  1. Is there any indication that any of these highlighted parts are the case or are we just inventing scenarios about the people involved? I agree more communication is important but for a poster to be forecasting the end of the football club because there haven't been more updates about who is running the club is just madness. I'm not necessarily defending the incumbents - I contacted them after the takeover was first announced to offer some existence or advice, given I'd spent 3 years working for a supporter owned football club and thought my experiences would be extremely relevant, but after being cc'd into some sort working group email I haven't heard anything since...maybe they think they know better?
  2. It's been three weeks since the date mooted as the official takeover date passed, there's been a couple of updates telling us why that hasn't happened yet and we know they are working on it, and you think the club is going to go out of existence because they haven't provided more updates? Would you like an update to say there's no news? These are essentially volunteers setting this up so I think we can probably show a bit of patience to let the thing happen before getting all woe is me about it.
  3. ...because they haven't done this before and hadn't anticipated these delays? Maybe they only want to provide updates when they have something concrete to update us with? Maybe it's only the 9th of June and they should be given a chance to put right the wrongs of the past 20 years? Maybe I don't know because they've stopped replying to my emails?
  4. There has been an update on that though, telling us it had been delayed and more info would be available when the legal/HMRC hoops had been jumped through...
  5. Why are they offering a version that sees the club retain debts that exist as a result of how they managed the club? Dougie ran the club like it was his pet project (including signing players without telling the manager at the time) and now, potentially, the club gets saddled with two million pounds of debt because they don't fancy it anymore?
  6. Perfect for taking on one of the 19.99 Jab & Go Ryanair flights that won't happen
  7. A good statement, hopefully this is a sign that members of MCT being on the club board provides additional clarity and transparency to the support. Good hear membership numbers are rising as well.
  8. Absolutely - the entire range is absolutely overpriced. 14.99 for a calendar is indeed a rip-off. I wonder if it's related to Smiths ordering / supplying on behalf of Morton and both parties trying to make sure they receive a margin on each product, which in turn drives up the price. As always, I'm not surprised they can't get this kind of thing right...it really shouldn't be this difficult.
  9. Hard to take the comments seriously when he says he plays like Hector Bellerin (ha) and likes Keiran Tierney's Stone Island style (what).
  10. Straight to Greggs after training then...
  11. First of all thank you for setting up the podcast. While the interference was unfortunate I'm sure you recognise the background noise was probably avoidable and made it a harder listen that it probably needed to be (perhaps due to equipment limitations?) I'm sure over time with better tech and the benefit of hindsight the interviews will go from strength to strength, and it was certainly interesting to get a behind the scenes view from that period and I look forward to hearing from other past players and legends. If there's a Patreon or similar setup that helps the podcast invest in better equipment I'm sure plenty of us would throw a few pounds your way to help
  12. Being based in Australia again I try to keep up with the A-League, but it's a hard watch at times. Badly run and takes place during summer when it's far too hot for the game to be played at a decent tempo. Moving to winter is the solution but not sure they will get same TV time (and stadium availability) when the Aussie rules is on...
  13. I used to work with a Villa fan and he absolutely adores him, great wee player. We've been crying out for Scotland to be hard to beat and able to grind out results, long may this continue. Tonight a decent dress rehearsal for playing Serbia where we're bound to be penned in at times.
  14. The time for crowdies has come and gone and made sense for the leagues who restarted to conclude their seasons over the summer. Nobody cares about that anymore because it's too late and we're all just frustrated we still can't get into grounds. And what Morton supporting demographic do they think Cliff Richards is appealing to? Old women? Weirdoes?
  15. We've been crying out for Scotland to be hard-to-beat and better at grinding out results, and this triple header might be the turning point. Serbia are the favourites but their home form has been sketchy recently. All of a sudden i'm reasonably confident we can go there and match them. Ironically, perhaps nobody in the ground to get nervous or annoyed has helped the team find their groove (he says, assuming we aren't about to get a shoeing from the Czechs)
  16. That's what I was going to suggest, perhaps the long-term right-back solution? Can only be a good thing that he's playing in a league and country that will properly educate him on tactics and how to be a defender...
  17. Are...are Morton selling a 1st Team Training Shop via Smiths which is not the actual 1st Team Training Top that is being used by the actual 1st Team!????
  18. There must be hundreds of businesses in the UK who can design and supply the kind of merch you are talking about, and we'd all like to see Morton offer. I wonder if the club is restricted because a/the deal with Smiths??
  19. If Morton were 'officially licensed' with them, then yes they were receiving a fee per case sold. I also dealt with them in my old job and set up a similar deal, initiated solely because I saw they had connected with Morton. The fact you can request any kit for pretty much any phone is a nice selling point but we never actually made much money from the deal, I think partly because they are quite pricey*. Morton might have been better with https://theterracestore.com/ or similar, where you can get retro stuff for a decent price and quality as well. *Edit: I say Nostalgia are pricey, but I see the the 3d versions are even more expensive...!
  20. That of course is not what I said and I'm not disagreeing with you on your general point, merely trying to second-guess the intentions behind the statement. I'm assuming they've said that figure on purpose, perhaps based on some things they've immediately identified don't work or could work better. Perhaps only because it sounds good, time will tell. Also, nobody is saying they aren't focusing on revenue driving and in fact I'd be disappointed if that's not their primary focus.
  21. Of course nobody is saying that's what happened but as we know there are discussions ongoing between MCT and GMFC at the moment, it's not unreasonable to think that MCT are specifically looking at (and may have already identified) ways they think extra revenue can be found and/or saved.
  22. My guess would be that the figure comes as a result of the fact they've already spoken to the club and already been involved in some fact-finding discussions about overheads etc. Also, surely it's a good thing that (if and) when they take over the club they know how it has been run and can make changes immediately, should they be required. If they don't carry out this process in advance, they'll have to do it while running the club which just wastes more time and money. They're also not going to disclose in advance areas they think are overspends or wastes of money, some of it is probably confidential anyway (salaries, debts, etc)
  23. There's also a Media Assistant on the staff list, so perhaps he can carry out the kind of things I'm talking about - better online engagement and content from the club - rather than hiring a Marketing Manager initially. Regular website updates, social media interaction and player/club/community focused content are a must.
