  1. To be fair, I never knew being called a spanner was an insult. A tool yes but specifically a spanner?
  2. In my experience many sponsors/contributors, especially in the lower leagues, are often fans and the 'investment' is not necessarily driven by financial considerations - football is a strange emotive world. When MCT launched I recollect they were talking about 5/6 parties coming forward at £25,000 - what happened? I agree the onus is on MCT and/or the club to translate commercial interest into contributions rather than simply rely on the ordinary punter to add a further £10/month - a real challenge in the current economic climate.
  3. Do you not think the manager was making a point putting out a team largely comprising those that are signed up for next season even if it effectively minimized our chances of a win and sixth place?
  4. You have to suspect MCT is disappointed some potential contributors have not come forward especially on the commercial side. This is not a criticism of MCT but sadly the reality they face. We appear to be determined to continue as a full-time club but operating on a part-time budget. Next season already looks to be a challenge.
  5. I suspect you will find we are no different to most dressing rooms or indeed your average man on the street.
  6. As I understand it, the powers that be at Cappielow are setting the ground rules to be followed by the stewards. The stewards may indeed be over officious but surely something that could be resolved if anyone was bothered enough to contact Chris, MCT and/or the fan's representative? Cap any chance you have sponsored Lithgow's strip?
  7. You just know whatever option is chosen it will be in Smiths bargain basement bin before the year is out.
  8. Plenty of effort but never rated him as a player. Hopefully the lad recovers and gets back to being not very good at football - Ayr United Football Club | Cammy Salkeld leaves the Honest Men (ayrunitedfc.co.uk)
  9. I see Ricki Lanie has agreed a ore-contract deal with Dundee. Not convinced this is an upgrade from Motherwell and certainly not the move down south touted by some
  10. A positive and something to work on. One surprise for me was the majority being indifferent about the merchandise on offer. As for your comments getting ignored Cap my attempts at constructive criticism are also to be found on the floor of the editing suite.
  11. For me and I suspect CHC the "Hovis-themed good old days" was the last '70s into the '80s. If my memory serves me well 1986 was not one of our better years. I do, however, agree the core support remains remarkably robust/stable albeit at a level where is difficult to justify full-time football - how fat would some of the current squad be if they didn't train hard every day of the week?
  12. DDFR never ran the club as a business he invested 'emotionally' as a fan. It would have been interesting to see where we could have ended up, if someone with a footballing brain bigger than their ego (on this basis Iron Man is discounted) was given the same amount of money and time to make us a success - looking back it was a wasted opportunity. It is accepted MCT are operating in much more trying circumstances but they are really not helping themselves as they continually fail to do the basics. If you need a fan survey to know the club has historically under-performed on maximising revenue opportunities you should just return your blazer and go back to the shadows. The seaside leagues beckon unless the new manager can perform miracles.
  13. Are people really surprised? Sadly, MCT are not fit for purpose. Another Christmas when I have not bought a single piece of Morton merchandise but not to worry it is not a priority for MCT - they have a supporters survey to navel gaze over. Does anyone really believe MCT still has 890 members?
  14. Given both candidates have been in with the bricks for many years and the successful candidate presided over the GMST shambles, I struggle to see how either could be viewed as some form of 'unity' candidate or be capable of offering up fresh ideas. Fair play to them both though for putting their heads above the parapet.
  15. You book the taxi and I will bring a bucket.
  16. Aside from starting on a negative about what they will not talk about I thought for a first podcast it was an interesting enough insight. A long way to go though to rebuild trust and confidence in MCT. Sad to say, I now do not have any Morton supporting family and/or friends who are members of MCT.
  17. Very disappointing update. Everything mentioned should be a given. We must be the only club in Scotland that thinks selling tickets online, offering hospitality and accommodating disabled fans is something to 'boast' about. Where are the new ideas on engaging with fans and increasing turnover? We really are a tinpot outfit under MCT.
  18. More realistically the club would go down because the current custodians continued to over-promise but under-deliver resulting in members turning off contributions, less punters through the door and an inability to maximise alternative income streams. MCT has already established itself as an organisation who maintains communication and transparency are key but only on the basis no-one asks difficult questions. As for ambition targeting 8th in the league is an own goal.
  19. For an organisation intending to move on from the past MCT continue to operate much as before under the Raes. The promised communication and transparency appear to be only on their terms and the understanding no-one has the temerity to ask any difficult or unwanted questions. The decision-making process behind the Lithgow issue and the two-year 'stability' management contracts could and should have been dealt with so much better. Putting your head in the sand is not an effective strategy. MCT rightly gained credit for buying out the Raes but much like previous fan involvement in the club it appears to be turning in on itself. I never bought in to MCT but do pay the monthly sums for my two boys. The intention was to join through the positive actions of MCT but, to date, I am not persuaded rather leaning towards stopping the contributions.
  20. As inspiring as the football currently on offer. Fair play to the individuals/fans for putting their head above the parapet but no matter how many buzzwords and promises to do better changes the impression we are a club in danger of drifting down the leagues. As for the notion stability would be achieved by rewarding a manager, who failed the previous season and most fans never wanted, with a new two-year deal! It really is not that difficult, stuff the management waffle and start to win matches with the odd bit of entertainment thrown in if you want to increase revenue on all fronts.
  21. I agree with irnbru on this issue. While it is appreciated MCT and the club have different responsibilities and priorities there is undeniably a mutuality of interest requiring increased transparency, communication and accountability. For me, MCT continue to be more reactive than proactive and even when it comes to the club there is a distinct lack of output - I do not believe Gus offering up the same platitudes and excuses after most matches satisfies most fans. Of course much of the current 'noise' off the park on this issue would not exist if the team on the park were performing...
  22. That all sounds very positive but you still do not own the club and while we have to suffer what we are watching on the park the danger is MCT will struggle to reach further into the fanbase. Giving the management team two-years contracts is also not the best example of operating in a financially viable manner.
