I don't have an issue with Imrie calling out McGrattan, because hamstrung as he might be by having the wretched excuse for a footballer that is Tyler French behind him, McGrattan has had chances to step into the starting XI and has played very, very badly. That was probably his last start in a Morton shirt today and if he doesn't get another chance before being released in the summer then tough shit, you had your chance to step up and didn't take it.
What I do have an issue with is throwing barely concealed digs at someone like McGrattan when a player who casts himself as a linchpin of the team escapes criticism from Imrie entirely. I'm absolutely not saying it would be appropriate for a manager to start bodying players in public, but he's obviously doing it of his own accord already. If you're going to have a dig anyone, call out player who has spent the last two months delivering performances Adam Cookley would have been embarrassed with.
Today is genuinely the angriest I've been at a Morton performance in Imrie’s time in charge, and Robbie Muirhead is the reason. Footballers miss penalties, that is entirely reasonable and forgivable, but what's not forgivable was seeing him only then start to try for the first time in 2024. In that 10 minutes after taking the most telegraphed penalty of all time he was absolutely bursting his arse: showing for passes, pressing centre backs, competing for every high ball. Things he has steadfastly refused to lower himself to for the last six weeks, because he thinks he's above it, and it was only today when the dropped points were undeniably his fault that he finally decided it was worth his while to leave first gear and try to make a difference, but it was too little, too late. I'm genuinely fucking aghast at how brazen he's been about it and I can't see how anyone could justify offering him a contract at this point: if this is your approach to Championship football then enjoy your mid-table League Two finish with East Kilbride next season.
I totally agree with all of this. Muirhead has infuriated me for weeks now too. Its clear to see why he's had so many clubs, his attitude stinks at times. His talent is undoubted but his work ethic is appalling. I'd much rather have seen Garrity starting out wide and Muirhead benched as he contributed zero yesterday both in terms of productivity and effort.

We could maybe do something like bringing back the unemployed discounts. Lots of people in that position in the area and better getting some more than mine.
It was abused far too much. Isn't that why it was done away with? I've started taking my 10 year old with me and I think £5 for her is excellent value although she was free earlier in the season. When did it change?

I'd say we're more of a one tactic team, than a one man team. Shell the ball up to the forward and play off him. It's more a problem with squad depth/Dougie's tactical flexibility than Oakley himself being out. No disrespect intended to him cos he's been brilliant obviously, but if we had someone in the same mold as back-up, even a haddy like that Todorov, we'd be doing better than this current patch of form.
That's a fair point actually. Last season we could mix it up a bit as we had a few more attacking options out wide, notably a fitter Quitongo and Calvin Miller. This season we've the likes of Bearne and McGrattan being used sparingly as Dougie seems reluctant to deviate from the norm. Which is understandable to a degree considering our run of form.

Trying to look forward (as looking back over the last couple of weeks isn't fun) what do we reckon we need from the last 8 games?
2 wins for safety?
5 wins for 4th?
It's looking like it could be that tight this season.
Our next 2 home games will tell us which play offs we'll be competing in. 2 wins and the game at Airdrie is massive.

I've looked back to last season when we had another long unbeaten run and that run occurred before Oakley had even signed for us. It's a grim stat with him missing from the team but there has to be more to it. We're not a one man team and we've still the same core of players.

I hope this Welsh boy is the real deal.

I’d love to know who made the decision to not use the empty section of the WDE nearest cowshed, and the section in the main stand.
Probably lost out on thousands, as Hearts would’ve filled them easily.Would've made more sense to have had the Morton crowd more spread out in the shed as moving around at HT was problematic to say the least.

I know we can't risk Gorgeous George coming back too soon and risk the rest of his season, but if he had one leg, one eye and fractured skull...... I'd still play him ahead of Jai at the moment !!!
I know you're joking but Jai will be more frustrated than anyone with his continual injury problems.

Fan base website changed 10 minutes ago from selling Sinclair Street tickets to none available.
Aye that's what I noticed.

That's it a sellout.

Absolutely. Pyro should always be encouraged. I'd even sell it outside the ground.

In amongst the poor fare on show tonight there were still some decent performances.....notably Allan Power who was absolutely outstanding. Our 2 centre halfs were also excellent, distribution aside but there were mitigating circumstances there. We'll be back, this is a spell that was always going to come around eventually. These players have done us proud and deserve the time to turn it round again. Which they will, no doubt in my mind.

That bit of trickery by Garrity towards the end was absolutely tremendous but why the fuck did he feel the need to dive?!? The cageyness around Oakleys injury is bugging me btw, no timescale of when he's back? Surely we know the extent of his injury by now.

sickness bug.
Good news. He was a bit off the pace at Raith but understandable considering his injury woes. A bug could be a blessing in disguise if he's fit for tomorrow.

the twat up the back of the shed who was screaming "Get to fuck Imrie", lets hope his kind don't come back.
You have to be joking. I hope he was shouted down. That beggars belief.

I hope if today is the day the run goes the fans don't turn on the team. If anything they deserve acknowledgement for a tremendous effort. This wasn't going to last forever. Fingers crossed we can turn it around though.

I'm just praying it's not broken ribs. I hope someone ends Taylor-Sinclairs career next time we meet and I mean that sincerely because when I see a player deliberately go out to try and injure a fellow pro he completely deserves what's coming to him.
-
It beggars belief that even after 15 games unbeaten we still have fans of this ilk spouting their bile. No doubt the same guys who wanted Imrie out in the midst of our appalling start.

With regards to Jai I noticed on Saturday that he's lost half a yard of pace. Hopefully it's just lack of match fitness.
-
If it was decided today I'd say Oakley but you could make a case for half a dozen.
-
Anyone heard any news on our injured players? Looked to me that along with Muirhead and Wilson we're potentially missing Oakley and Crawford plus I know Strapp was subbed for being on a yellow but he was also subject of a very hefty challenge prior to going off. Tuesday is massive now and I hope we take a large following as the team more than deserves it. Currently trying to change my shifts.

Aside from the thuggery a few Airdrie players impressed me, notably the boy Hancock at left back.

I agree. Surely a small bit of speculation has to be the sensible option under current circumstances? Especially considering we're guaranteed to generate a 6 figure profit. Securing a play off spot alone would offset the outlay of a player or two.
