HamCam
I still dunno what to think about him. He comes across well at times but you get the feeling he just says what he thinks people want to hear at times and isn't always being honest. The Morton way. Doubtless he tells the truth sometimes but I'm past listening to him now to figure out which is which.

Cappiecat 1.2
Using the term 'recruitment specialist' to describe Dave Timmins is taking the piss by any stretch of the imagination. How would you describe Timmins? Because, after listening to him, I still don't know what his role actually is. The bit about utilising his contacts in England to bring players to Morton was tragic; eh I've got players names and contacts and stuff on my laptop, a few memory sticks and even an old fashioned book. I eh just need a system to bring it all together but I've not got one. I know nothing about the guy but to me he comes across as a verbal sand dancer. TRVMP
That's no way to talk about the genius scout who brought us Sam Ramsbottom, student of the game. Perhaps he was quietly sidelined after that particular signing, meaning we ended up with unimaginative signings like Billy King instead. If this is the case, I'm thankful for small mercies. I'd rather have mediocre known quantities on short-term deals than a guy who made 8 (eight) starts and threw a goal away in almost every one. He seems like a pleasant guy so I feel a bit bad writing this, but he's hopelessly out of his depth and not smart enough to swim his way out. He should be at a lower-level club where his motivational skills and contacts would actually make a difference. Here, at the professional, adult level of football, he's doing far more harm than good. (As a side note, as a country we talk down Scottish football quite a lot, but it should perhaps be remembered that it's not that easy for someone to come in from elsewhere and immediately make a success of themselves. That Timmins thought a guy who didn't exactly stand out at the sixth tier of the English game was good enough to keep goal in our second tier should be instructive.) vikingTON
He's clearly not a very good speaker in front of a mic. Feel a bit for him I doubt that he was compelled to do media engagement work by the club though, so a greater degree of self-awareness probably would have been for the best for everyone concerned. Having our hotshot targets stashed away in a book somewhere as if Wyscout hasn't been around for fucking years rather sums up the tinpot nature of this football club. The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before.. So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

EanieMeany
Interesting to note that Andy McLaren says that we got rid of him after him confiding in the manager at the time about his mental health. He's spoken about that one before, and mentioned it in his book. It really wouldn't surprise me. AWMSC

Having our hotshot targets stashed away in a book somewhere as if Wyscout hasn't been around for fucking years rather sums up the tinpot nature of this football club. Wyscout is just one of them, in any case. There is far more data out there, and far more data platforms, than any one layperson can get through in a lifetime. (You need either to know how to manipulate it yourself, or hire someone who does, in order to make the most of it.) Personally I think that for clubs of Morton's means, a heavy investment in player data isn't worth it, simply because unlike bigger clubs, it's much harder to act on the results of that data. (That is, even a modest English club like Wigan could bring in players from the four corners of the world, whereas Morton would struggle to do so.) But it's clear that Timmins' notebook isn't the answer either.
