  1. Gainsborough Trinity sounds like a West Indian cricketer.
  2. I haven't read it yet but I did read Steve Paterson's book, imaginatively titled 'Pele', and fuck me he's been through some scrapes, almost all self-inflicted. Great book but real reading-through-fingers stuff at times.
  3. Kevin Twaddle is co-manager at Haddington.
  4. Don't think I'm going to sleep tonight, tbh.
  5. Again, couldn't agree more - but the impression I got was that they are looking to time this bankroll gamble very carefully, and that is very hard to do. Even if they managed to time the downfall of Bayern to the correct year, there's no saying that a Dortmund or even an HSV or someone couldn't storm to the top of the league. I think what they were getting at is, Leverkusen aren't going to just sink into the mid-table but rather try to build something and bide their time. It'll be funny as fuck if they fail, though.
  6. Sure, just like Lyon never stopped winning Lugue 1. It's not that long ago that Bayern were struggling against Aberdeen and Getafe. It's mighty foolish in football to assume that things will always remain as they are today.
  7. Believe it or not I raised largely the same objections but they're adamant that the people bankrolling Leverkusen have this few-year strategy.
  8. Good point, his selfless devotion to the cause shouldn't be forgotten. Without him Kaiser Imrie von Parkhead might never have sworded the MOPEs.
  9. I was out with a few German and Austrian guys from work, and they all said that Leverkusen are waiting for Bayern to falter so they can make a run at the Bundesliga title. This suggests, to me, that they're not looking for £1.5m bombscare wanknuggets like Efe Ambrose.
  10. It's "just" the U-21 squad but still, excellent move, anything can happen once he's there.
  11. We've gone most of his tenure with sometimes just one natural wide midfielder so I'd be amazed if we went down that route. You're as likely to see Forbes on the right as anything.
  12. Can't really disagree with any of this, much to my chagrin.
  13. This is atrocious banter. You've totally shoehorned it. People can wander aimlessly anywhere, and in any case that doesn't even match Stef's weaknesses as a player, which were more technical than positional. A real 2/10 post, this.
  14. Harsh. I'm not saying Stef is a latter-day Vicente Rodriguez but his end product was significantly better than Kevin's. I do see what you're saying but it's a little harsh.
  15. That's probably fair enough but that hardly makes them unique in football tbh
  16. Agree with this. I saw someone raise Carlo Monti as an example but Monti's agent was being a baws-oot dick about his renewal, which doesn't seem to have happened here. There was one semi-snide Tweet but that may not have been related. At far higher levels of football than this there are unexpected renewals and volte-faces. Dani Alves at Sevilla several years ago, and then the last couple of years at Barcelona, is a good example. Ultimately football is full of people whom, like in every other walk of life, need to look out for themselves.
  17. I went on the Barrow forum there, they've been linked with McCluskey for two weeks now.
  18. I assume Barrow are full-time, hardly the end of the world for him.
  19. It was Moore and he paid a fee for him.
  20. In fairness this is the correct thread for it since we hadn't really been linked with him as much as we had Declan, so he really is an ex player.
  21. The dream is dead Good luck to him.
  22. Kasubandi scored 15 goals in 25 starts and eight substitute appearance last season. Granted this was in the Super League Division One, which is of dung quality.
  23. Going off his tumble into diddydom, I'm going to go with "mostly his."
