  1. Maybe just me but I inferred from Imrie's comments his issue with repeated mistakes rests with the centre-backs rather than Blues. In the circumstances, Imrie may be making the case to bring back Lithgow in some capacity. While Blues has improved since he arrived and scored the odd goal he is clearly not the answer in midfield. Too often Blues is the invisible man and the game passes him by. As for the Lyon issue, the lad only has himself to blame for having been moved out on loan. We can all see he has talent but it is surely no coincidence manager after manager does not trust him to hold down a place in midfield. His performances this season have been dire albeit no worse than Blues. We can only hope Imrie has some luck in the loan market with the priority being a striker and the icing on the cake an alternative to the ever present Blues.
  2. Sadly not sounding hopeful. As for being beneficial we desperately need someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net.
  3. Cabbages, bars of soap and other dangerous weapons.
  4. For what it is worth, I was also searched earlier in the season. Unless they were profiling under-tall people with a dodgy dress sense, I just assumed it was a random search by someone who thinks being a steward provides you with a super power. For lots of reasons, aired on the forum, our stewarding is a very poor example of how to engage with your client base.
  5. That just confirms they are a stand alone dormant company with assets of £100.
  6. Delighted No accounts, no assets and no website I can find for what has been a dormant company since incorporation in 2016. Even more curious is a Brian Bonar who went to James Watt Tech is the CEO of Dalrada Corporation. I trust Morton has done due diligence. As a Morton Supporter I am always suspicious.
  7. Not a game changer but a welcome addition. The priority however remains a striker. Until we have a competent goal-scorer in the starting line-up we will struggle this season.
  8. No way there are any small groups of members with a personal vendetta against individuals hiding in plain sight in the Morton support.
  9. It looks like a perfect storm on the horizon for many clubs with operational costs rising exponentially while revenue sources look under pressure. Given the looming cost of living crisis you would think attendances may decline which will not be good news especially if it coincides with a fall in MCT contributions.
  10. A little surprised to see Marcus Fjortoft announcing his retirement from professional football om LinkedIn. He was prone to the odd error but I would have thought he could still expect to find a club in the lower leagues. "I am officially retiring from professional football. While it is a decision, I had very much come to terms with a couple of months ago, the very act of letting go of being “a footballer” has still been somewhat daunting. It has been a lifestyle and an identity I have lived with for as long as I can remember. Since joining my dad for practices and games as a young kid, the dream of playing football for a living has persisted. It remained while everyone around me seemed to develop faster than I did as a teenager. It remained when I decided to go to Duke on a scholarship and pursue my degrees. It also remained when I went from being drafted to not having a club at 24 while I pursued my masters. In the end, my dream came true, albeit an unconventional one. I played on three continents, in four countries, and for five different clubs. I have played in front of 60,000 people, scored a 120th-minute equalizer, and thrived through gruelling relegation battles. I have been praised, heckled, revered, and blamed. I have worked sacrificially for the highs but have also endured many failures. I am thankful for every one of them. It’s been a unique path. It’s been a challenging path. But, it’s been MY path. Whether it be a Scottish industrial town, a New Zealand coastal city, an American university, or “soccer” in New York City, its people, stories, and traditions are its lifeblood. I am grateful to have shared these experiences with the lovely people I have met along the way. Thank you for the support and memories. It is now time for me to use the education football has given me to take on new challenges. I cannot wait!"
  11. Interesting travelogue from Keith Jackson in the Record "Not every team can make such a mystifying, retrograde transition in such a short space of time. But Rangers managed it last night when they hit rock bottom in a one-horse outpost on the outskirts of Brussels."
  12. Jacobs was the obvious midfield player to move on. Not only was he clearly not rated by Imrie but chances are he was one of the better paid members of the squad. While I remain to be convinced, all managers have valued Blues and he appears to be one of the first names on the team sheet. However you look at it this season is an opportunity for one of the young boys to step up and hold down a midfield position.
  13. How on earth did you work out that Easdale would start every match? Not a chance it will happen.
  14. Disappointing but not surprising. Once again MCT over-promised and have under-delivered (the sponsorship deal). While the fans want to hear good news marching them up to the top of the hill to only march them down again does not suggest prudent governance. That said I do appreciate the update and the efforts of all who have volunteered at MCT. On Saturday we had Graham standing in the pissing rain flogging the Imrie t-shirts - I am sure he would rather be just supporting the team like the rest of us. I do though question the idea of MCT directors, who are standing down, retaining a position on the GMFC Board - surely this only dilutes the input of the membership? At least we now know the reality of where we are on the footballing side. No more signings unless the donor club picks up 100% of the bill. No point fans, including me, ranting on about the gaps in the squad, we have to get fully behind those in the jersey. Yet again it looks as if it will be a season where we are fighting to survive rather than looking up. Normal service is resumed.
  15. Interesting to hear we are only attracting the 'wrong' kind of people/investor. The worry is we are over-reliant on one major investor and that appears to come at a cost to the footballing side of the business.
  16. While it has been yet another depressing start to the season it is still early days. Astonishing though the club, regardless of the ownership model, continue to over-promise and under-deliver. Yes there has been a marked improvement off the park but on the park it remains a tough watch. Full-time, part-time or a hybrid model does not concern me, I just want to see progress. Without at least a couple more signings, ideally in the middle of the park and upfront, this season and progress could be a tough ask.
  17. I do hope the latest Imrie interview is merely looking to manage fans expectations. Going into the season with no more additions to the squad would not fill me with confidence
  18. Looks like our signing policy involves trawling the rejects from other Championship clubs. Together with our fan friendly pre-season fixture list this is yet another reason to go on holiday.
  19. Yes you have to back the manager but Quitongo hardly inspires confidence we are building a squad to challenge for promotion this coming season. You have to hope there is better to come.
  20. Easdale comes across as a nice lad who brings buses and sponsorship to the table while Quitongo comes across as an unnecessary injury-prone risk, with baggage, who could not get a game in the seaside leagues.
  21. We have to be looking at better than Quitongo if we are looking to make a mark on the Championship this coming season. Nothing he has done since he departed us for greener pastures suggests he is even worthwhile warming the bench. Remember also the greener pastures was Partick Thistle.
  22. With this offer they have essentially discounted an incentive for fans to sign up to MCT. Yes you may get some persuaded by the early bird pricing but the benefit could be outweighed by those who then choose to let MCT membership fall by the wayside.
  23. Announcing this squad update at the same time as inviting fans to renew season tickets is an interesting decision. Going into next season with potentially more or less the same squad as we ended last season is top banter. I thought the Tele article with Easdale outlining how he intends to be a first choice pick next season was a laugh but this squad update is giving it a run for its money. Imrie has to have something up his sleeve in players joining and/or loanees otherwise we are all going to be back on here gnashing our teeth at a disjointed squad offering little creativity. Is it really too much for Morton to give the fans something to look forward to over the summer?
  24. Does this mean there will be a spare seat in the Director's Box now?
  25. I see there is a story in the Greenock Telegraph confirming Imrie has offered contracts for next season to most of the players out of contract. I confess I was not expecting that. I assumed Imrie would be looking to create his own squad to allow his preferred style of play. Despite the upturn in results after his appointment I remain to be convinced a team comprising the bulk of the existing squad is likely to be challenging for promotion next season. You have to hope Imrie has some rabbits to pull out from under his bunnet.
