  1. If I ran a stewarding company I would also insist on an "all or nothing" approach - either my company is given full latitude to interpret the rules in real-time as we see fit, or we don't do the job. In this sense, the stewards having final say without having to radio in to the directors' box for approval is the correct thing to do. I would also ensure, however, that the line manager on duty that day didn't so disgust the regular customers - many of whom either have a direct line to that directors' box or are indeed by equity a part of that same directors' box - that they would give a second's thought to us, much less want us replaced. I would instead decline to shit on my own doorstep, something seemingly above the people under contract this season. Regarding getting in late, however, I believe their hands are largely tied: as absurd as it may be, if you report a certain percentage of capacity at a certain time it's not wise to go above it, even if it's one person in an ocean of free terracing (hence on all-ticket days the fact you can't move between Sinclair Street and the Cowshed.) But even if that's an unavoidable circumstance, there are ways and means of communicating that to the fans. A single person or family showing up late is hardly going to cause any trouble; there's no reason to be anything other than sympathetic to them. Coming out all guns blazing against peaceful, regular fans while ignoring actual disorder is exactly how you get people not to take you seriously; for that reason, if no other, if I was on the GMFC board I would be giving serious scrutiny to the stewardship contract ahead of the 2024-25 season. It's one thing to say "OK, there's some arseholes on staff, but the fans will get over it and come back" - it's quite another to say "OK, the stewards are sending mixed messages and going after easy targets, and fans are noticing they're nowhere to be seen when there's some actual rule breaches going on - it would just take one dodgy incident in a Renfrewshire derby for this to go south very quickly."
  2. Marginally better than the last game but significant improvement needed.
  3. Zero percent chance we score based on that first half, really disappointing.
  4. It's understandable, you could imagine clubs or leagues gaming the system otherwise.
  5. At first I thought he pointed to the spot as well and I'm sure I saw players making their way to the D.
  6. Bad day at the office, without Oakley we have no threat, back to the drawing board. No point in tears and snotters, we just had a record-breaking run and now we're back down to earth, it'll happen. Got to stay right behind Dougie and the team.
  7. Agreed completely, we've been very poor and even though the second half is a slight improvement there is still no chance of us properly testing them.
  8. They could give us a corner every minute until the end of the game and we wouldn't test the 'keeper.
  9. Ref's absolutely fucked it, what an ineffectual performance.
  10. We've fluffed a few half-chances but the midfield weakness is the big problem here. Wilson is such a miss.
  11. We have our own injury problems. Mullen, Wilson and Oakley still out tomorrow. I know it's just three players but I'd call two of them absolutely key, and while MacDonald did well on Saturday, Mullen is the better of the two.
  12. Tearing it up at Edinburgh City with three yellows and a red in eight starts so far.
  13. Some laugh going back to July and seeing the usual suspects absolutely ending themselves over our failure to sign "Frankie Deane."
  14. If you're caught with away colors in the home end you should be kicked out and we should actually enforce it.
  15. I lost interest in UK politics when we lost the referendum but I'll say that Hamza looks like a wrong 'un so whatever they say he did, I'll agree he did it.
  16. I've only been to two games this season due to being overseas, but one of them was at Ibrox and I thought Power showed great positioning there. He clearly couldn't be everywhere he wanted to be but mentally he's invaluable. When you look at Dougie's signings he's got an amazing hit rate. Not all of them work out but by the percentages he clearly can spot what he's looking for.
  17. Oh, and congratulations to Imrie, Millen, and the players and other coaching staff for 16 games unbeaten, our new record in competitive football.
  18. Happy with that. Two key players out injured, two early bookings and we kept them pretty restricted. Raith can say they had their own rotation (e.g. benching Vaughn) but I think we were slightly the better side and deserved the point.
  19. Their change in fortunes is so different to ours. For us it was just getting guys back from injury, getting a bit sharper and getting confident back. QP on the other hand completely binned their existing model of having young guys play it out from the back, signed a few experienced players, and put in charge a guy with relatively good experience in the Scottish game.
  20. I'd be happy with one, since both center backs are on a booking. I don't think it was a penalty. We saw it from three angles and I think it hit just off the right shoulder.
  21. Yeah, they were surprised it was a booking for Baird, but for me it was a yellow, clumsy challenge.
  22. The wheels have well and truly come off the Partick rickshaw.
  23. Can't think of a more competitive season for it. For me it's Oakley for consistency, Baird not far behind, but you could give it to any one of six or seven guys and I'd think they deserved it.
