  1. He's not a player I'd be overly keen on. For all mitigation can be offered given the manager and the general state of the club at the time, McPake couldn't get out of here quick enough during his first spell. Looking at the options within the squad, we already have Quitongo, McGrattan, Boyd, Bearne and Muirhead capable of playing wide. The idea of adding a 6th option to that list, who has yet to show they can have a meaningful and consistent impact at Chamionship level, doesn't strike me as a good use of a limited budget. One goal every nine games for an attack-minded Queens Park side isn't exactly an inspiring track record.
  2. I'm still expecting us to get through the tie, but the idea that we will be cantering past a solid mid-table League One side in our current predicament is fanciful.
  3. That's a shame. Stewart has always been both knowledgeable and pleasant anytime I've spoken to him. We really do need some high quality MCT candidates to replace outgoing board members such as Stewart.
  4. That used to be the case, but Muirhead's development in the last 12/18 months has been noticeable. He can't pin centre backs and compete as well as Oakley does, but he is now capable of leading the line at this level.
  5. I hope they are struggling at Hampden. It's a disgrace that they are using it at all.
  6. I don't think it's a role we needed filling in the first place, having someone on (presumably) decent money to oversee the commercial department at a club our size doesn't strike me as the best use of resources.
  7. Club communication has come a long way from the horror show that was communication in the Rae era, which must be credited, however as mentioned above we are still incredibly reactive rather than seeking to be pro-active. The cycle currently seems to be fans moan about X on the Forum and on social media, followed by the club issuing a statement or something similar addressing the issue. The next step is to flip that model on its head.
  8. McPake hated it here and went back to Rangers at the first possible opportunity.
  9. Aye the app is excellent, it takes about 4 clicks of a button to order both matchday tickets and hospitality packages.
  10. If the Cappielow infrastructure allows a high-quality stream then it's definitely something the club should be facilitating. I'd have loved this facility in the years I spent abroad. It's a massive upgrade from sitting listening to Open All Mics or watching games via dodgy Periscope/Bet365 streams.
  11. I don't want to detract from the positivity after a cracking result on Saturday - but my moan about the inconsistent presentation of the badge last week got me thinking. I was in hospitality on Saturday, and being in the main stand gives you a real eyeopener as to how many different versions of the badge we currently use. As the photo shows, there were three different club badges on my table alone. We've been fan-owned for near enough two years now, with comms assistance being given to the club under the Raes by MCT for near enough the same amount of time. For us to have such a haphazard and careless approach to our branding inside our own stadium this far down the line is completely unacceptable. We have a staff member and a club director who appear to be in charge of our marketing, comms and branding - why is this being allowed to happen? We have the nicest badge in Scottish football, why are we taking such a feckless approach to displaying it? I've said it before and I'll say it again, our week-to-week comms have been excellent in the last couple of years and Gareth deserves a lot of credit for that. Social media output is consistently high quality, and I love the way that we've started using the Titan Crane as a mainstay in our branding. I'm hoping whoever is directly responsible for our branding has a plan to get this sorted, and quickly.
  12. Some praise for the club - the Fanbase app is excellent. Being able to purchase matchday tickets and hospitality packages in less than two minutes is a massive improvement and a desperately needed upgrade on the clusterfuck that was our previous ticketing system. However, it really takes the shine off the improvement using a version of the badge without the white background behind the club name and above the ship: This is an unacceptable way to be presenting the finest badge in Scottish football. We need far more consistency in how we present our badge across various social media and ticketing platforms.
  13. I think the top is a cracker. The colours look pretty spot on and as long as the badge stays put after a few washes then I'll be happy.
  14. A conversation about substitute numbers from years gone by. How riveting.
  15. Who exactly has been in charge of club comms this week? Emails leaving the club from a generic 'Admin' account with tinpot subject titles like 'Good News/Bad News', then there is the absolute needless spamming of Twitter with shite like this: I can only assume that Gareth is on annual leave. Gareth has done an excellent job over the last year or so; we now have a consistent tone of voice across our social media platforms, with every piece of content being both high quality and meaningful. Safe to say we've taken a few steps backwards in the last week or so.
  16. The actual kit design is extremely underwhelming, however the commercial work going into the number of sponsors we've secured is a clear positive.
  17. I think that's the correct approach. Releasing two new kits in one season would be kicking the arse out of it.
  18. Much like his time at Morton, Tony Wallace falls significantly short of the standard required here. Despite us paying a five figure compensation fee for his 'services', and him being pish throughout his time here, he's not a hate figure among the support. I don't think he would even get a podium finish if we were just looking at 13/14. He's an utter irrelevance, with the only footnote on his career being that he played a stunning through ball to Archie Campbell at Parkhead. Shortly after hearing a shout from the stand that the Ayr game was sitting at 2-2. Funny that.
  19. We definitely need another midfielder. We've been very fortunate with injuries so far this season, but having to completely shuffle the starting XI about if Gillespie gets an injury is a concern.
  20. Can you point me in the direction of anything that looks personal or nasty towards Kabia? I don't recall seeing anything that comes close to personal abuse. The reason people are singling him out as a weak link is because for large spells of his time here that's exactly what he has been. Pointing that out isn't abuse.
  21. The Tele have mentioned in their match preview that Lyon has returned from his loan, but the club haven't confirmed his return like they did with Garrity. I don't see where Lyon fits into this team. He isn't as good at the holding role as Gillespie, he doesn't have the same work-rate or stamina as Blues and he isn't as creative, or as good at pressing high up the park, as Crawford. That said, Imrie does have an excellent track record of improving players that we thought weren't good enough for this level, so maybe Lyon could be another success story. If I was Imrie I'd be looking to get him off the wage bill.
  22. Hynes was incredibly unfortunate that Hopkin was in charge at the age where he should have been introduced into the first team squad. Whilst Morton did him absolutely no favours and definitely stunted his development, I don't think Hynes was ever going to be good enough for the Championship in any event. Fingers crossed he finds a club at a suitable level and kickstarts his career.
  23. I can't see it. I think he's achieved all he can achieve at this level. If we're still playing Championship football next season then he should be looking to move to a higher level, and he would do so with everyone's best wishes.
  24. Brandon was an excellent signing last season. He was a massive upgrade on Hynes at right wing back and gave us far more balance, rather than constantly relying on Strapp on the left hand side to provide all the attacking width.
