Saturdays game is gonna be a stereotypical end of season show. Two teams with very little to play for, bar contract renewals. It'll either be a great game of flowing football, or a shitshow of cannabearseddom.

I think Raith will come down looking to play well and give them some momentum going into the playoffs. Their players will be playing to ensure they are in the starting 11 for those games. Think it will be about 3 weeks before their semi final so can't see them resting loads of key players etc unless they have niggles whereas I'd imagine most of our lot will be thinking about their summer holidays. A good few will know they aren't getting new contracts either.

Comfortable away win for me. Raith -1 is nearly 4/1...

    Swap QP for Inverness please.

Quite enjoy playing QP, they can't get near us, 5 wins and 3 draws in last 8 games with Cal Ferrie at the wheel, the gift that keeps on giving. They can stay for me.

Inverness to go down and never been seen at this level again!

If we're being greedy, results for the remainder of the season could align to allow us the opportunity to relegate Arbroath, end Raith's title challenge and put Inverness in the relegation playoffs, while securing the top four ourselves. Could be an exceptionally fun or utterly disastrous April.

I'm hoping Raith are out of the promotion race by the time we play them( remember how shite we were once we knew the league challenge was over in 2013)  Arbroath are relegated, their players have chucked it and are thinking about their summer holidays and Inverness are resigned to 9th on the last day so play kids to keep their first team fresh for their 1st playoff game.

Easy 9 points right there for the last 3 games!

  4. Aye felt someone had to take the boy down and take a yellow. If that happens we get to ET for me.

I understand Dougie not wanting to change the shape as it was working well but we were crying out for some fresh legs towards the end and looked so tired, maybe he would have changed it had we held on for the 90.

Not to be and just need to hope we kick on again and finish strong.

Was thinking on the drive home, we've probably secured around 750k of unexpected revenue in the last 14 months from Rangers and Celtic away and this cup run. Its been a very successful period for us and hopefully we can build on it.

Looks like it'll be a sell out. Currently that's the only aspect I'm excited for. Come match day I'm sure I will be buzzing to get out of work and down for the game though.

I wonder if we will see Oakley, wrapped up in cotton wool for 50/60 minutes?

There's still over 1100 Sinclair St tickets left, will be doing very well if we shift even half of them.

Glad they put that incident in the highlights ! That’s some world class cheating from Carragher there, his father will be so proud of him

Aye shockingly bad but got away with it due to the incompetence of the ref. I get why the rule is there, but it's existence allows it to be exploited and ref's need to look out for it more and be stronger, rather than just blow the whistle anytime someone goes down.Yesterday is a fine example of it, blatant cheating!

I'm sure he dived in the box for a pen in the second half too.

Ref also had no idea on our goal and clearly reacted to the Inverness players.

  7. Massive blow no doubt, hopefully its just weeks.Thankfully we do have decent options to fill in like they did on Tuesday. I'd prefer Muirhead through middle with 2 of Garrity, Quitongo, Bearne and McGrattan on wings.

Felt we had a real chance of giving Hearts a scare but having those players out( and Strapp who I think is suspended) probably means we don't.

It seems obvious that we should be prioritising the resigning now of those players who could potentially make the step-up to Premiership level and whose contracts expire in the summer. This would either improve our chances of survival if we do get promoted, or strengthen our promotion challenge next season. On the face of it, it's a no-brainer.

In reality though, actually achieving that's going to be extremely difficult if not impossible. If we were to offer new contracts now it would obviously have to be on our Championship level budget. But why would they sign a Championship budget contract with us now if there's a possibility of getting a better contract offer in the summer, either from us if we do win promotion and increase our budget accordingly, or from another club with a bigger budget?  No harm in trying I suppose, but I would be very pleasantly surprised of any of the guys mentioned above resign for us before the end of the season.

You could offer a new contract with a clause saying the player gets a wage increase should we get promoted.

I don't blame a single player for holding out until the Summer. If Oakley and Strapp continue the form they have shown, there's going to be much bigger clubs than us interested in them and will most likely leave. ( nuts to think Strapp still hasn't lost a game since his return)

Oakley has had so much good press recently, most managers outside the top 4 or 5 will be looking at him as a potential option for next year.

Crawford, Blues, Muirhead not quite in the Oakley/Strapp bracket of interest but makes sense for them to keep their options open.

