  1. A point in any of our last three games should be enough I imagine to keep away from 9th. Although after the last 6 weeks, I'm not confident we will get that.
  2. What a fucking terrible performance that was. The squad needs an overhaul, no doubt about it. Imrie starting to test my patience now.
  3. And I actually think the persistence of giving Crawford and Muirhead 90 minutes every week has probably hampered them. Crawford's look knackered for months. I'm sure the likes of McGrattan and Bearne could play that role behind Oakley or out wide to replace Muirhead from time to time. My point is that they (Crawford & Muirhead) shouldn't be undroppable and the replacements for them are not as bad as you make out.
  4. Perhaps I mean in comparison to other players. Crawford and Muirhead haven't really done much since January but are the first names on the team sheet and undroppable. Likes of Bearne, as one example, has a MOTM against QP, off game v Airdrie (like everybody else) yet is the only attacking player dropped for Ayr and doesn't even come on off the bench, yet Muirhead gets 90 minutes and Crawford moreorless the same.
  5. The problem with Crawford, Blues and Muirhead is Imrie's loyalty to them. No matter how ineffective they are on the pitch, they're never dropped and rarely subbed. A spot on the bench for them would probably do them good, especially Crawford who does some amount of running. Macdonald - Release. Injured most of the season and was at fault for many goals at the start. Cheaper backup be better. French - wouldn't offer if released from Dundee. Can do better. Don't think he's as bad as many make out but we can do better. Albeit I reckon he'd be better at centre half. 2 games this year at CB if I remember and 2 clean sheets (I think). O'Connor - Keep. Solid defender at this level. Broadfoot - Release. Too slow and not got another year at this level imo. Good career but time to go. Waters - Release. He is solid enough but we can upgrade. Strapp ideally. Strapp - Keep. Best LB in the league. Although we should be less reliant on his throw ins whenever we get into the opposition half. Blues - Release. 5 years now and probably time for an upgrade. Runs about a lot but lacks quality. Thanks for the effort but we can do better imo. Gillespie - Release. Think next season will be one too many. Better than expected and probably our best penalty taker that I can remember but we can upgrade. Power - Keep. Probably. As a squad player but I think has probably done enough to merit another year. McGrattan - Release. Shame it hasn't worked out this season as there's absolutely a player there but I think his confidence is low and we haven't seen it this year. He'll probably want to go anyway and get regular minutes. I reckon he'd be a strong League 1 player. Garrity - Keep. I reckon a decent option and has contributed well since January. Muirhead - Keep. 15+ goals and assists speaks for itself. He shouldn't be unsubbable though and does need genuine competition for when he's not playing. But be silly to get rid with those amount of goals in the Championship. Crawford - Keep. Similar to the above. Competition needed for his place. But when he's at it, he's great. Just needs more consistency. Quitongo - Genuinely don't know but probably Release. Don't think we can afford to have him play 15 games a season. Seems to have lost the pace / confidence with the amount of injuries. Oakley - Keep. Obvious reasons.
  6. That was shocking. Lucky to get away with a point in the end. No composure at all in midfield and we didn't win a 2nd ball all game. We were decent for the first 20 minutes with Garrity doing well but after it was appalling. Playoffs are gone now and I reckon with 6 points ahead of Inverness and effectively Queen's Park (with their goal difference) we should be safe from 9th, especially with those two playing each other at the weekend. A real disappointing end to the season considering where we were after the home game v Airdrie. Wouldn't go as far as say we've bottled it but that's two seasons in a row now under Imrie we've got into a good position and not kicked on. We're a pretty terrible team to watch in general and nothing tonight changed my mind in terms of this squad needing a bit of an overhaul and restart next season.
  7. Is French not a centre back? I'm sure when he played against us last year that's where he played. Might be a case of not getting the best out of him because he is playing out of position...
  8. As soon as the first goal went it we were never getting anything out of that. We are so bad once we go a goal down and can never recover. Fucking appalling from Power and I thought Mullen should have done better. He sort of palmed it into the tip corner. Broadfoot was the worst player on the park though. Closely followed by the rest of the back 4 and Power. He was bullied all game by Todorov, kept going for balls he had no chance of winning, running out of position like a headless chicken. He's done and infuriating that Imrie can't see that. Waters is honking. French's positional sense is so bad. Another ineffectual performance from Crawford. Time for a spot on the bench now. Quitongo and Garrity to start on Tuesday please. The whole afternoon was just fucking woeful. Even our goal was incredibly shit. They are a decent side with a good press but all three of those goals were avoidable. Too many players not good enough and I'd be going for a big clear out in the summer. Likes of Waters, Broadfoot, French, Blues & Power should all be upgraded. Also a note on that racist arsehole too that Toby mentioned above. Utterly appalling and I'm glad that one guy told him where to go. Hopefully he can be identified and banned from future Morton games. Disgusting.
