  1. Thanks for posting the update @Cappiecat 1.2. I'm Chris and I'm hoping to be active on here and make sure we're taking on feedback and insights from across the fanbase. I'm sure some of you will have noticed we've tried to do that in some areas already over the past few months, with the weekly MCT updates being introduced, which came directly from feedback we kept seeing on here. They'll be more to come from us in the coming weeks as the new MCT board meets for the first time to discuss plans going forward. Your patience around the takeover has been hugely appreciated, it's been frustrating for us too and we're really hopeful it won't be too much longer now.
  2. Dear Members, Hopefully you enjoyed yesterday’s fantastic three points, we certainly did! Having sold out, we are now in a position to announce the amount raised for Inverclyde Foodbank from the sale of our MCT face masks. We are delighted to say that following the sale of 240 masks, we have raised an incredible £700 for the Foodbank! Thank you to everyone who purchased the masks, they have now all been posted and should be arriving with you soon if they haven’t already. This donation should go a long way towards helping some of the most vulnerable people in the local community over the Christmas period, so thank you for helping make that possible. Thanks, MCT Team
  3. Dear Members, MCT, and indeed many fans, had significant concerns over the capacity of the website prior to the game and strongly advised testing its capability. Unfortunately, that was not done, and the harsh lesson was learned in a competitive scenario leaving many of us angry and frustrated as we tried to tune in. Following MCT making our disappointment clear, the club invited us to be part of the discussions regarding the situation. During these discussions we shared our disappointment, and were keen to hear how the club planned to move forward, both with limiting the damage to fans from last night, and seeking a new way forward. You will hopefully all have seen the statement from Greenock Morton Chairman Crawford Rae this morning. If you have not, you can do so here. The key points from Crawford’s statement are: The club have apologised unreservedly for the failure of the match streaming service. All fans who purchased tickets for Tuesday night’s stream will be refunded in full. This process will be done automatically by the club and you will not have to claim. The club believe that the developers have identified the issues that caused the problems and the steps needed to correct them. A test event will be carried out this Saturday to ensure they have found a workable solution ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Queens Park. We are pleased to see that the club have apologised to all fans and indeed committed to refunding everyone who did not get to view the match as intended on Tuesday night. Further details in terms of timings for the test will be provided by the club in due course. Fans will have to re-register due to the new process but we would encourage as many of our members to take part in this test event as possible as it will help ensure that the club can effectively test the system. At MCT, this testing is what we advocated should have happened prior to the Queen of the South game. Unfortunately, that is now in the past and we must look towards the future with the expectation that lessons have been learned. Given the current circumstances, streaming is the club’s main source of income and it is extremely important that the service provided meets expectations to ensure that fans from across the globe can tune in and watch Morton in action. With further Covid restrictions being announced yesterday, we believe this is more important than ever as the opportunity to watch our team play is something that many of us have been eagerly awaiting. Like all of you, we hope and expect to see a successful stream for next Tuesday’s game at Cappielow against Queens Park. Thanks, MCT Team
  4. Morton Club Together will be running an online webinar for those who have yet to join our journey towards community ownership and will answer any questions supporters have for our directors. Click here for full details and to sign up
