  1. I suppose you could argue that King could have replaced Crawford in the '10' role after his form dipped, but I still think King will have benefited more from spending the season playing regularly for Clyde than he would have been starting 5 games and making 10 sub appearances for us this season.
  2. Player of the Year - I'd have Iain Wilson in 1st place, Ryan Mullen in 2nd place and probably Oakley in 3rd place. Wilson's improved our midfield massively, Mullen has established himself as a good Championship goalkeeper with tremendous distribution, and Oakley has been irreplaceable. 8 goals in 22 league appearances whilst playing as a target man is a very good return as well. Goal of the Season - George Oakley's winner at Tannadice. An absolute screamer. Best Signing - Lewis Strapp. If we didn't sign Strapp, I think we'd currently be in 9th place instead of Inverness. He is better at every facet of the game than Waters IMO. For all we haven't scored a huge amount of goals from his long throws, the panic they cause in opposition defences is always amusing. Worst Signing - Tyler French. The Dundee fans had us thinking we'd signed the next Cafu, but to say he hasn't really found his feet at Championship level is generous. Most Significant Goal - George Oakley's winner at Arbroath. A great turn and finish that not only broke that horrible winless run against Arbroath but also sparked our unbeaten run to life. A real turning point in the season. Best Game - Dundee United 2-3 Morton. Peak 'Big Bad Physical Morton'. Worst Game - Morton 1-4 Partick, Morton 0-3 Arbroath or Airdrie 3-1 Morton.
  3. Quitongo would be one of the first out the door if it was up to me. He has attributes very few at this level possess, but even when he is fully fit he's woefully inconsistent. Wilson and Oakley both have bad injury records, but the difference with those guys is if they're playing twenty games in a season rather than forty, they're going to give a solid contribution in 90% of those matches. Quitongo doesn't have that. Add in his technical deficiencies, lack of game intelligence and poor decision making in the final third and it's an easy decision for me. He's simply a luxury we can't afford.
  4. Here is the state of play for next season: Contracted for next season - Mullen, Murdoch, Baird, Wilson, O'Boy, King, Bearne, Davies. Contract expiring - MacDonald, Strapp, O'Connor, Waters, Blues, Muirhead, Quitongo, Crawford, Broadfoot, McGrattan, Garrity, Power, Gillespie, Oakley. Loans expiring - French MacDonald - Release Strapp - Keep O'Connor - Keep Waters - Release Blues - Keep Muirhead - Keep* Quitongo - Release Crawford - Keep* Broadfoot - Release McGrattan - Release Garrity - Keep Power - Keep* Gillespie - Release Oakley - Keep * I'd be looking for upgrades on these players but I wouldn't be against any of them staying in the correct circumstances. Crawford has really struggled for a large part of the season, Muirhead has blown hot and cold but still has plenty of goals to his name and Power is now at a point where you could argue whether his negative contributions outweigh what he brings to the team.
  5. Imrie was entirely correct IMO. Having two positive passages of play after 10/15 minutes of being under the cosh doesn't mean we should suddenly start trying to force a winner. Given how poor we were in midfield, and the large gap between the midfield and defence for the majority of the match, settling for a point was the correct approach at that point.
  6. It absolutely should not be the chairman deciding that. We're one of (if not the) lowest paying full time clubs in the country. The idea of completing ruling out recruiting older players dropping down from a higher level is absurd.
  7. The majority of them were in Amsterdam for the Scotland game.
  8. Fair fucks to whoever let off the fireworks in the car park at full time. Outstanding work.
  9. Excellent news. I don't think it's a coincidence that our performances and results improved as he gained match sharpness.
  10. I'd be fully in favour of trying to get MacDonald off the books and bringing in a player on a lesser wage to deputise for Mullen for the rest of the season. I'd imagine MacDonald is quite a high earner so if we can use it to benefit us in other positions I'd be all for it.
  11. Even for this dank corner of the internet's standards, this thread is grim.
  12. I'd love to see Iain Wilson signing beyond his loan spell. I'm hoping that come February 1st we're sticking a pre-contact in front of him. He's been excellent in the last couple of months.
  13. Aye, that's a cracking result. Arbroath's form is dreadful at the moment. Terrible wee shame.
  14. I've been to Germany four times and never had an issue, I can only imagine they will be pulling out all the stops during the Euros to ensure public transport runs without a hitch.
  15. Having to travel across a country with great transport and great beer, with your mates, in the height of summer, watching Scotland? I'm struggling to think of a downside.
  16. None of the content is especially harmful, but I've went from having tweet notifications for the MCT account turned on to switching them off because I can't be arsed with my phone flashing up 4/5 times in a 20 minute period with nonsense quote tweets. There's a balancing act in effective social media communication and this isn't it. I'm not suggesting it's a massive issue, more of an irritation, but someone needs told to calm it.
  17. Who has given some random Da the password to the MCT Twitter? Someone has mistaken constant spam for high quality communications.
  18. Wilson has been excellent in the last month or so, if the chance came to sign him permanently I'd be very keen.
  19. He's not a player I'd be overly keen on. For all mitigation can be offered given the manager and the general state of the club at the time, McPake couldn't get out of here quick enough during his first spell. Looking at the options within the squad, we already have Quitongo, McGrattan, Boyd, Bearne and Muirhead capable of playing wide. The idea of adding a 6th option to that list, who has yet to show they can have a meaningful and consistent impact at Chamionship level, doesn't strike me as a good use of a limited budget. One goal every nine games for an attack-minded Queens Park side isn't exactly an inspiring track record.
  20. I'm still expecting us to get through the tie, but the idea that we will be cantering past a solid mid-table League One side in our current predicament is fanciful.
  21. That's a shame. Stewart has always been both knowledgeable and pleasant anytime I've spoken to him. We really do need some high quality MCT candidates to replace outgoing board members such as Stewart.
  22. That used to be the case, but Muirhead's development in the last 12/18 months has been noticeable. He can't pin centre backs and compete as well as Oakley does, but he is now capable of leading the line at this level.
  23. I hope they are struggling at Hampden. It's a disgrace that they are using it at all.