  9. I listened to a podcast with Muirhead last year (Kilmarnock fan one I think) and he suffers from a severe stammer so doesn't do any interviews.
  10. That Broadfoot performance was laughably bad. O'Connor and Baird is clearly our best CB partnership. It's been rubbish for weeks now. Players have not got a clue. 5 losses in a row. 1 goal in 7. Muirhead missing the penalty sums his 2024 up but Crawford missing from about 2 yards was embarrassing. He's also been someone that's not had much criticism but he's been off it for months. Imrie needs to do something different tactically wise as teams just stick a player either side of Oakley and that's the whole plan fucked. Bit of a must win next week.
  11. Utterly appalling and that one's on Imrie for his team selection/formation. Gillespie in an attacking midfielder role and French in CDM ffs. That starting XI has absolutely no pace and it showed with getting into their half about 4 times in the whole 1st half. Stupidity from Power for the 1st but it was coming. For some reason we were dicking around playing cute little passes and we'd had a few warnings before the goal. Especially on a pitch like that just clear your lines. Subs made a difference, especially Bearne who should be playing more. He has pace and can run at a defence and so unlucky with a great header off the bar. Bizarre he's not been playing more. Better option than Gillespie/Blues/Crawford out wide. Not good enough and we're utterly toothless without Oakley with Muirhead putting in a shocking performance. I'm hopeful that once Oakley is back we will be fine but we could have really made the playoff spots ours in the last few weeks but we're now back to a proper battle. Hopefully ICT continue to be shite and keep us away from 9th.
  12. I think for the minimal game time he's had this year, he's done well overall. Not much you can do when you're getting 10 minutes cameos here and there. Must be worth getting him back in with McGrattan and Quitongo severely off form and Blues (albeit he's been OK) never being a wide player. He's got pace and a good delivery so should be getting more gametime but for some reason Imrie doesn't fancy him. He put in the ball that won us a penalty v Dunfermline, assisted away to Arbroath and was probably our best player that day and sure he did well in the two cup games beforehand. Then got bombed out never to be seen again.
  13. That was rubbish. Constant hoofs which Gallagher and Holt lapped up. We're just a bit shit without Oakley and our pressing game seems to have disappeared. We need a Plan B until Oakley comes back, whether that be a change of formation. I'd like to see Bearne get a chance. He had a good spell in December time and then was suddenly bombed out and we haven't seen him since. 4th should have been ours but now I'm back to looking at 9th. Partick away next so doesn't get easier.
  14. Decent point and performance. Is that five 0-0s away from home now? Power was the best player on the park. Immense.
  15. We got noticeably worse when Waters and Broadfoot came on. The downgrade from Strapp is mental. Gutsy performance at the end. Crawford and Power were excellent. Massive win.
  16. Frustrating not to win that as we absolutely battered them 2nd half. Oakley has to score but it's a good save from Ferrie. Defensively brilliant once again. Don't think they had a single shot in the 2nd half. Unbeaten run continues and happy enough with a point. To add, I've never seen a team that dive as much as QP. Incredible. Paton spends more time on the deck.
  17. Bring them on. Hopefully Shankland does his hamstring before then (although enough time for him to be back for the Euros!).
  18. The atmosphere tonight was the best I've ever heard it in my time watching Morton.
  19. Was obvious we needed some pace and natural width all game, especially when they went down to 10 men. I thought Blues was much better when he went into the middle but was completely lost out wide. Haven't been impressed with him out wide since he has been there and would much prefer Garrity/McGrattan/Bearne out there instead. 3-0 is a great result regardless of Arbroath's situation and we handled the 2nd half much better. 8 clean sheets in 11 games is bloody impressive.
  20. The game turned when Napier shat the bed with Bannigan's clear second yellow tackle on Blues.
  21. Agreed. His ability to pick a pass in-between the lines has been a real threat to our attacking phases of play. I think the first goal v Ayr for example came from him, not to mention a good assist for the 3rd. He maybe needed time to get back up to speed of Championship football but he's really came on.
  22. Thought Wilson was fantastic. Not much else to report. Bearne a threat as usual when he came on. No idea why he's been bombed out the squad after putting a good string of performances. Decent enough result and we never looked like conceding.
  23. I don't get it unless injuries to Quitongo, Crawford and Gillespie are not as serious as what was appeared. If they're still out for a while, as well as Oakley, then we're only getting a bench of 3 or 4 including Mullen.
  24. Don't see the point in Wilson coming back. Didn't think he was overly good last time and would rather we prioritised other positions. What this means for King as well I'm not sure. Crawford going would be a massive blow. He's instrumental in how we play under Imrie. If it's a like for like replacement with Wilson then it's a massive downgrade.