I think one of the factors is due to Inverclyde being a deprived area. We used to offer concessions for people who are unemployed, or on disability allowance. The way I see it, the more people we encourage - the more money in the club’s pocket.

I think even if we made every adult a tenner and every kid free on Sat like Raith did last night,  we'd still struggle to get more than a few hundred extra.

When I think of 3500 home fans against Motherwell and then around 1800 against Airdire,   I struggle to think of a reason why 1700 never came on Saturday.

  10. Think we will struggle to get a decent striker in at this stage. QP and Dunfermline were looking for weeks and eventually QP settled for Cillian Sherdian whilst the Pars got Chris Kane, neither would excite me.

Raith did get Rudden but that's because they are shagging Dundee to keep United down.

Inverness did manage to get Alex Samuel but that was purely down to Geography.

Need to hope the big man is out for days rather than weeks.

I was very impressed when I heard the attendance last night being announced (4,175 with about 250 Morton fans).  At the moment we could only dream of getting close to 4k home fans on a regular basis.  The only times we have got into that territory this season was for the games against Partick & Motherwell, and on both occasions the away support was a big factor.

Looking at historic average attendances over the past 10 years, our fanbase during that time looks to be of a very similar size to Raith (from season 2012-13 to 2022-23 our average gate was 1,945 and Raith's 1,984, albeit they spent a couple more seasons in League 1 than we did).  This season they have somehow managed to increase their average attendance by over 2k from last season.  Even if you remove the derby against Dunfermline & 2 home games against Dundee Utd, their home average is still over 3K!

It makes me wonder what (if anything) we could do to try and emulate this.  Over the course of the season, this extra gate money could be worth up to 350K (based on the assumption of an increase of 2000 fans at £10 per person) - a serious amount of cash for a club at this level.  I don't think its solely down to them having a good season -  Raith have over 2000 season ticket holders so that is a significant number of people who made the commitment even before the season started.

As far as I can see, they haven't been dropping their pants too much on ticket prices either(notwithstanding the excellent £10 price for last nights game) - I think their season tickets are about the same price as ours so I would like to see us look at how Raith have managed to be so successful in promoting ticket sales & try to see if we can learn any lessons from it.

I suppose the elephant in the room is that prior to MCT takeover, fan-club relations were at quite possibly an all time low.  Great progress has been made in repairing that, but maybe it will take a bit more time for goodwill to get back to anywhere near the levels it was in the early 2000's.

(I have put this in here as opposed to the match thread as its a wider point about the clubs commercial operation rather than specific to last nights game)

I think it's simply down to their takeover in the summer and throwing cash about like Gretna did.

Fans don't need much to buy into a project so when they are signing right good players on 2-3 year contracts they quickly bought in. On top of that, they made improvements to their stadium, improved their communication channels and social media presence etc so their whole summer was one good news story after another and their fans believed something special could happen.

To be fair to them, the money they spend in the summer has probably been covered by the increase in average gates so their gamble worked. Doubt they expected an average of 4 2k

I'd like to think we will have something similar this Summer. Money in the bank to make some infrastructure improvements, , a clear focus and strategy and hopefully an increased budget for Dougie to bring in some good players.

I think it's practically impossible for us to have 3-4000 inside Cappielow any time soon but 2000 home fans should be the absolute minimum target.

Aye Millens boy would be a good shout decent right back and experienced at this level.

In regards to Quitongo personally I wouldn't be extending his contract. He has barely played the past few seasons due to injury and even though it was a good ball on Saturday more often than not he makes the wrong choice, yes pace and power he ticks the boxes but end product isn't there for me.

He played 32 games last season and had 3 sending offs so had to serve a number of suspensions. His fitness was good last season apart from the month of March.

This season must be frustrating for him. He will need a really good run of games from now until the end of the season or I can't see Dougie keeping him.

Anyone heard any news on our injured players?   Looked to me that along with Muirhead and Wilson we're potentially missing Oakley and Crawford plus I know Strapp was subbed for being on a yellow but he was also subject of a very hefty challenge prior to going off.   Tuesday is massive now and I hope we take a large following as the team more than deserves it.  Currently trying to change my shifts.

Seen someone with a Muirhead surname reply on Facebook saying Robbie wasn't well so hopefully just a bit under the weather and nothing serious.
