  1. Hands was a good, promising player until Allan Moore, in his infinite wisdom, decided that because he could hit a shot from distance then he must be an attacking midfielder.
  2. Take five minutes off of being a complete cunt, eh?
  3. Aye, that was his debut too. Adam was a bit hit and miss but he was by no means a bad player, I remember he had one really good game away at Stirling during the week; I seem to remember he was on a decent run of form in general at that point. I was always quite partial too him because in the match programme just after he signed he announced that his favourite band is the Stone Roses, so obviously a good cunt. Speaking of that Hampden game, Graham Dale also made his debut then...now there was an absolute, grade-A haddy! Absolutely dreadful, it didn't say a great deal for Rangers that a player as poor as that came through their youth system. I wonder if the new club's is any better.
  4. Dunno why he reminded me of him, but remember we (allegedly) signed the wrong Marc(k) McCulloch? That was a pretty odd situation, ended up only playing about 10 games, would probably have been totally unremarkable if it wasn't for the those rumours.
  5. Agree on the other two, but I'd be inclined to have Wallace on my shortlist mostly for the fact there's not really extenuating circumstances with him. It's not some wee guy we picked up from Celtic youths or a gamble on a foreigner or whatever, he's a player a manager (presumably) actively scouted for a side that should have been going in to the season with intentions of competing at the top end of the First Division, was actually somehow deemed good enough to even merit a second glance and was then signed for actual real money and was actually allowed to play for two seasons. I suppose maybe on a purely individual, pound-for-pound level there may worse (such as Simmons, Toto etc), but all things considered Wallace was absolutely fuckin horrific.
  6. I don't think Robertson was necessarily rubbish, as such; he was just totally done in terms of fitness. There were some spells you could see he was a decent player and he had the odd good 30/45 minutes, but he just didn't have close to the fitness to be useful over 90 minutes, never mind half a season. That's not to say he was even a decent player for us or anything, I don't think anyone could argue that he was, but it was a shame for both us and for him that he was in the condition he was when he came.
  7. Carlo fuckin Monti. If we ever feel too down about any of our current squad, we can at least be grateful that we don't have him creeping about.
  8. For a guy who was an absolute shyster at Morton, he deserves a fair amount of credit for the career he's had since leaving. He admitted not long after leaving that his attitude wasn't good enough and made an effort to fix it and make the most of his ability; there's been a lot of players in Scottish football over the years who could learn a lot from that.
  9. The English lower leagues are a bear-pit. A player like McManus is always going to disappear there, it's a waste of time unless you're a 6ft bruiser that wins headers all day; the sooner Scottish football recognises that, the better for everyone.
  10. We could have brought Reid in to shore up the defence like we did last time round, when he promptly shored up five goals for Cowdenbeath.
  11. The fact that he's retired at 27 without any team ever actually wanting to play him regularly gives us a pretty good idea of how good he was, I'd have thought.
  12. He scored one at Forthbank and rattled the bar with a quite spectacular effort at Cappielow. I've no idea what Greacen is like now, but if he's still in good shape etc then I'd be delighted to have back. It seems solid defenders and solid, no-nonsense characters are in short supply in Scottish football these days, particularly down Cappielow way.
  13. I don't really think McCormack turning out to be a honking footballer really alters the merit of shipping out a big wage, to be honest. Especially when the big wage was brought in to shore up a dodgy defence and spectacularly failed to do so, contributing as he did to such excellent defence displays like losing 5 goals to Cowdenbeath and Livingston. Letting Reid go was the right thing to do within tight wage limits.
  14. He didn't go to Motherwell for quite some time after both Shiels binning him and his contract expiring. I'd hazard a guess that the wage he's on at Motherwell, given the time that passed, is probably less than what he was on here.
  15. Peter McDonald also said that Dundee "have a much better and more experienced team" than the Morton one he played in last year. He's also getting much more money. Can we please get over this one sometime soon?
  16. The fact that he's been at a team that, bar one season, has floated around the lower reaches of the 1st Division for 4 years and attracted no firm offer from anyone other than Hamilton despite leaving for a "higher level" tells it's own story, to be honest.
  17. We need a midfielder as much as anything. Having to put up with McKee and Bachirou for another 18 months is a shite state of affairs.
  18. Likewise, and it doesn't come across that way simply because it isn't. I suppose, he could just say "the wee boys didn't do enough, it was all their fault, I don't know what to do" which was basically the upshot of Moore's interviews. Or perhaps "the boys done well" from the McInally school of interviews?
  19. In fairness, at least all the others were genuinely football players and had some sort of merit. If Page played a blinder against us, I'd expect Morton to just wrap it in, sell all its assets and share the money between the fans.
  20. I'm almost tempted to indulge in what seems to be the standard method of reply on here by throwing an insult in your direction. Almost.
  21. In a way, he sort of reminds me of Pique a bit in that respect, i.e. lacking a wee bit of focus at times. I agree with Joe, I think he has the makings of a very good defender for us but the circumstances haven't helped him at all. Between the awful stewardship of Moore, the lack of a competent and consistent partner and switching positions, he hasn't really had a chance to settle. He's came on a great deal since the start of the season, hopefully a consistent run beside Cole will really get the best of him. Cole's probably the ideal type of player to have beside Peciar too, a more aggressive, physical type...again, sort of in a Pique & Puyol way. No doubt some goon will be along in a minute thinking I'm making literal comparisons.
  22. He has a psychology degree, it's hardly amateur. I dunno why some folk keep whinging about that anyway, if you don't like it, don't watch/listen to it and stop moaning.
  23. Makes it difficult for traders to get to Dixons though. Tough decisions.
  24. I'd like to know Kenny Shiels' thoughts on the pedestrianisation of Norwich City centre.
