  1. Just seen the email from the club that the Matchwinner shirts are delayed again :( Nothing to do with the club, just Matchwinner running into issues:

    Statement below:

    ---

As a supplier we are ultimately disappointed at the delay on delivering in the first drop of Greenock Morton shirts.

We quote 6 weeks from the date of purchase, and we haven't been able to deliver to our usual standard this time around due to a number of reasons.

The first reason being the complexity of the design on the tartan shirt, and having to do multiple sample runs to make sure we get the remakes as close as possible to the originals.
Secondly, and the most disappointing reason, is that our factory has had a delay on receiving the fabric for the retro collar, which has delayed the completion of the shirts.

We are working hard with the factory to get these shirts to customers as quickly as we possibly can.
We can only apologise to the Greenock Morton fans for the delay on delivering the shirts in.

We must add that these issues are solely on us as a supplier and is in no way any fault of the club.

  2. Surprised Grimshaw won't be playing across the street for Dundee in the Premiership, I'd have stuck money on him going there!

DU must be throwing silly money about if he's picked playing in the Championship again over the Premiership (if he even had any offers I suppose) and England.  It'll make watching them struggle even more entertaining.

Some of the stuff from their fans on P&B is wild. They're trying to sell this as just a common-sense solution to ensure that away fans can get tickets for the games.

Novel approach, that. Let's just stop maintaining Cappielow except for the absolute bare minimum, get the ground closed to a capacity of 500 or so, then extort the rest of the division into letting us play at Murrayfield or something.

Aye that’s what’s really winding me up, it’s like they’re doing us a favour by moving back into Hampen lol! Deluded as fuck!

Take your point, but surely there's still a long way to go before they catch up with plucky wee cash-strapped Partick and Falkirk. And St Mirren, obviously.

With St Mirren my dislike of them is simply down to them being our rivals, they don’t really do anything to piss me off.

Partick don’t really piss me off, I usually just roll my eyes at their antics, anyway they are going down the tubes so are more than likely to provide a laugh next season than anything. As for Falkirk they’re not really relevant anymore they’re where they should be.

However, taking over 2 seasons to build a tiny useless stadium (even with the pandemic) which when finally ready they then turn around and wangle a deal to move back into a 52k stadium they sold after getting lottery and government money to redevelop is beyond a joke!
Then their fans have the cheek to basically say to the rest of us “everyone else has stadiums they can’t fill every week so it’s fine, nothing to see here”.

They’ve pulled a fast one and if they get an old firm draw in either or both cups it’s got the potential to open a can of worms for the SFA if they’ve not been clever with this deal.

Queens Park to play at Lesser Hampden until September then move to Hampden. Dafuq?

Just been reading this on their P&B thread.  Unbelievable lack of self awareness as to why the rest of us fans are clearly pissed off about this.

This is clearly what they've been building towards the entire time.  Who goes full time expressing a desire to play at the top league and builds a tiny 2K capacity stadium unsuitable from the word go?!

QP are quickly becoming my least liked non OF team.

Payment due date rather than shirt due date by the looks of it.

I've just trawled through more emails and found one stating they'll take the money off the card when the shirt is ready, so 1st June must just have been an approximated date.  Guess it's just a waiting game to see who gets theirs first

  7. Need to have a closer look but considering chat was about a bespoke kit this is very meh and a bit disappointing.

Is the shade of blue not still wrong as well?  Could just be the lighting but it looks like the lighter blue used in this years kit rather than the darker blue from our Scottish Cup anniversary top

Someone on one of the FB groups said earlier that there are promo pics being taken of the new kit today at Cappielow and they will be going out on the socials tomorrow.

And before anyone says it - yeah I know that might not be the most credible of sources but thought I would share anyway since Bob & Mr Blue were discussing it.

Even if nothings announced until next week they'd still be ahead of most other clubs.  Only Dundee, Arbroath and Ayr have released new kits so far so it's not like the club are dragging their heels (yet).

Totally agree mate. Surprised the details of new strips haven't been released although the matchwinner tops coming out may or may not have something to do with this.

It could also be dependant on Joma too.  I regularly look at footyheadlines.com and most of the kits that are being released/leaked are so far only the big brands, Adidas, Nike etc.  Not seen any Joma kits released so far.