  5. Another massive milestone has been reached!
  6. Questions and Answers After Community Ownership Announcement Following the announcement regarding community ownership on Wednesday 8th July, we have been asked a number of questions. We have aimed to answer as many of these as possible below. We have tried to group the hundreds of questions we have received into topics. There will inevitably be more questions, so please do continue to ask these and we will continue to provide answers. Cappielow and the Car Park Not surprisingly, many of the questions from the announcement have been around the ownership of Cappielow and, to a lesser extent, the car park. Questions like the lease fee, can we purchase Cappielow, who will be responsible for maintenance and upgrade costs, how long will the lease run, will Golden Casket raise the rent to unmanageable levels, what if Golden Casket sell the land? We will try to deal with all these issues together. The terms of the lease are still under negotiation. What has been agreed is the outline of the deal. The lease fee or annual rent will be minimal. It will NOT be a market value rent. It will be a repairing and insuring lease, which means that the club will be required to maintain the stadium to at least the same standard as it is at present. This does not preclude us from making improvements to the stadium. The lease will run for as long as MCT is the owner of Morton. The lease will preclude any significant increase in rent – it will continue to be a nominal rent for the duration. Insofar as any purchase of Cappielow is concerned, there are numerous legal options that can be pursued in the lease. For example, there could be an option to buy after a certain number of years, or there could be a clause giving MCT first option to buy should Golden Casket ever decide to sell. We are not saying that these will be included, as the fine print is still being considered, but we can assure you that the future of the club at Cappielow will be protected. We will also publish the details of the lease after it is agreed. What if Golden Casket went into liquidation, or through a change of ownership? This is one of the issues we are aware of and will be writing something into the lease to safeguard the stadium. Once the lease is finalised, we will be able to give further details. Maintenance and Upgrades of Cappielow Another popular question was about maintenance and upgrades of the stadium. Who will pay for these? Can we afford them? The current budget for the club contains a sum for annual maintenance. We anticipate that the club will be able to continue to pay this from the budget. As indicated above, the general maintenance of the ground will be the responsibility of MCT as club owners. The cost of upgrades is more difficult to explain. Depending on the nature of the upgrades, and the terms of the final lease, they may fall to be paid by the landlord, the tenant, or a combination of both. Once the lease terms are finalised, we will publish it. It will be a commercial lease which will be registered as normal, and will be available to view. If the club wishes to upgrade the stadium and the landlord does not agree to pay, the tenant can, if the landlord agrees, carry out and pay for the upgrades themselves. Finances We were also asked questions about how much we need to raise to make the club viable. There is no single answer to that question. We have identified a number of areas where savings can be made, but also recognise the need to raise income. It is not as simple as saying “we need to raise £100,000 per year”. If we raise £150,000, that means we can afford to sign more and better players than we could if we raised £75,000. There is no magic number here. The more money we raise, the better the club will be. Significantly, as MCT has no shareholders, all profits will be ploughed back into the club and not paid out as dividends. Shareholders We were asked whether members of MCT are shareholders and can you sell your shares. The answer is no. MCT has been set up as a company limited by guarantee. We do not have shareholders – we have members. As indicated in our terms and conditions, membership is not transferable. Greenock Morton Budget Are we confident that we can run Morton as a viable business – yes. We truly believe that this can be done. As indicated, we have seen the club accounts and are aware of the issues. We do not think that this is going to be easy. We will need the support, financial and otherwise, of large sections of the community. The more people who support us, the easier our jobs will be! We desperately want to see Morton succeed both on and off the pitch. The more help we get, the more likely it is that we will succeed. Will the current MCT Directors remain in place? We serve at the will of the members. Our first AGM is due, COVID permitting, in August. None of the current directors have indicated an intention to resign, and they are not required to resign this year. Some of them are required to resign next year, but can stand for re-election if they wish. We are a democratic organisation, and whether we remain in place after next year will be entirely dependent on your votes. External Investors We have been asked about external sources of revenue. We are at very advanced stages of discussions with a number of people who have expressed an interest in supporting MCT and Morton. It would be unfair to name those parties at present, but we are confident that we will secure this funding to supplement the monthly contributions from members. How many members do we need? There is no magic number. Our membership has increased significantly over the last few days, and we are grateful to all members for their support. The more people who join, and the more money that they contribute, the more money that we can spend on players, ground repairs and upgrades, and other projects that we would like to develop. Is this a done deal? Effectively it is, although both parties have a “get out” arrangement in March. Nobody wants to see MCT fail in their stewardship of the club. If it becomes apparent that we are not ready by March, the deal may be delayed. None of us, including Golden Casket, want to rush into this and then fail. How far can we go under community ownership? That’s an impossible question to answer. We guess that the only answer would be “as far as the supporters are willing to take us”. The traditional football model in UK has been ownership by a wealthy benefactor. Unless you are playing in the English Premiership, there are few of these. When looking further afield, there are numerous clubs in continental Europe (many of them being very successful) who operate under a fan ownership scheme. There are also a number of successful community owned clubs closer to home in Scotland who we can learn from. What if COVID is an issue for longer than anticipated? That is one of the reasons for the option to defer the takeover for 12 months. We live in uncertain times Morton in the Community This is a separate company, but it runs with close ties to the club. The future links with the Community program will be part of our agreement. We will be a community owned club, and we wish to maintain strong links to the community. We do not envisage any huge changes to the relationship with this program and if anything, we will look to strengthen this. Should we look at a business club to generate income? This is a good idea – thanks to the member who asked – and is something we will consider. Will David MacKinnon remain as CEO? We hope to be sitting down with all key employees of Morton in the near future to discuss their roles going forward. As we said in the webinar, we will be fan owned but not necessarily fan run. We will need the assistance of an experienced chief executive to manage the day-to-day business of the club. Is relying on large personal donations sustainable? We believe it can be. Those who are interested are Morton supporters. It is a better financial model, we believe, to ask 6 people to pay £25k each, plus individual member contributions, rather than one person to pay £250k. If you rely on one person to pay £250k, and they fail or decide not to pay, the club is in serious trouble. We will also be planning to take advantage of efficiencies that can be implemented at the club, as well as looking to generate more income commercially. What about the Youth Academy? We see the academy as both another strong tie to the community, and a great resource for producing talent for the first team. There is no doubt that good young players who are acedamy graduates get stronger support from the fans as “he’s one of our own”. We would like to see the academy continue to thrive, but again this will depend on the post-COVID financial position. If a lottery winner wants to buy the club, what happens? MCT would require to hold a general meeting to discuss this offer before accepting it. The money would then be distributed to members on an equitable basis, as decided by that meeting Who makes the decision on viability in March? That decision will be taken by Golden Casket and MCT together. What have we learned from other clubs? I’m not sure that we have enough space on our website to answer that question, we have had an incredible amount of support and advice from so many other clubs that are either wholly or partly fan owned. Say it quietly, but one of the most helpful groups has been the St Mirren Independent Supporters Association. From the launch of MCT, these groups have offered their advice about funding, structure, liaison with the club, marketing, supporter liaison etc. We genuinely could fill a book with the advice given, and everyone at MCT is very grateful for that help. Supporters Trust Members We have been asked why supporters trust shares have to be transferred to MCT. This is not what we said at the webinar. If former trust members, or indeed any existing shareholder in Morton, wish to donate their shares to MCT they can do this by contacting Morton. There is no obligation for them to do so. We will be seeking to contact individual shareholders in Morton after the takeover is completed. Is there a planning restriction on Cappielow? We understand that Cappielow is zoned by the council as a sports facility. Any change of use would require re-zoning. We are not aware of any request or desire to re-zone the land. Will the Rae family still be involved in Morton? We have not made any decisions about the future board membership, and have not spoken to current board members about their interest in remaining with the club. The Rae family has 20 years of experience of running Morton and that experience would be invaluable to us. The same applies to other board members. There will certainly be changes, but we cannot say, at this stage, what those will be. The other side to this question, of course, is “Do the Rae family still want to be involved with Morton?” We will be asking that question soon.
  7. Dear Member, Thank you to those of you who are currently attending our webinar. For all our members, please find below the historic press release outlining tonight's announcement: Morton Club Together (MCT) have tonight announced to their members that an agreement in principle has been reached with Golden Casket, the current owners of Greenock Morton, to take over majority shareholding of the club with effect from the summer of 2021. The agreement reached with Golden Casket, headed up by current club Chairman Crawford Rae, will see the club sold to MCT for a nominal sum. As part of the deal, Golden Casket will also write off the club’s debt in its entirety while retaining ownership of Cappielow to rent it to Morton at a nominal fee. This will mean that MCT will own approximately 90% of the shareholding in the club and in time for the 2021/22 season, Morton will join the growing list of community-owned clubs in Scotland. Speaking about the announcement, MCT Founder and Director, Graham McLennan said, “Our goal has been clear from the outset – we want to move Morton forward. “We want a better team on the pitch. We want a better match day experience for everyone attending Cappielow. We want to listen to the fans and to communicate effectively with all fans, stakeholders, and partners. “We are all Morton supporters; we all want what is best for the club and now is our chance to be that best for the club through community ownership. “In April 2019, MCT was just an idea. Now, with 440 members, we have achieved so much and have an exciting future ahead of us. We would like to thank every single one of our members who has supported us so far. “As we have always said, we encourage Morton fans from everywhere to join us on this journey, and we hope this announcement will encourage many more to come on board.” Over the coming nine months or so, MCT will be working closely with the existing board members and key club personnel to better learn the business of the club and fully understand its operations. MCT Director Stewart Farmer added, “This is a magnificent achievement in a very short period. MCT was formed in April 2019 and has already made significant contributions, both financially and increasingly on an administrative basis, into Morton. “Over the last 14 months, we have had a team of dedicated, hard-working and extremely capable volunteers working around the clock to get us to where we are now.” The agreement is also conditional on both parties, MCT and Golden Casket, agreeing in March 2021 that MCT are in a financial position to run the club in a viable manner. In recent months, negotiations had been ongoing between a third party and Golden Casket, with involvement from MCT, around a purchase of the football club. Despite the terms of that deal being much more financially beneficial to Golden Casket and the Rae family, an offer from the third party was rejected in favour of facilitating community ownership through MCT. Current Greenock Morton Chairman, Crawford Rae, said, “The Rae family’s final act of devotion to the club is to hand it over to the fans, marking their last involvement in the financial responsibility and stewardship at GMFC.” MCT Director Gordon Ritchie also added, “The faith that Golden Casket and the Rae family have shown in all of us cannot be underestimated and we thank them for that. 20 years ago the Rae family saved the club, and now their legacy will be a club at the heart of Inverclyde, owned by the people who love it most, the fans.” To all our members, thank you for all your continued support, without you, none of this would be possible. Should you wish to ask any questions, or provide feedback, please email us at mortonclubtogether@gmail.com. Thanks, MCT Team
  8. £25,000 RAISED DURING LOCKDOWN Morton Club Together (MCT) have today announced that member and one-off contributions since the beginning of lockdown in March have reached £25,000. Reaching £25,000 in contributions during this challenging period is a testament to the dedication of Morton fans to their Club and highlights the significant impact MCT and its members are having. This £25,000 has been made up of 430 members contributing £7,200 throughout March, April and May, as well as £3,400 in one-off donations made by supporters. During this tough time, a number of members have also offered to increase their monthly contributions to MCT. MCT had been contributing a significant monthly sum of £7,000 towards the Morton playing budget. As membership continues to grow, the amount MCT contributes will increase. Between August 2019 and March 2020, MCT contributed £50,000 towards the first team budget. With Greenock Morton announcing that all playing staff are on furlough, MCT’s funds are not currently being passed on to the club as the funds are designed to go towards the first team budget. What that does mean is that the money is being banked and will allow MCT to potentially significantly increase their monthly contributions once football does resume. The organisation is currently on track to have contributed £180,000 towards the first team budget by August 2021. Importantly, every penny raised by MCT will also contribute towards the reduction of the Club’s debt to Golden Casket. With £500,000 being written off at the outset, MCT are well on their way to seeing a second £500,000 written off when £100,000 in contributions is reached. MCT, who are now the Club’s second largest shareholder, aims to contribute to the delivery of a viable, sustainable and successful Greenock Morton Football Club into the long-term future, both on and off the park, for and with the Morton community. The football club have regularly cited the support of MCT as a key part of their dealings in terms of signings and contract extensions, most recently with the likes of Kyle Jacobs and Kalvin Orsi, and earlier in the season with Youth Academy graduates Reece Lyon and Lewis Strapp. In January, MCT announced that they would begin exploration into community ownership of Greenock Morton. While Covid-19 has raised some challenges, they are continuing to pursue this. Morton Club Together Founder and Chair Graham McLennan said, “MCT would be nothing without our members. We thank every single member for their contributions and everyone else who has wished us well and engaged with MCT. “Covid-19 presents challenges for football clubs across Scotland, but the generosity of our members will help the Club be in the best position possible at the other side. I’m incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who have come forward since day one, who together help drive MCT forward and make it a success." Morton Club Together Director Stewart Farmer said, “Not only did MCT contribute £50,000 towards the first team playing budget last season, but we are also on target to have contributed £180,000 by the end of the next season. To have raised £25,000 during this extremely difficult period is incredible and I would like to thank each and every person who has contributed towards this.” Thanks, MCT Team.
