  1. I think we'll sign Chris Duggan, the ex-Partick striker.

There's a chance we'll have a new striker in by the end of this week.

Now that the league's getting underway we desperately need a holding midfielder signed this week.

In order of priority I'd say a holding midfielder is an absolute must.   However, it's Duffy we're talking about so we won't be getting one.

If this turns out to be the case then I'd like to see Pepper playing there as opposed to Miller.

  2. Just kidding by the way - One Dev is lovely but having spent most of my life living in and around Glasgow I find it hard to justify a night's hotel stay in the city.

The Rock is on Hyndland Rd near Cottier's Theatre. Cafe Source is decent - if your ever down the merchant city or Glasgow Green their place at St Andrews Square in the church basement is well worth a visit with the food being excellent.

We only stay once or twice a year and my mate's now the head chef there so we got an incredible deal.

  3. One Dev? Big deal. Anyway Cafe Source at Hyndland sports club and the Rock on Hyndland Road are both far better than any of Stefan King's offerings in Ashton Lane and are much closer to one dev.

Will keep them in mind for next time but it's not an area I'm familiar with so they're new ones to me.

  4. When did Largston become a barman? More to the point who still hangs about Ashton Lane these days?

I could have given a sneering answer like the above and said me, as it was close to our luxury suite at One Devonshire.  After a 6 course meal we couldn't be arsed going beyond the short distance to Ashton Lane.  B)

  5. Craig Malcolm stayed at Stranraer instead of signing here.

No he didn't. He signed for Ayr.

It's beyond me how someone can watch Bachirou and see anything other than a quality midfielder. Excellent player. No idea if he will or could step up a level - I expect he could given the level he played at last season - but at this level he is quality.

That's Morton fans for ye!  He has his flaws but is head and shoulders above anything else in our midfield just now.  Especially Joe McKee.

  6. East Fife have signed Kevin Rutkiewicz on an 18 month deal. Had no idea he was back in Scotland and looking for a club, he might have been worth a look until the end of the season.

Rutkiewicz is EXACTLY the type of player we're crying out for to compliment the youngsters we've brought in.  Missed the boat.

  7. Former loanee Jason Naismith has signed a 3 year contract extension at St Mirren. He has been playing at right back, keeping David van Zanten and David Barron out of the team of late.

My midden workmate was telling me last week that their upturn in fortunes is all down to Naismith being in the team, something to do with his inclusion lets McGinn play further forward or something like that, TBH wasn't really listening.

Anyway, he was also saying he has heard that, as long as their injuries clear up, in January defender Sean Kelly will be going to Morton on loan. Not sure how good this info is, but it's the same guy who told me in July that Stirling wouldn't be starting games until October.

Think I was about the only one on here that could see Naismith had something about him when he was here.  Big, raw and a bit clumsy but it's no surprise he's finally broke through.   :smartass:

  8. Hmm... saw him in one of the friendlies and thought he was poor.

Based on pre-season games I would 100% agree with Moore's decisions on the trialists we fielded. I wouldn't say we've missed out on anyone that looked like they could become an established first team player.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think Tonsilitis was being sarcastic!

  9. I raise you Gaston's howler against Hamilton Accies, where the wheels came off the promotion challenge. Or at Cappielow v Livi where he let the ball in from 20 odd yards, which was yards inside the post. Also the fact that Gaston's kicking is nothing short of abismal.

Stewart was bad, but Gaston is no Walter Zenga..

Gaston was fouled at Hamilton, it's unclear whether or not he was unsighted against Livi and for me his long kick outs are a weapon of ours. Granted, they're not always the most accurate.

  10. LargsTon, Can you tell me why you think McAlister was overrated, or more to the point, how can a player be overrated if the overwhelming opinion of him seems to be that he is average at best? To say that it's a fact that he's the most overrated players you've ever seen in a Morton jersey clearly shows that you have no understanding of the word fact. There were a few who got carried away when he was younger and had some really promising performances, and he didn't turn out to be the player that many hoped he would be, but that doesn't mean that he isn't a solid player at this level.

IMO he is a player who has the physical attibutes to be a very good player at this level, but lacks a good footballing brain. His movement, composure and decision making on the park often let him down. But he always did a decent job for us, hence why an SPL team picked him up.

As for the most overrated player to play in a Morton jersey, I think you're praise of Jamie Stevenson has that covered

Jamie Stevenson wasn't even half the player that Chris Millar was for us, nevermind Lindberg. Talent is about more than playing a few nice passes at second division level.

I don't have the time or energy to go over the McAlister debate again nor am I going to defend my use of the word fact.

As for Stevenson, it was his attitude that was the problem. It was nothing to do with his ability. However, I do concede I cringe a bit looking back at that comment.

That statements a bit rich coming from you, a man who makes a point of berrating a current player.

Berrating? I just think he should've been punted a long time ago and I've no time for guys that haven't been fully commited to the club over the years. Again, though, my reasons are old hat and I'm not going over it in any detail again.
