centralTON
Magazine - Shot by Both Sides, The Light Pours Out Of Me, Aztec Camera - Oblivious, Icehouse - Hey Little Girl, Buzzcocks - Harmony In My head, Promises, What do I get?, Boredom, The Damned - New Rose, The Clash - White Riot, Janie Jones, Garageland, London Calling, Train in Vain. I know Deego went down to Hull to see Morrissey, I'd like to know how the gig was? If I'd only heard 2 Smiths songs and they were Meat Is Murder and What She Said (great song) I'd be fuckin' raging, thoughts Deego? Have returned to my punk/indie roots tonight and it feels goooood!!!!

If I'd only heard 2 Smiths songs and they were Meat Is Murder and What She Said (great song) I'd be fuckin' raging, thoughts Deego? Train at 8 in the morning means I was blootered by the time Morrissey came on stage so an honest assessment would be that he was "probably good". I'll need to see him again soon to make up for it - looked in to going abroad in the coming weeks but seems unlikely to happen. I actually posted on Facebook the other day that I was hoping for a relatively Smiths-free set list. Don't think Tobias is up to it as a guitarist to pull off a lot of Smiths songs. I'll leave it to Johnny Marr to play The Smiths stuff. Having said that, What She Said was brilliant - one of the less talked about Smiths songs, but excellent and very good live. Yes, I Am Blind was as sensational as it was when he played it at the Hydro earlier in the year. Likewise for The World Is Full of Crashing Bores, which is becoming one of my favourites. My pal, seeing him for the first time, turned to me and said, "I honestly think I'm about to greet". I think that was a positive review. Venue was really poor I thought with bizarrely rude staff.
centralTON
I know what you mean about Marr v Tobias. Like you, I've been to a couple of Johnny Marr gigs and hearing him play songs like This Charming Man, How Soon Is Now, Bigmouth Strikes Again and Still Ill were much better that hearing them at a Moz gig. Pleased to hear that you thought he was "probably good". Johnny Marr in Edinburgh Oct 14/Kilmarnock Oct 15 ???

centralTON
Possibly Davie, I'm sure I read that he's been playing guitar since primary school. Saw him playing guitar for Edwyn Collins at Oran Mor, absolute two-fer for Loraine and me, we love both of them.

I did some work with him around the Girl Like You time and he was an absolute gentleman. Felt so sad when he became ill. MARTY OUT!!!!!

Davie McArthur
Currently listening to a stream of 'Grey Tickles, Black Pressure', new album by John Grant, on The Guardian website. Suitably impressed. Lots of songs about heartache, depression and homosexuality. Excellent stuff. MARTY OUT!!!!!

He was a very decent pianist and this was one of the tunes he'd batter out from time to time. It does indeed. For me old Horst takes me back to the very pleasant summer of '65. Just left primary school and spent most of the summer holidays walking down to gourock with a flask of coffee and sarnies. See also hills above Greenock Happy days. Deego
The new Ordinary Boys album. Way too pop punk for my usual listening, but I'm overlooking it as the teenager inside me's overjoyed by their return. Great melodies as to be expected from a Preston record, lyrical content a bit emo but whatever. Waited 9 years for this album so I'll take the highs and ignore the lows. Here's a taster:
