  1. When you were in your 40's the Morton scout thought you were in your early 20's? I would be giving L'oreal a call to offer your genes to help with finding the elixer of youth.
  2. Although not linked to the football on the park I thought some fans might like to hear about a good news story linked to Morton. A number of years ago, my kids donated all their old Morton strips to a charity in Rwanda. The charity was set up by people we know and has a focus on the benefit of sport to kids as they grow up. Back then there was quite a bit of media coverage and a number of photos used in the promotional material included youngsters playing football in Rwanda bedecked in Morton kit. A fellow Morton supporter picked up on the story, loved Morton being seen as a force for good and decided to donate a sum of money to the charity. Sadly, our fellow fan passed away last year but in a last act of largesse remembered the charity in his will. It was a generous and unexpected donation which the charity confirmed will assist them greatly in trying to improve the lives of children through education and sport. The only reason I am sharing this story is to flag up how our club Morton, without realising it, are not just helping people in the local community.
  3. Outstanding result for a team of hammer throwers. Huge credit to the team and in particular George Oakley for his first senior hat-trick. Already looking forward to next week and a big crowd - the least the team deserve.
  4. Edinburgh City are in dire straits. Their solution was to ask for consent to merge with Spartans mid season. After this was knocked back the two new backers are solely focused on survival but difficult to see how this will not end in tears. There could be some interesting score-lines in the months ahead if all they have to fall back on is kids from the development squad.
  5. If I remember rightly there was a suggestion the boy thought he was playing below his level. He has been of interest to other clubs, including Hamilton, since being released but I think wages have been the issue.

  7. Nonsense. We should be expecting to win this tie with something to spare. At home against a team from the lower league.
  8. We must have been desperate to sign the young lad given we knew he was carrying an injury. If Broadfoot and Wilson are regular starters I fear the worst. Nothing against either player they are just not good enough and have no pace. Throw in the form of Power and Boyd...
  9. I enjoyed the day as did my two young lads. Fans may rightly have issues with how Fred exited the club but his efforts on the park were appreciated by the majority. As for our commercial activity it is what it has always been - less than perfect. The priority though, for me anyway, is the game on Saturday and 3 points against the Hampden cuckoos. The weather forecast looks ideal for our football.
  10. I am struggling to see what the issue is here. Fair play to McGregor for establishing himself at Airdrie and then scoring against the club that released him on Saturday - the photo of his parents celebrating is only natural. I don't doubt Strapp was/is one of his mates and seeing the humour in the photo simply liked it.
  11. I think if you are looking for intelligencia you are on the wrong forum. This cesspit (credit to DDFR) is where Morton fans explore their navels and vent frustration - I have been a member for years.
  12. So no permanent signings on the horizon, one off out of loan and an invitation for fans to be patient until the end of the loan window. While I never expected us to push the boat out for promotion I was hoping for a bit more activity after the money from the Rangers game was distributed. The squad lacks depth and in some positions quality. imagine if we have any more injuries. As always, it's the hope that kills you.
  13. The thought of Wilson anywhere in the back line gives me the fear. Aside from running as if he is towing a caravan he was never that great in the air.
  14. What a lack of ambition potentially bringing back Ian Wilson. I know others thought he created a balance in the team when he was previously signed but he never did it for me. I hope this is just another random rumour and that really we are focusing on defensive signings.
  15. Every team needs a ginger. Welcome aboard AP.
  16. I see the rumour is Garrity is heading to Annan on loan. Unless we have some incoming a strange one while we struggle to fill a bench.
  17. Imrie is on record stating O'Connor is a more than capable RB. Not done much wrong for me as RB but I just prefer him as a CB. Most teams are still trying to fill gaps in their squad. I just read Martindale's interview confirming Livingston had offered six players contracts this week and they all turned the offers down. I suspect like fans of other clubs we will just have to be patient. Better to wait and get the 'right' player than sign someone for the sake of it.
  18. Unless I am missing something the funding from Dalrada is ongoing. It was an initial one year deal with the option to extend which was taken up. The Board and MCT have, however, been clear our business model is to be sustainable, avoiding the annual losses run up under the Raes requiring the family to fill the hole they dug.
  19. Losing Baird for at least 2 months is a major blow. Imrie clear he wants at least two players in albeit the funds may only be there for one more addition. I confess I am surprised the budget is so tight given the departures from the squad, the much proclaimed sponsorships, increased season ticket sales and the lack of any update from the Board/MCT on the situation. I was sceptical Imrie's absence from media duties was an issue but it appears clear he is very frustrated at the current position. Our hopes for a back up keeper, right back and midfielder look like being our usual fantasy wish list rather than what is needed to kick on from last season.
  20. Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey?
  21. I just thought he was more of a passing footballer/baller than what we currently have. If we are looking to break down a team or chase a game Deane looked like a good option while Blues, Gillespie and Crawford are grafters. Appears size and the boys lack of Championship experience counted against him.
  22. Not seen much of the lad but cannot help but feel disappointed as he offered the one bit of class on Saturday to follow up his Alloa cameo. When you think of the players we already have in midfield Deane appeared to offer something different and no way would he have been an expensive signing. Last season we were never that creative hence struggled to break down teams so you just have to hope Dougie has an upgrade in mind.
  23. I was hoping after last season the improved sponsorship deals, more MCT members and higher season tickets would allow us to kick on but so far most signings look to be a downgrade. Boyd scored one goal in over 40 games last year so prospects for him sharing the load appear slim. I also struggle with the Airdrie pay more than us chat, it does not stack up unless they are spending more than you would expect them to bring in. Hopefully a run in the cup will dispel my negativity.
  24. How dare you describe my modus operandi are requiring wrinkles. NewTon was fine until he was groomed by Harold Shipman.
  25. A leopard does not change his spots.
