"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."

Never had you down as a country fan particularly.  I thought you would be closer to being a fellow jazz buff but there you go!

Have you come across Gretchen Peters?

Lesbian, no musical talent, but hey, its coooool

As I understand it, she is not gay herself but is mother to a transgender child - in this case a guy trapped in a girl's body.

As for no musical talent...... I don't really have an answer.  I can understand that you don't like her but to claim no talent is pushing the boat!

But really, what the feck does that have to do with anything? That's nobody's business but hers surely. What matters here is that she's a fine singer songwriter, a gem of Americana in fact.

I agree. I was simply responding to the statement that she was a lesbian and now I wish I had not! You are absolutely correct it has F all to do with anything and I am annoyed at myself for responding!

Not to worry. Cool down with some Chet Baker - 'Blue Valentine' will do the trick.

if you are into Jazz and Rock, hows about a little jazz/pop fusion like maybe the Crusaders.  They are best known for "Street Life" with Randy Crawford but Joe Sample et al are serious jazz fusion performers in their own right.  Try these