  9. Dear Members, Earlier in 2020, Morton Club Together announced our intention to explore the potential of Community Ownership of Greenock Morton Football Club. Since then, MCT have commenced a feasibility study and are working with the club to assess the needs for the potential development of a suitable business plan. The feasibility study focusses on five key business themes that we believe need to be closely examined and incorporated as part of any business plan for Community Ownership. The themes are: - The legal structures required to underpin Community Ownership; - The financial resources required to own and operate Greenock Morton; - The operational resources and needs in running the club; - The commercial opportunities and needs to underpin the business; and - The infrastructure requirements to manage and develop the assets of the club. We have now reached a stage in the process where we are looking to develop our options and look at creating a professional and coherent business plan.MCT members share a common goal of seeing Greenock Morton become a successful, healthy and thriving club that we are proud to support. As we have said before, MCT is presently run by a small and committed number of members who dedicate their time, skills and effort to help us to achieve our goals. This team have helped to drive the feasibility to the present position. However, we are keen to bring on board any member who may have the key skills we need as we embark on this next phase of the study. In particular we are seeking members who may have skills and experience in the following areas: - Experience and qualifications in accountancy and/or financial planning; - A background in ICT in terms of system administration; - A background in HR and key modern business requirements such as GDPR and good governance structures; - A background in Health & Safety with a specific bias towards sports experience; - A commercial product background; - A background and successful track record in third sector grant/financial bid writing. If you think you may have skills and experience that would be helpful to MCT and are able to spare 3 or 4 hours a week then please drop us a line giving us a brief outline of your expertise and how you think you may be able to help us to enquiries@mortonclubtogether.com Thanks, MCT Team
  10. As outlined in the Open Letter to Fans published by Greenock Morton this afternoon, an agreement has been reached with players that will see them placed on furlough. Morton Club Together (MCT) have been in close communication with the Club since the beginning of the current situation and have worked hard alongside them to reach best solution for the long-term sustainability of the Club. The first thing to note, is that the ongoing contributions and additional contributions made in recent weeks have been extremely valuable and appreciated. Since the suspension of football, the club’s cashflow has understandably been significantly affected and the backing of MCT and its members has been vital. With the first team squad now being furloughed, we want to explain how MCT money will be used in the coming months. Since the players wages will be being covered by the government’s scheme, a scheme which will be extremely valuable to Morton, MCT will not be making contributions until the players are off the furlough scheme. Looking ahead to when football resumes, this will put MCT and the Football Club in a much stronger position than would have been possible otherwise. It means that the money that would have been contributed during this time will instead be accrued and will go towards the budget once play resumes, allowing us to potentially increase our monthly contributions by a significant amount. What is also important to keep in mind, is that once football does resume, it may take time for cashflow to reach its potential and therefore the support of MCT towards first team wages will be crucial for getting things back up and running. What this current situation has highlighted is just how important the support of MCT and all of its members has been and will be to the Football Club. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your ongoing commitment and contributions. There are now 430 members of MCT and we have contributed more than £50,000 to the playing budget. Looking forward, we will be on target to significantly increase our contributions to the playing budget once play resumes. We realise this is a tough financial time for many people, but by continuing with your monthly contributions during this time, it will make a massive difference as outlined above. As always, if anyone has any questions at all, please do get in touch. You can do so by emailing enquiries@mortonclubtogether.com and we will be happy to answer any questions. Finally, we would just like to offer one more sincere thanks to each and every one of you and say that we hope you and your families all stay safe during this difficult time. We can’t wait to be back at Cappielow once play resumes and your support helps ensure that we will still be able to do that once this is all over and long into the future. Thanks, MCT Directors Graham McLennan, Stewart Farmer, Gordon Ritchie and Ivor McCauley
  11. MCT Funding Contributes to Jacobs’ Contract Extension Morton CEO David MacKinnon has confirmed that support from MCT allowed the club to extend Kyle Jacobs’ contract beyond the end of the season. The CEO also commented that MCT’s backing has had a positive impact upon the club’s recruitment policy as a whole; “Following the contract extensions of academy graduates, Lewis Strapp and Reece Lyon, Kyle Jacobs is the first senior player to commit to the club for next season and beyond. We’re working hard behind the scenes to build a squad for the long term, and are hopeful in bringing in one or two new faces during what’s left of the window. Without the support of the Club Board and MCT members, this signing strategy would not be possible and we’d like to thank each MCT member for their support. Every penny raised goes directly into Hoppy’s first team budget and we greatly appreciate your commitment.” MCT is committed to allowing Morton to build a first team squad geared towards stability and ultimately, success. We welcome our contribution allowing a greater level of continuity within the first team squad. Every single pledge we receive helps boost Morton’s first team squad and helps to reduce the club’s debt. We are striving towards a successful Morton team on-the-pitch, with a secure long-term future off-the-pitch. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single Morton fan who is helping to move Morton forward.
