  1. The blue is too light - looks the same colour as the strip we had for the season just finished.  I thought that was a particularly horrendous strip as from the back it looked like a Rangers top - their strip is usually described as light blue.  We should have a royal blue.  I agree about the break in the hoops.  is that possibly to allow the manufacture of different sizes? Or different fatnesses at least.

  2. Well, that worked fine though couldn't find anything on the actual fanbase app to get to the ticket purchase.  Did it on my PC and it was a skoosh, and the ticket is now appearing on my phone. Just need to make sure the scanners are working properly as they have been the main problem area for those with a season card over the last couple of seasons.

Wonder if we'll ever see a return of the retro 'pin stripe' vertical blue on white strip that draped Alan's coffin.

    Would love to see it.

I have one of those that was done as a limited edition for some anniversary or other a few years ago.  Rarely wear it as despite being a medium size, it is far too big (and I normally get a large for most clothing items).  It is though a really iconic strip and was I think what Morton wore when I went to my first ever Morton game almost exactly 60 years ago - certainly was the home strip during the 63-64 season.  No sponsorship logo, which would be a big plus.

Can only see 1 game during O'Ware's time with us where we scored three goals or more (15th March 2016).  We were three nil up at half time in that game (2 goals from Denny Johnstone & one from Paul Mcmullan).  Can't imagine why anyone would be booing the team in those circumstances.

Strangely, that table suggests we played 5 league games against them that season, which looks like a mistake unless it's something to do with that game that was abandoned due to a supporter needing medical attention after collapsing

    Double signing with Jimmy Gourlay.

I was in hospital yesterday having fairly uncomfortable things done to me, so wasn't able to keep up with the major news stories such as that one.

Going to be quite funny if anyone ever signs a player actually called James Gourlay...

Kabia with a goal on his debut for QOTS. Also according to their twitter he played a part in another goal by chasing down a ball over the top and winning a 50/50 with the keeper that let the ball fall to another player to score....

    Found his level.

  7. This sounds like a good move.  The ground is still going to be known as Cappielow Park to everyone apart from a very few pedants, and we get money from the deal.  Good piece of business and well done to whoever brokered this deal.  This sort of thing is what is needed to make us sustainable at a higher level of the food chain.

  8. I've just had a quick google to see what inflation rates and energy costs are in EU countries compared to here. Seems to be a lot lower in almost every other country although there is a trend of moderately increased inflation in most countries.  It does look that we are being absolutely hammered, and I strongly suspect Brexit is the major differentiating factor although it is being played down in the MSM of course.  The hundreds of billions of £££ lost to PPE fraud and failed track and trace scams is no doubt in there somewhere.    The knock on effect on smaller football clubs is going to be significant and in our case, where every pound is a prisoner, some creative and radical thinking is going to be needed.

What is the profit margin on hospitality?  Do Morton actually make much from it when all costs are taken into account?

  9. The old mindset, basically that Douglas Rae or whoever would put some money in to cover excess expenditure, is out of date.  I don't quite understand how energy prices have risen quite as high as now seems to be the case - the oil price for Brent is under $100 a barrel at the moment, less than it was in 2014, so why didn't we have mahoosive energy bills then?  Also, when there's a moderate breeze, Scotland is self sufficient in energy from renewable sources and the cost of wind hasn't gone up, so why are we being ripped off?  Anyway, given that we're stuck in this situation, for which I largely blame those who voted no in 2014, Morton need to act to mitigate the effects.  Changing kick off times so that games are played during daylight hours might be an option, although in midwinter the light is often pretty poor even during the daylight hours.  I don't think it would be a popular strategy, but it's probably what was done prior to about 1960 when floodlighting wasn't more or less universal - I think Cappielow only got floodlights in about 1958 or thereabouts, presumably when the cowshed was built, so before that games must have been scheduled during daylight hours.

It can't be said often enough - there is no magic money tree now, failing a good draw in the Scottish Cup maybe.  Morton has to be run as a business, not a pet project.  I'll be interested to see the bio of each candidate for election to the MCT board to find out what particular talents they bring to the table.  I also think MCT need to have someone competent handling the PR side, as recent events have suggested it's not always being handled well.

Checked the lolkirk  squad and ugwu isn't there so assume hasn't signed for them? Also Iain Wilson and gavin Riley  not in the Queens squad either.

I think they're both injured.  That was a right doing Queens go, 4-1 after taking the lead in the first minute.

  11. It's true that energy costs have rocketed, but I don't think it's as much as a 325% increase unless I've missed something.

The reality is that the club needs to have income that matches expenditure.  All those who moan about the cost of admission need to realise that we can't have a title winning team and a tenner to get in.  Other sources of income can be maximised - there has been a noticeable improvement in the merch recently for example - but without sufficient income, it's difficult to achieve anything.  The old model of developing and selling on players is pretty much gone for good.

I note that two MCT directors are not seeking re-election but are remaining on the Morton board.  Why?  What particular talents do they have that can benefit the club?  Should these individuals not also resign?  For that matter, as we, the fans, own Morton, should we not be offered a chance to elect the Morton board ourselves?  Or is being a board member at Cappielow a hereditary privilege or a closed shop?
