  1. Aye, that's the size of it for me. I couldn't care whether he chose to go to another club at the last minute, I care about how good he is. Although he's still young and has the potential to develop into a better player while obviously being an upgrade of the likes of Shankland or Oyenuga, I'd hope we can find better. That's what's important.
  2. McManus was being paid by Fleetwood: which club he played for on loan made no difference to how much money he made.
  3. Aye, that's the obvious one that comes to mind. Picked the ball up on the left wing, skinned the full back by turning back inside then crossed it to the back post where Barrie McKay took it down and knocked it in. O'Connor and McKay both doing something good in the same move. Mental.
  4. While McKay obviously has potential, he's so far done nothing in his career to suggest he's a better player than above-average, competent Premiership players like Jamie Walker, never mind being as good as one of the best players in the division in Hayes. The notion of Leipzig being interested in him is absolutely laughable - it's clearly just standard slow day at the Daily Record pish.
  5. Marc McCulloch as assistant manager too.
  6. There's a general expectation that they should make the playoffs: having managed it comfortably in his first full season in charge, they've missed out the last two seasons. If they don't make it this season it'd be no surprise to see him go.
  7. Other ex-Morton players involved in this game were Clyde's Chris Smith, who sclaffed a clearance in the build up to one of Forfar's goals then gave his man a free header for the stoppage time winner, and Forfar's Grant Adam who was booked for over-celebrating after that winner due to diving into the crowd somewhere near the halfway line.
  8. Didn't realise quite how badly their season's going; they're now 8th, one point above Stenhousemuir and two points above Stranraer. Could Jim extend his record of colossal failure in playoffs by getting relegated in them? That would be a real shame.
  9. He looked a good holding midfielder for his first couple of games, then Moore decided to play him in attacking midfield because he could shoot. He never played well again.
  10. Probably because he's a proven goalscorer who absolutely pished this division when he finally got a run of a games on leaving us.
  11. Good. Only referees correctly enforcing the rules will stop the incessant cheating of defenders.
  12. It's the fucking Sunday Post, settle. If it is true and Ayr are outbidding even the likes of us, Raith or QoS for full-time signings, they'll be as dead as Rangers within a few years.
  13. A central defensive partnership of Darren Cole and Ben-Richards Everton would be hilarious.
  14. McMullan might be up to something as a number 10, but he's mediocre as a winger and that's the only place Duffy would use him. Not bothered at all to miss out.
  15. Always a shame to see Pressley doing well, but there's a far more important factor for us here: Fleetwood staying up means there's a fair chance of McManus going out on loan again.
  16. Can we take a moment to appreciate Darren Cole's contribution to Livingston's impending relegation? Truly devastated he didn't remain with us.
  17. He's not named, but there is of course a former Morton player in the team photo at the top of this story about the Comoros winning a competitive game for the first time ever: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35901369 Unable to confirm if that's actually the team photo from yesterday's game though, no team-lines anywhere to confirm if he played or not. Edit: Found them, he wasn't playing. When looking I stumbled across this video of the goal: https://twitter.com/afrikfoot/status/713010121115373568 That pitch
  18. We will now call him Hands.... Banana. The only words he knows are good and ball.
  19. We also paid fees for Iain Diack and Kieran McAnespie. Incredible stuff.
  20. Aye, you could entirely understand Moore's reluctance to bring McDaid into the team when we were still in the title race as it could be a lot of pressure to be putting on a young player who may not be good enough which could have been detrimental to the team as a whole. That said, having an underperforming midfielder in a midfield that had actually had a shape which in turn lent balance to the whole team couldn't possibly have been worse than the imbalance in the team caused by shoehorning McMenamin in while bombing Graham into the reserves, meaning we played with a lopsided midfield with no natural width on the right, all while we McMenamin mostly underperformed anyway. Aside from that though, when the title race was over and Moore had entirely pressure free, meaningless end of season games to give players a chance to prove themselves, he left McDaid out, not even getting as much as a token sub appearance, while giving Kyle Wilkie and Tony Wallace a game. It's no surprise McDaid would look at that and think he had no chance of getting first team football under Moore, so given the choice of reserve football at a top flight club or reserve football with Morton there was no contest.
  21. McGuffie was obviously a rubbish central midfielder, but he was a solid right back and that's why once he'd been moved there with us he then held a first team place down at this level for several seasons between us and Queen of the South. In pure technical ability alone Monti wasn't dreadful, but that's irrelevant to how effective he was; he just didn't really contribute anything in any of the multitude of positions he played. Great penalty taker and we've seen far worse players, but there's nothing else to be said for him.
  22. Player who's out on loan rather than ex-player but this seems the logical place to keep tabs on them as well. Dylan Stevenson set up Berwick's winner last Saturday, move starts at 2:10 in this clip.
  23. Yeah, he's seen his potential and wants to give him a run of games to develop with a loan deal, makes perfect sense. I'd be inclined to make it an 18 month deal to ensure he signs though, then allow him to go out on loan for the rest of the season to get a proper sustained period of first team football. Though of course that could leave us in the position of January not going to plan or an injury crisis hitting at a later date and not being able to get him back.
  24. Yeah, that's not undermining Murray at all. If anything it's a vote of confidence in him. They've looked at their horrendous start to the season - which even accounting for this being a consolidation season has been far worse than expected - and even this early have realised that something has to change. They've asked for his assistant to go in favour of a more experienced one in the hope this turns things round. That's a vote of confidence in him, saying they still believe he is the right man but needs someone else to help him along. They did the same thing in Danny Lennon's first season in charge. Had they not been convinced that Murray's still the best choice, they'd have waited another few weeks and sacked the pair of them at the same time. Incidentally, Dumbarton's record under Murray was massively superior without Spalding against his time there with Spalding. Let's hope that the problem for Murray is not having Jack Ross as his assistant rather than having Mark Spalding as his assistant regardless of who takes over instead: we don't want their form picking up just now. All that said, I hope Miller is just being brought in to replace him in case they do sack him in a month or so: they'll be going down two years running if he ends up in charge.