  12. Dear Members, It has now been almost three weeks since we announced our intention to explore the feasibility of community ownership of Greenock Morton. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of our members for their ongoing support. Over the last month or so, we have seen an approximate 10% increase in membership which has been a great boost. We have now begun the nine month exploration/planning project regarding community ownership. A meeting has been arranged early in February via Supporters Direct Scotland, where we will sit down and learn from other clubs such as St Mirren, Hearts, Dunfermline and Motherwell who have gone through community ownership projects. We will continue to keep our members updated with our progress and plans. As previously mentioned MCT have also commenced our formal feedback loop with the club where we will raise members’ comments or questions with Morton to help ensure that our voice is heard and respected. We want to develop the loop into a ‘You Said, We Did’ forum so that we can best represent your views to influence change at the club. We can now share with members the club’s responses to the initial twenty-eight points raised with the club. The first loop has taken longer to complete than anticipated. We intend to ensure that the process from raising a point to receiving a response will quicken. We also hope to improve the layout and format of the loop in the next editions as we realise that this communication is quite lengthy. We have included in the following pages the points raised by members and the direct response from the club. If you did raise some points with us directly or through our survey hopefully you may spot your comments! In addition to some of these points raised we have followed these up and offered to club some additional assistance around matters such as communications; the development of the new website and need for the clear communication of a long-term vision. These are items which we believe MCT has the skills and passion in our member base to assist the club. The club have responded to say that they will take advice and assistance from MCT on these issues when this is required. There are a number of responses to items in which the club are keen to deliver improvements in the near future. It is positive to hear this from Morton and MCT will keep a close eye on these items to help make sure that outcomes which are committed to being achieved actually happen in the right way. The second feedback loop will be issued to the club during the week of 27th January 2020 as we have had some additional points raised by members. If you do have any question or suggestion for the club then please feel free to email enquiries@mortonclubtogether.com by 7pm on Tuesday 28th January 2020 and we will include this in next weeks loop. View the feedback loop update here; https://mcusercontent.com/bed32e84e49e39393352f8d72/files/3ec26a2f-b3d8-4ca3-a270-5558558f3fa6/MCT_Feedback_Loop_26.1.pdf Thanks, MCT Team
  13. In response to the current situation with the club, we have implemented a feedback system with the club to give us an official process in addressing our concerns as an organisation, and any feedback from our pledgers. This is from the most recent pledger update that was e-mailed to members on Friday; We can also confirm that we do not receive any 'freebies' from the club. All MCT members pay into all Morton games. In response to your point 'Are MCT happy with how things are going on and off the park at the moment? If not, why not? If so, why so? Is it unreasonable for me to suggest they’re not doing anything other than handing Crawford a cheque every month to do what he pleases with it?'. We are not in the position we would hope to be in, but there is a lot more to MCT that simply improving results in the short term. We are still on course to substantially reduce the club's debt, this will help achieve our long term aim to secure the future of the club for seasons to come. We'd also like to emphasise that we do not simply hand Crawford Rae a cheque every month. Our contribution is required to be used exclusively to supplement the first-team budget. We, as an organisation, aim to strike a comfortable balance between gaining accountability as to where our contribution is going and trusting the judgement of the manager and backroom staff. I'd also like to reiterate that MCT do not, and will not seek to, have any input into the club's recruitment or recruitment policy. In response to the point regarding another 'Save the Ton' campaign, we believe that prevention is better than a cure. The more successful and pro-active MCT is now, the further away we get from that particular scenario. While the short term may bear frustrations, our fundamental aim is to produce a debt-free Morton are we are taking strides towards that. In response to your further post regarding the status of our 'Members Only' events, these events are one of the exclusive benefits of pledging to MCT. We have also held events open to any and all Morton fans, and we plan to organise more of these after the busy festive period. We would love to see you, and anyone else with questions for us, at one of these events to discuss the benefits of MCT further. Thanks, Dean.
