I always thought Reece Hands should have been a goalkeeper with a name like that!

I wonder if they’d accept a bucket of small notes and loose change for a pair of Sam Ramsbottom pyjamas?

Side point, but as someone else raised the other day, that MCT statement leaping to the defence of the Raes really irked me. I understand they have to maintain working relationships for the next few months, but the language of the thing and tone towards supporters that weren’t sure if their club was about to go under really were not great. Not a knock on MCT’s overall communication, which has largely been good, but I’m still quite annoyed by the whole “How dare you” feel of that statement.
‘Any comparison with the stewardship of Hugh Scott is both inaccurate and deeply offensive.‘
Not my words, the words of MCT!

Haven't seen anything to suggest they aren't still under the spell of GC, happy with the 2 options and that they won't proceed with one of the options anyway.
Their poll, giving just 2 options, will likely have a preferred choice despite the anecdotal feedback that they will probably run with.
Correct. They’ll have already decided how they plan to proceed.

Abso-bloody-exactly.
I drove to Cappielow in my bare feet.
I presented Crawford with a bucketful of money that has been in my possession since 2009. I found it in the back of a taxi after a night out on the ladyboys.
He didn’t take it well, he looked rather pail!
In the end he decided to go with the MCT guy ‘cos he’d been a lifelong Morton fan since 2019.
Shit happens!

How dare you question MCT! Don’t you know the directors have been life long Morton fans since 2019?

We need to be made aware of which option is actually more financially viable?
It's all well and good splurting out options but surely to god the feasibility of these options has to be made more clear by MCT.
I may stand to be correct here.... the implications and extra overheads of owning the ground could be financial suicide. It certainly will add to costs which in turn would take away from the budget of the playing squad.
I always had the belief that 1 of MCTs main focuses was to make the product on the pitch better not contrive to make it worse.
Another Rae arse licker who pretended to be a ‘concerned fan’ for a while. The mask has slipped. Fuck off.

Yes - they've made bad footballing decisions but they've also put hundreds of thousands in (far more than the £2m on the balance sheet, that they are not actually trying to recover).
It would be interesting to know Rae's motives, whether there are tax or financial implications of writing off the debt at GC end. Perhaps in the event of a write off this becomes taxable as GC profits? Or is it simply that he is a businessman and doesn't want to give things away and that the asset could end up as a carrot to tempt another Hugh Scott type into the club.
in terms of control... if Morton went into hardship under option 1 - having no major asset means this would never be any more than a cashflow issue. No lender is going to give us huge amounts of credit as it would be completely unsecured, so I don't believe the actual existence of Morton would at stake.
If Morton owned the stadium, then perhaps relatively tempting to access any credit that was on offer to ease cash flow worries, and things could spiral from there.
Under option 2 - once again, with a £2m debt on the balance sheet... Morton raising substantial commercial finance or share capital is unlikely from anyone that would be expecting their money back. And if the club did go into administration, GC would likely be the largest creditor who would be due the biggest share of any assets - i.e. the stadium. Therefore, once again, much reduced chance of that falling into non-football hands.
You’ve got to be on the wind up you fucking wrong ‘un.

1 hour ago, piehutt said:If anyone thinks Rae's motivation in all of this is personal financial gain, then I'd like to see what they are putting in their sandwiches.
If Rae was looking to gain financially, he'd have walked / sold years ago. They are still paying running costs to keep the lights on now. And Rae is still attending games. If he really didn't care, would he bother his arse?
Personal view is that Rae is concerned a debt free / asset rich business, potentially run by a combination of fan committee and online polls, could quickly get in over their skis and end up mortgaging the property and whatever else. This could likely lead to administration where the whole lot could be sold at a cut down price with creditors effectively making that decision.
I personally think that's unlikely and am positive MCT ownership will create opportunity and enthusiasm, but it's definitely not going to be easy for the club under new owners with not a huge amount of revenue to start with.
With both options on the table, Rae would have an element of control if the club did go into financial hardship, either by being the owner of the asset or by being the primary creditor. I'm personally comfortable with those options if it means MCT take control. I'd rather that than roll the dice on Rae electing to sell to a 3rd party or the club meandering on in it's current state.
Of course nothing is agreed till it's all signed and sealed, but I trust that the MCT board are thoroughly exploring all realistic options for a settlement with GC.
Pull your tongue out of Rae’s arse you weirdo.

One man and his “yacht”
A chap once purchased a yacht in the south of France that he bought off some shyster who was selling it because he got into debt and could no longer afford to run it. The shyster tried to sink it to claim the insurance but decided that that wouldn’t work.
He found somebody who just loved this particular yacht and wanted to buy it no matter its condition, and buy it he did for £450k.
He spent a lot of money, not on the yacht itself to improve its value, but on lavish parties and travelling because that was his thing. He treated the yacht as you would a hobby spending money so that he and his friends could have a good time. This kind of pissed off his family as they could see their inheritance being frittered away while he enjoyed his yacht and his hobby.
But in the course of all this he decided to no longer invest in the yacht and the parties but take out loans to cover his spending on the parties and travelling around. This pissed off his family even more as they were picking up the tab. Especially when he said he would write off those loans whenever somebody took on the yacht after he was gone. Because even he knew that although he had spent vast amounts on his hobby he hadn’t really improved the yachts condition since he bought it. But it was his hobby and he had had some wonderful times with his yacht, as had his friends, and hadn’t minded spending the money. After all it was his money to spend.
Now when it came to pass that he passed on some 17 years later his family decided to recoup the money he had spent on his hobby by inflating the price of the yacht to cover the debt he had accumulated, without any real improvements to the value of the yacht other than inflation, and hoping that they in turn would find an owner who loved the yacht as much as the old man had.
And they did, but you would hope that not having improved the yachts facilities or it’s standing in the marina that the new owners would only pay what the old man paid taking inflation into consideration. That would make the yacht worth around £750k and all the money spend on the hobby would be written off which is what the old man wanted.
You would hope that the new owners, who were buying a pig in a poke, would be sensible enough to either get themselves a good deal or walk away from the deal until the family seen some sense.
This country...
