That lanky dick Graham has at least another season or two in him.

Speculate to accumulate and get him signed. No fucking around

I'm not sure mate.  Very few players a few months short of their 37th birthday have another full season left starting as a main striker most weeks.  I think Graham will be a much depleted force next season.

Partick have apparently offered a deal to Gorgeous George. I'd assume this will be to serve as backup to Brian Graham, so hopefully it's not enough to entice him to that lot.

I think it could be the other way around with Graham approaching 37.   If its purely down to wages I'd like to think we could keep him for the sake of a couple of hundred quid a week, especially with the supposed increased budget.

When you're talking about a player's recent run of form and whether they could do with being dropped for it, picking a cut off of the last two months isn't arbitrary cherry picking: it would be stupid to include January and before because, as I am totally in agreement with, Muirhead was still playing very well in January as he had from the start of the season, and that's why he's earned a contract. Looking at the contribution from the start of February is pertinent to the discussion about how to respond to Muirhead's loss of form because that's the time in which he's gone off form.

He has played on the right several times throughout the season.

What does speculation mean if not spending outwith our means, which we can't do? The club have already said they're increasing the first team budget for next season and that some of the around £200K profit we're heading for if we finish 8th will also be added to that budget on top of their already planned increase.

Well if we're 6 figures in the black I'd like to see Imries budget increased further allowing us to aim for a higher placed finish which would potentially offset any increase through prize money.  Do we have details of the difference between the budget of this season and next?

In his post match interview last night, Imrie appeared to acknowledge he has to consider a squad overhaul for next season. The problem he will have is if we do not finish higher than the budgeted finish of eighth there will be less in the transfer fund to build a bigger squad never mind improving the quality.

I wouldn't suggest spending outwith our means but surely a bit of speculation is required at times such as this.

Like many others Quitongo was awful tonight. He was never an effective outball albeit he should have won us a penalty in the second half but if the ref was in doubt the earlier dive was possibly a consideration. Injury prone and ineffective sums up his latest spell at Morton.

Quitongo was our best player tonight which says it all.

  6. Despite VT mooting an error O'Connor made against Ross County many moons ago I'd still always start the tried and trusted partnership of him and Baird whenever available.  Muirhead shouldn't be starting either but I suppose we've little other option and he has to recover form at some point I suppose.  Home win.  Delighted if I'm proved wrong but I fear the worst tonight.

It'll be interesting to see who goe and who comes in.

At the Q&A session with the board a couple of weeks ago, John Laird made it abundantly clear that Morton would no longer be a club that players come to, to end their career.

Would imagine then, that Broadfoot and Power may well be going and there'd be no more signings like Ambrose and McLean.

That's down to the manager surely and not John Laird?

I struggle with this argument against Muirhead; it's also the same argument people use to have a pop at Blues.  He's scored 16 goals, works hard off the ball and kept us in the hunt when Oakley had his first injury lay off.  He's not the quickest in the world and doesn't do the meaningless chasing balls he doesn't need to.  And, yet, people want to get rid of him because he had a pop at some bellends who were abusing him from the safety of the cowshed.

Where do you think those 16 goals are coming from next season, if we get rid of him?

He doesn't work hard off the ball and has a questionable attitude which is why he's had so many clubs.  It's also ridiculous to say anyone wants rid of him for merely having a pop at the support.

Muirhead and Blues always seem to be the ones that get a hard time when things aren’t going well but I’d miss them both if they were to leave. As has been said many times, there’s a reason they’re at Morton and not in the Premiership so will often come up short performance wise of what we’d like to see standing in the cowshed. But looking at the top scorers in the league Muirhead is giving a decent return. All the players above him could get a game for a bottom 6 club in the league above I reckon (except maybe for the thug at the top who might not be able to get away with elbowing defenders out the way with better refs and VAR on his case).

Or maybe I’m still just glad anytime I see him on the park not playing left back!

I've never had an issue with Blues, you always get a shift out him.  People are making excuses for Muirhead.

I would not be adverse to seeing Muirhead off at the end of the season. He may be a gifted player but with the style we play he is carried more often than not. I doubt many of his goals have come from open play (happy to be proved wrong).

Good to see Broadfoot and Crawford too bring his arms down. Proper professionals the both of them. Broadfoot, even at his age, is deserving of another year for us, but ideally I'd like to see us have at least 4 CBs next season.

I feel exactly the same.  If he thinks he's above Morton then let's see where he ends up next.

  11. Broadfoot has just shot up further in my estimations and Muirhead could learn a lot from him.  Nobody took more stick than him during the early part of the season but he gradually found his feet and became a key part of our turnaround bar a few recent blips.

What about the five months before that? If Muirhead hadn't carried us through Oakley's first spell of absence then we'd be 9th right now.

That some people have either very short or very selective memories is absolutely legitimate to be called out and I'm sure the delicate flowers in the Cowshed every week can put up with it. We can't have it both ways.

Nobody appears to be more delicate than Muirhead, tbf.

Noticed Muirhead’s celebration was a dig at the crowd yesterday… that along with Imrie’s comments would suggest he’s immune to criticism. One free-kick chucked in by Cal Ferrie doesn’t make up for the last 2 months performances from him.

I couldn't make yesterday but he won't do himself any favours with that sort of carry on even if he feels its justified.  He's not been at it for weeks so criticism was more than merited.  He gets heaped with praise the majority of the time and has his own song.