  14. Good afternoon everyone, Time for an update on all things MCT. The biggest piece of news is that MCT's representative (as chosen by the Leadership Team), Graham McLennan, attended his first board meeting on Thursday. We are looking forward to working closely with the Morton board to move Morton forward and ensure the views of the fan-base reach the very top of the club. The legalities surrounding written confirmation of the Share Transfer Agreement are still in process and should be tied up soon, we will endeavour to update all pledgers when this is confirmed. In terms of moving forward, we are close to breaking the £200k mark for converted pledges. This is a very significant milestone as it takes us halfway to our goal of £400k. If you have pledged but have not yet converted, you can help move us closer to that target. Please e-mail us (enquiries@mortonclubtogether.com) if you require assistance with this. We're moving closer to achieving our primary aims; improve the current playing squad on the pitch through pledges from the Morton fan-base, while simultaneously working alongside Morton to improve the medium-long term security of the club. We'd like to thank every single person who has pledged thus far, and encourage anyone who hasn't yet pledged to reach out to us. You can reach us via e-mail (enquiries@mortonclubtogether.com), our website (www.mortonclubtogether.com) or through any of our social media channels. We can also advise that, if it is not dealt with beforehand, we will raise the ticketing website issue at the next board meeting, in response to a request made on the Forum recently. Thanks, Dean.
  15. After last night's fantastic comeback under the lights, it's time to give you an update regarding MCT. We were delighted to have Allan McGraw and George Anderson present David MacKinnon with a cheque for £6,000 last night. Please see the picture below of this being presented at half time on the pitch! This is the first of 24 payments that will help you make a difference to David Hopkin's first team budget. We are currently finalising the legalities surrounding an MCT representative on the GMFC board and we will ensure that any updates on this are posted on the Forum and our socials, so keep an eye out! If you've yet to convert your pledge, please do so as quickly as possible! Check your e-mails for instructions to (quickly and easily) convert your pledge. If cannot find the e-mail or have any other questions/issues please get in touch with our pledges team. If you've yet to pledge, this is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the short, medium and long term success of Greenock Morton. Your pledge not only gives an immediate boost to our first-team recruitment, but helps us shape the future of the club too. We want to unite the Morton support, stride for continued improvement on and off the pitch and ultimately create a debt-free, successful Morton. If you have any questions about any aspect of MCT, please reach out to us via the Forum, our socials or through e-mail and a member of our team will get back to you. We need your help to move Morton forward, together. Thanks, Dean.
  16. A link should be in your inbox. If you can't find it or have any issues then please e-mail us. Thanks, Dean.
  17. Hi all, I hope you're all looking forward to the new season. Here is a brief update of the latest MCT developments; We're delighted to have agreed a deal with Golden Casket, and we're now in a position to ask all of our pledgers to check their e-mails and set up their standing orders using the link we've sent you! If you have any issues with this please contact us immediately. Graham McLennan (one of our two directors) will be interviewed on Rock Sport Radio at 7pm this evening! You can listen live at www.rocksportradio.co.uk. Keep your eyes peeled on our socials, we will have some big news in the next week! Thanks, Dean.
  18. To give a brief update on the project; while we cannot go into details due to the non-disclosure agreement, we are closing in. We are now registered as a company and our week by week objectives for July have been met. By next week we aim to have some very positive developments that we will communicate in due course. Keep your eyes across our social channels next week and we will, of course, post all developments on the Forum! Thanks, Dean.
  19. Since the last update, to meet legal requirements for registration as a company, we have now named two directors of MCT; Graham McLennan and Gordon Ritchie. I'd like to reiterate that this does not change anything financially, or the structure of MCT. Both are volunteers and will continue as such. Thanks, Dean.
  20. Discussions and negotiations between MCT and Golden Casket are ongoing. This scenario has been raised in the negotiations. As the negotiations are subject to a non-disclosure agreement, we are very limited in what details we can release currently. Hopefully we will reach an agreement with GC and we will communicate any developments in a timely manner. While I can only speak for myself here, I believe the role of MCT is to plan for every possible outcome surrounding the future of the club. The shares will be gifted from Golden Casket to MCT and the shares will be in MCT's name. No individuals will be named as shareholders through MCT, everything will be collective. While we do have a loose structural organisation, MCT is built entirely upon voluntary efforts from the Leadership Team and others. We have no directors and as I've mentioned above, nobody is going to be named as an individual shareholder. Thanks, Dean.
  21. The delay was not down to Graham but myself. This week I've moved to Singapore to take a new job, meaning I've had very little time to keep up to speed with MCT developments. Now that I've moved up and my apartment has WiFi I'm back up and running. Apologies for the delay! Thanks, Dean.
