  1. I struggle to buy that it was a poorly worded statement regarding some niche sub group of people that leave and re-enter the ground that barely anyone even knew was a thing and wasn't mentioned at all in the statement.

More likely for me is that they saw that their original tweet had over 100 quote tweets and rising and was quickly making its way around Scottish football fan twitter and beyond with lots questioning the legality of the actions of our " security partner " and decided to reverse course.

How do we know that a) it was Footasylum and b) if it was that negotiations have collapsed, seen as partnerships with other clubs are just being announced now and we could be next?

I'd heard earlier in the summer it was foot asylum and was waiting for it to be announced by them and the club together at some point together like Gordon Ritchie said at the EGM and didn't really think about it again until I wondered wtf had happened to it earlier this week and was told that the deal was off.

If the club have went back in to negotiations and it's announced on Monday that we've got a deal with them too and I look stupid then great, but I won't hold my breath.

Edit to add: if I was confident in the club actually communicating this to the fans then I'd have waited for them to do so but since it's been radio silence ever since the EGM my hope is it being put on the forum will convince them to come put and clarify the situation for the fans.

Interesting to see that one of our direct league rivals managed to not mess up negotiations with this brand as well.

I'm sure the decent chunk of money they get from it will come in handy.

Will MCT members ever get to hear about how at the EGM it was talked about like it was a done deal and now we get to watch competitors reaping the benefits of sponsorships and building relationships with major brands?

I think it's actually going to be one the cat-alog's top sellers for the "so bad it's good" value. I'm getting at least one.

That's true 😂 I'll probably get one myself for the same reason, especially as smiths don't get a cut of the income.

  5. The email states that once negotiations are agreed there would be another member vote on whether to sell to them and they'd be named.

I'm not really seeing an issue with that? My only issue with them not being named was that we'd be agreeing to sell to people we didn't know and we'd have no opportunity to reject it when we did find out.

  6. Never attended something like this and know very little about EGMs etc so will reserve judgement to hear other people's opinions before I form mine.

    1. Do we get to see the clubs finances before we vote on this?

    2. Do we get to vote on which companies and investors we sell our shares to? Do we even get to know who they are before voting?

Initially feel torn between being happy with outside investment while maintaining control and also worried about the slippery slope after only a year of fan ownership as can't help but feel we know exactly which way that's heading.

  7. Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting of Morton Club Together Ltd

An extraordinary general meeting of MCT will be held in the Douglas Rae (Hospitality) lounge at Cappielow Park, Sinclair Street, Greenock at 7:00pm on Tuesday 7th June 2022. There will be one item on the agenda:

    1) The MCT board seeks permission under Article 4.4 to reduce it’s shareholding to a level below 75% of the total shares in Greenock Morton FC Ltd.

We are seeking permission to sell groups of shares in the club to individuals and companies who have expressed an interest in investing in the club. In doing so, we will maintain majority ownership (our ownership will not drop below 50.1%). In this way, we can secure additional and ongoing funding for the club and for the first team budget.

In an example of this proposal, if an individual or company purchased 5% of the available shares, we would require them to match your MCT contributions. So if MCT continues to contribute around £180,000 per year, the individual or company purchasing that 5% share would be required to contribute £18,000 each year. In the ideal scenario, every £1 each MCT member contributes becomes a £1.80 contribution to the club budget.

To confirm, we will continue to maintain majority ownership and continue to be a community owned club, owned by you, our MCT members.

We are recommending to the membership that you approve this motion.

Please sign up here if you're able to attend in person at Cappielow.

If you are unable to attend this meeting in person, please reply to this email to advise us and a Zoom link will be sent to you.

If you wish to vote by proxy due to your unavailability, please reply to this email and let us know your vote be 5pm on Monday 6th June 2022.

    Thanks,

But wages weren't the issue suggested by you or the poster you quoted.  The club being "a shambles" is what you feared the issue was.  So I ask again why?  Why do you think, currently as things stand, Chris left because he thinks the club is a shambles?  Besides the well documented issues with the ticketing website (which is pretty much out of the clubs control) what has occurred recently that points to a shambles within Morton.

I disagree slightly on the wages issue too.  If we managed to get Chris in on those wages then the salary must be in some way appealing.  I'm pretty certain a club like Morton with no big financial backer will constantly be reviewing finances but if there's simply no room to manoeuvre in terms of offering an increase then of course there's an issue with skill retention.  Sadly, football is by far not the only industry facing these challenges.  My own industry, the railway, is currently struggling with this just now thanks to the pandemic.

Agree with most of this but Chris was brought in under a lesser role and promoted from within to the position of CEO and left in less than a year. Would we receive any viable candidates for an external advertisement for a CEO role on the same wages? I don't know but I'm not convinced we would.

I do think the club is in a hard place though as if the money isn't there then the money isn't there and if that's the wage bracket they're working in for a CEO then we will get what we pay for most likely. If his replacement brings as much to the table as Chris did in his short time then I'll be happy.

  9. Best of luck to him. Brought in to do the role without the job title and once he got the promotion he was really able to put a few of his ideas in place.

Sorry to see him go but I'd imagine for someone his age with the experience he's gained that there are plenty better job opportunities out there. That's the sort of people I want at the club though. Everyone from players to coaches to staff should be giving the best version of themselves to move on to better things rather than people at the absolute peak of their ability trying to take Morton for a free ride.

MCT membership should give you a bigger discount than the early bird. There needs to be as many incentives to drive membership as possible.

Just read that MCT members get the early bird price even after the cut off date which is something at least and I probably stupidly didn't pick up on that first time around.

Still think there should be more incentive but at the same time some fans complained last year that there wasn't an early bird price, so the club probably trying their best to cover all grounds as best they can.

  11. Will praise the club for having new season ticket info out by 9th May. Obviously not being in playoffs helps but seems that they're on the ball with that.

Don't have any foaming at the mouth issues with the information, but main worry is there is nothing there to convince the supporters who dont automatically get a season ticket every year to buy one. The incentive last year was brilliant as it made a buying a season ticket AND joining MCT for a year worthwhile, so it will be interesting to see how sales and memberships go on the back of this.

  12. Range of emotions reading the season ticket info so will need to let it sit before I come to a final opinion.

Price increase obviously first thing noticed however I understand that costs of actually running the club day to day are going to rise. Early bird price being same as the MCT price another thing that popped out. Sure last year was just an MCT price to entice new members? Not sure if I'm bothered by non members getting same deal or not yet!

Price between early bird and normal price probably main issue for me. Just doesn't seem much incentive to rush in to it. I'd rather wait til squad is sorted and pay an extra £25 later in the season, and I imagine a lot of people who are touch and go with season tickets every year will be the same, especially without the streaming option which could leave to more people just deciding not to for whatever reason. Early bird buzz seems to me the time where people get excited to buy their ticket for new season and I definitely don't feel that with this offer.

Edit : more I think about it the more the non price difference between MCT and early bird bothers me. For one it doesn't entice new members to join like it did last year, and also there's now no incentive to stay with MCT like last year because you'd need to pay the difference in your season ticket price if you cancelled your MCT payment.
