the game is something I could only see as a positive for the club. It would also allow a younger less experienced manager to come in with new ideas and concentrate on the performances on the pitch. Only real negative I can think of is that the players having their former manager as their new gaffers line manager might lead to the young managers authority being tested by the players.
  13. Did Dunfermline supporters not sell the club or a big chunk of it to German investors? They definitely have investment beyond their community funding which makes their season even more hilarious.
  14. I definitely appreciate the board answering the questions but the proof will be in their actions rather than their words. It was hardly the most inspiring piece of content but I'm not at the alarm bells ringing stage or anything. If they can do what they're planning on better than they can say it on camera then that's fine by me. I would have liked more specifics in terms of future plans as its been months of the same business jargon with little substance to what they're actually doing to obtain their goals, but again if in 12 months time we are still in the championship with improved attendances, social media and commercial activity then that's what I'll judge them on. The only answer that rubbed me the wrong way was Nick's refusal to comment on if we have the finances to fire a manager on a multi year deal. Every experience I've ever had with Nick over the years has been pleasant so it's certainly nothing personal and I can appreciate its a bit of an awkward situation to answer the question publically, but as it was a pertinent financial question regarding the level of funding the club has rather than a footballing decision question I feel MCT members were more than entitled enough to know the answer to that question. On a purely footballing side of the debate a lot of the video was regarding increased attendances and commercial income, but there is a 0% chance of that happening while the team is playing such a poor level of football and are barely even scoring goals. I just don't see a world where we can have Gus McPherson in charge for the remainder of his contract and at the same time the board reach the goals they laid out in this video.
  15. Nicky Cadden league Two POTM. Definitely seems capable of stepping up at least another level down there.
  16. Cracking news! I've always wanted to be part owner of a shepherds hut.
  17. Really enjoyed this week's podcast. I find i usually have pretty similar opinions to the team but Dean and Alan especially and there's always a couple of things pointed out from them that I hadn't considered that I fully agree with and only strengthens my opinion even further. Fair, balanced and critical when needed. Keep it up lads & Louise.
  18. If I remember correctly when Gus first came in he moved Nesbitt centrally behind the striker and it was some of his most productive games for us. Definitely hope he can get his career back on track and maybe taking another step down can help him get his confidence back. He has undoubted ability and always gave his all but his end product was awful for us.
  19. Yeah he's the one person I decided to not vote for either way for exactly that reason. Nothing against the guy and if he's voted on to the board then I won't have an issue with it but I couldn't in good conscience vote yes for someone who's supposed credentials were the thing I've had the biggest issue with so far with regards to MCT.
  20. Appreciate the update from them but I'm more concerned why Dean decided to leave the leadership team over concerns about the direction MCT is going in. Guy travels home and away, runs the forum and hosts a Morton podcast so if he's unhappy with things he's seeing behind the scenes then that's a real red flag for me.
  21. The most fitting mascot in football history.
  22. I was a big fan of Fjortoft but I'm not convinced we'd have signed Lithgow if he'd extended his contract and Lithgow is a level above him.
  23. Saw a stat on twitter that he's the top scorer in all European competitions so far this season.
  24. Good to see more communication coming out of the club. That's all that's needed. Good news or bad news it's just better to be kept in the loop. Such a Morton problem to have with the stadium as well.
  25. Dear members, In our past couple of updates we’ve stressed how important it is to get our takeover of the club right, as opposed to rushing it. We mentioned it being complex, and for those interested, we’re now in a position to explain the complexities. The system of registering land in Scotland changed in the 70s. When you bought a house after that date, you received a neat yellow “land certificate” which outlined, in relatively simple terms, the title conditions and the extent of the land that you own. Prior to that date, transactions were recorded in the “Sasines Register”. These titles (often dating back centuries and written with quill and ink on parchment paper) had to be ingathered and checked to ensure that you were buying the property that you thought you were buying, and that there were no title conditions that would cause restrictions on your property. For example, there is one football club who have a title condition that allows the local farmer to graze his cattle on the pitch every Tuesday and Thursday. Mark Farrell has only just got Cappielow back to it’s previous bowling green condition, you can imagine his reaction if that condition appeared on the Cappielow titles. Unfortunately for us, the title to Cappielow has not changed hands for about 100 years. As such, it is not a neat and simple land certificate. It is further complicated by the fact that the club has acquired more land in different transactions over the years. The title actually consists of multiple title deeds covering different sections of the stadium. Not only do each of these titles have to be checked, but they have to be pieced together like a giant jigsaw to ensure that the club does actually own all the land that it is occupying. To make matters even more difficult, many title descriptions on titles of that age include boundary descriptions like “ten paces west from the shepherd’s hut”. Obviously the shepherd’s hut is not there any more, and the length of ten paces is unclear. We have already discovered that the club does not own a very small parcel of land that it currently occupies. That is not a major obstacle, as the parcel of land is small and on the periphery of the stadium. However, if we were to discover an issue with a more important piece of land (eg the centre circle), that would be a problem. For this reason, we have to take great care to ensure that all the title deeds join together to cover the footprint of the stadium. This problem has come about due to the agreement to transfer title to the stadium from Greenock Morton Football Club Ltd into the ownership of a new property company, owned and controlled by MCT. It is now necessary to review the titles before the first registration in the land register, to ensure that there is a valid title to the land. The earlier proposals, around Golden Casket retaining title or taking a security over the land, would not have caused a change in ownership of the land and so would not have necessitated a first registration. It is only because of the negotiated position that allowed the club and stadium to be in fan ownership that these difficulties have arisen. As we’ve mentioned we are firmly of the view that it is more important to get this right, than to do it quickly. We are sure that you will agree with this philosophy. The delays have been frustrating for everyone but please continue to be patient with this. It is important to emphasise that MCT and Golden Casket are still totally committed to the agreed deal. It is just taking time to do this, while following all the necessary steps required by HMRC to avoid a huge tax liability. We will update you again on the takeover when there are further developments. Club News We hope you enjoyed the match if you were able to make it along to Cappielow on Saturday, or if you were watching at home on the stream. Just to reiterate, the current restrictions placed on fans when attending matches are far from ideal and we’re hoping they’ll be relaxed come our next home match against Queen of the South on the 21st. There’s been some new additions to the club off the pitch this week, with the new General Manager being appointed along with our new Kit Manager and Digital Content Executive. Chris Ross begins his role as General Manager on Monday next week. His role is a key club appointment and MCT director, Stewart Farmer, said “we believe Chris’ experience and knowledge are extremely impressive, and he’ll bring a fresh impetus to help drive the club forward under community ownership.” Liam McDaid and Gareth Reid have started as our new Kit Manager and Digital Content Executive, respectively. Liam joins from the Scottish FA and Gareth has been supporting the club over the past year as a volunteer, so it’s great to see him step into a role to help the club grow even further. We know fans have been frustrated by the lack of new additions on the pitch. It was mentioned in the boardroom programme notes on Saturday that Gus is working extremely hard to bring in new players and that hasn’t changed. The transfer window remains open until the end of August. We'd like to thank all fans for their ongoing patience and support, especially behind the team that took to the pitch on Saturday. It was superb to see so many academy graduates in the squad, with Lewis McGrattan getting on the scoresheet too. That's a real positive to shout about. We'll be back in touch in a few days with the details of our upcoming AGM. Thanks, MCT Comms Team