On the Matchwinner tops, I was checking my order status the other day and noticed they're now all sold out which is good.

After the struggles of recent years, it was so nice just to go on and simply purchase a season ticket.

Yep, great from the club once again.  I can't get a season ticket but when I do have a free Saturday afternoon, knowing I've got the app on my phone to buy a match ticket without having to queue on Sinclair Street is magic!

P.S. They’re talking pish - the money has gone straight out of my account 😆

I've just pre-ordered the tartan top and there's a charge for 82p then a refund for 82p lol so looks like they've tried to fix it.

We see this argument a lot that we are bigger than Livvy, Ross County, Hamilton etc etc and should be on a par with St Mirren etc but how long can that go on for? How do you measure it? How far back does the history need to go to prove it?

Look at Livvy in the last 25 years-   10 seasons in the top league and counting, 10k seated stadium which includes offices, training pitches etc,  won the Challenge cup, won the League cup, got to another league cup final,  won the 2nd Tier, played in Europe, been down to the 4rd tier and back up to the Premiership.

Aye their crowds are shit but they've achieved a hell of a lot more than us in the last 25 years.  What we got? 1 League cup semi final appearance and came close to promotion once or twice. Our crowds aren't exactly something to be boasting about these days compared to 15-20 years ago.

It's been 34 years since we last played top flight football. Think we need to get away from thinking we are sleeping giant and are a big club compared to others who have achieved a hell of a lot more than we have in recent times. We are a classic Championship level club these days.

With Dougie and Dalrada, we do have a chance to change that though, time will tell.

To be fair how many of those seasons were down to them being financially doped out of their eyeballs?  They've also had 2 administrations since we had our own.

From going down to the 4th tier and back up they had the good fortunes of being (finally) run competently and had a good coach that seems to have masterminded the whole rise and has stuck with them.

In all that time we had the Raes whose plans were let McInally have as much time as he wants in the job, spunk as much money as possible on 3rd tier players and "bring a friend".

It really grates on me just where we could be if Douglas Rae had just let someone who knew how to run a football club take the reigns.

No point in starting a new thread about it, but I see at about 46:30, Kevin Kyle stating categorically that Morton fixed the game at Hamilton in 2014, and Dougie’s name being specifically mentioned by Ryan Conroy in relation to the “fix” in spite of playing well and scoring twice that day.

    Pricks.

Even more glad I’ve never given those knob-ends a moments listen.
Hope the club/Dougie get wind of it and contact the lawyers

Apparently wasn't playing at the start of the season because of his attitude towards the club for not letting him go.

What? He was out of contract and nobody picked him due to us being due compensation. Whoever told you that is talking nonsense

  15. I truly hope there’s no truth in the Griffiths rumours. The obvious unsavoury aspects of his character aside, I just don’t think he’s the kind of player that will react well to Imrie’s style of man management.

Griffiths best spell was under Brendan Rodgers who obviously knew how to handle him, then he went downhill fast as soon as Neil Lennon came on the scene who has a very different approach to the likes of Rodgers when dealing with individuals

From what we’ve seen of Imrie and how he calls out players for their mistakes or attitudes I don’t think that’s something Griffiths responds well to

Of course, but have commercial energy prices really increased by 350% from 2021 to 2022? If that's true, then that would be incredible, to say the least. So if the utility bill really has increased by 350% then a very large part of that must surely be because of increased energy consumption, and not only solely down to cost increases. That would then beg the question, why has usage increased so much in the last year?

By the way, I got the 36% from this....

https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9491/#:~:text=Trends in prices up to 2021&text=The average bill for the,%2C a 36% real increase.

... but I see now that was the increase from 2020 to 2021, so it's not correct.

I’ve obviously not looked into commercial prices but I’ve seen plenty of horror stories on social media about people claiming their domestic prices going up from double figures into horrendous treble figures, some well over 300% so I can believe the club aren’t taking the Mickey when they claim this.
The energy provider will also be a factor as many of the big ones have also taken the piss when putting up direct debits/payments etc in order to “meet the demands” of the customer’s bill so that could also be a factor.
