Just to expand for VT's "understanding", I read all the weekly match reports including Lower League and Juniors. Familiar names come up frequently, including ex-Morton players. This where I remembered seeing those three names. If I'd remembered 4 or 5 names then I would have posted those 4 or 5 names. It turns out Jamie's RB at Berwick, Kenny's CF at Beith Juniors. David was a player/GK Coach until 2021 but is now GK Coach only at Kelty.

    Dae ye aye?

The majority as we already knew/expected except Pignatiello also leaving.

Of those leaving I'd have liked to see strapp stay but we've been over that a million times. Also would t be against schwake and Crawford coming back next season.

Carlo leaving is a surprise although I think it's a good move for the club. Better options out there if we are seriously challenge for the league next season. Wonder of he'll look for a part time club as he has something else lined up outside of football. Would love to see big Efe join as a coach.

Imrie having a go at Lyon in the tele for his comments about leaving through the back door last week.

Says although the information wasn't released, Lyon actually left the club in January and got a good payoff to pursue another career and went to Annan again because he could only play for us or them this season.

Also says multiple managers gave him a chance and if he looks himself in the mirror and asks himself if he did enough to play for Greenock Morton then deep down he will know the answer.

You come at the king then you better not miss 😂

Fair comments by Dougie and not sure many could argue with him.

On another note I see todorov and Kevin ohara have left dunfermline. Players we may have been interested in previously but can't see a need now.

As much as I'd love that to be a positive sign, I don't think he could really say much else :(

Aye this. He's going to sit on the fence. If he stays we'll be delighted.  If not and he moves to play at a higher level then thanks for this season and best of luck to him. Been brilliant for us.

  5. Just watched some videos clips of last nights awards. Grimmy was very appreciative of Dougie and Andy. I'm maybe looking too much into it but it almost came across to me as him beginning to say his thanks and goodbyes.

Also VT makes a great shout with bringing Ricki lamie back btw!

    Perhaps.

I'm sure that if cost was the big consideration then there would have been places in Greenock/Gourock/Port that would have matched the real oddball choice of venue on price.  It could also be argued that a choice of venue in Glasgow City Centre would have been more accessable than Inverkip.

You are right, the choice of venue is/was not insurmountable to anyone who really wanted to go there.  Not that I would though.  I'm not all that bothered about it, I just find that a really strange choice of venue for a Morton supporters event.

It's a fair point and highlights the real lack of a space in or around Cappielow that could hold an event like it.

Or, as Buckleys, now have the restaurant it's probably came at no cost.

I was thinking it may have been something to do with cost and that the chartroom would be cheaper than any of the town halls.

Regardless of where its held surely its a positive step by the club to hold these sort of events and outwith the atypical working day? The feedback I've heard from people who went was nothing but good.

I'm sure if anyone questioning the venue really wanted to go then they could have.

Liking a bit of positivity 😂

I think Waters fits the system and is what we need. He's a solid 7 every week. Strapp has potential to be so much more but we need a strong and stable team. Obviously you could argue it's the managers job to get the best of players but we need to be realistic. Teams that win this league are just consistent and that's what Waters gives us.

Agreed. I'd be happy if Waters signs on for next season. He's a solid defender and with strapp leaving it will be good ti have that one sorted early.

  9. Strapp didn't sign a new deal until the first day of pre season last year. To me thqt indicates that he was weighing up his options and we were a last resort. Could be the case the strapp has told Dougie he doesn't really want to be here and wants to try something new. If that's the case and his mind is made up then it's pointless for Dougie to do anything else but what he has done.

This is such a weird arc. I mean fair enough, Strapp maybe is in a comfort zone. But I'd expect a manager to want to lock down his best players regardless. Maybe it's a budgetary thing, i.e. we could afford him but it wouldn't be cheap?

That's a good point. All ifs, buts and maybes here..... id imagine Dougie has a plan in place for next season. He's tied up the majority of the squad on new/longer deals and with the projected money he has left he could have targets identified in other areas as a priority?

It was, made even more pound shop by the additions Morton made to the template with the ironed on badge and Half Pounders sponsor.

Having said that - if they had released the revised version (that entered the kit vote) with stitched badge and changed sponsor right from the start, whilst still poor it might have just about sneaked past without the backlash.

Absolutely that revised version looks much better and the white shorts Make a difference too.

  12. Totally agree about Tumilty. He's a good player at this level and u wouldn't be surprised if Dougie is interested.

O'Ware I'd be surprised at though. Haven't really heard much about him over the past few years but I'm happy to back Dougie and his judgement.

Michael Tidser appointed Kelty manager for next season.

I think he's got the makings of a good manager. Knows the game well, has lots of playing experience and recently set up his own coaching business. Will be interested to see how it pans out for him
