The entire point of majority fan ownership is to safeguard the club's future, and I'd be telling anyone who makes such a paltry offer as this for 51% to get stuffed. The entire point of majority fan ownership is to safeguard the club's future, and I'd be telling anyone who makes such a paltry offer as this for 51% to get stuffed. 12k a month from a consortium is a complete fucking embarrassment. If that's anywhere near true it's an absolute riddy.4 points

I imagine it's particularly difficult to agree any kind of communication when three of the directors have attempted a low budget Night of the Long Knives on another three this week. Other directors have resigned in the past over trivial bullshit like this stopping anything getting done.3 points

I am absolutely scunnered with this fucking club from top to bottom. The infighting, boardroom bitching and different factions sticking their neb in is nothing short of embarrassing. Unfortunately it is the everyday fan who is getting caught up in this debacle. I honestly have no idea what is happening with my club. Collectively the club and MCT boards need to take a right good look at themselves and individually they need to grow the fuck up, get over themselves and put the club first. For many a year we have went from one shit show to another and quite frankly we are a laughing stick of Scottish football. When will this end and how do we fix it? I honestly have no idea but any suggestions so far have been akin to pissing on a fire with petrol imo. I don't like singling folk out but apparently our Chief Executive was on Sinclair Street having a cigarette 5/10 mins before full time last night which isn't acceptable. As for Murray. He is clearly not up to the job and singling out the young players last night is not on. Take responsibility for your poor man management, tactical awareness and basic fucking common sense and get to fuck out of our club. No wins in 15 is unacceptable. Too many times over my lifetime as a fan we have put a plaster on a gaping wound. The club is fucked and there is a complete feeling of apathy about the place just now. Total reset needed BUT I would have no idea where to start or who to trust.2 points

….and there’s still a belief that the Dalrada money will come through ……. michty me, they are Donald Ducked, no positive on the financials of that company in Uk or USofA, debt, law suits and a crashed stock price ….. got to hope club has no borrowings or iou’s against that promise. Anyone hanging in there on the Brian Bonar promise because ……… ? And another thought …. Kudos to Mr Kelly for facing down the cameras tonight , well done, but do think in current impositions a Director of Club or Owner ….. or indeed someone who’s both should have shouldered that responsibility.2 points

Left with 10 to go after Robertson fired a shot over and the GM was already outside the ground having a fag. Brilliant look.2 points

To be fair, if he was out there trying to figure out how to sack a manager without having the money to sack a manager, then he was probably in the right place at that moment.1 point

Yeah that’s pretty much my thoughts - the devil is in the details i suppose. If this is anywhere close to the truth I would want there to be some sort of commitment to match MCT contributions in order to avoid their shareholding being reduced (something which could be achieved by issuing shares in exchange for funding being put into the club by consortium & MCT). If the 12k/month started immediately then between that, the initial 150k & the FF we would potentially be getting close to plugging the gap left in our budget this season. 144k PA certainly falls well short of Dalrada level money but we would of course have sponsorship & stadium naming opportunities on top of that.1 point

Cheers. ETA I guess we’d need to know how long that commitment would be for and whether other annual payments would be forthcoming, if there would be separate payments made towards infrastructure/stadium improvements, sponsorship, etc. before judging the overall value. On the surface, would 150k plus 144k pa require quite drastic reduction in outgoings to be sustainable?1 point

There's got to be a way to get rid of him even if there's no senior players willing to step up. Bit of a gamble (and assuming anyone would touch the job) but someone coming in with positivity might add and extra couple of hundred to the gate, crowds will gradually drop if we stick with him, etc so the money can be offset somehow. A short term stadium and shirt sponsor until the end of the season would add a bit to the budget too. I don't think he squad is a complete lost cause so there's also an opportunity of a decent cup draw, somehow finishing, 8th, etc. I'd really hope the club are analysing all of these options - sticking with him is just going to harm us even more. Even if they do stick with their charity case business model, the more we get beat the more apathy with grow so someone with a positive attitude that can create some sort of siege mentality could help that too.1 point

With last night's defeat, Murray now has a worse league record (so kindly for him discounting the 5 defeats out of 5 in cups, only one of which was against a side from a higher level) than Kenny Shiels and Gus MacPherson. On league points per game there are only three poorer managers in Morton's history; Allan Evans who was managing during administration, John S Thomson who was an owner who appointed himself as manager then finished bottom of the SFL, and Willie McLean who only managed us in a 10 team top flight. If we lose next week then Murray will have the same record as Allan Evans after the same number of games. An Airdrie defeat today that sees them sack Rankin and want Murray back is our best route out of this, but he's probably arrogant enough to think he's above dropping to League One.1 point

Absolutely nothing against the likes of O'Toole but signing a guy for the first team squad then punting him out to the fifth tier just isn't serious management.1 point

Also pretty depressing that the half time interview was still talking about the main sponsors 'financial challenges' and Tam Cowan. Is the club actually trying to increase review outwith just having a begging bowl out or trying to be a bit more creative in ways to reduce spending? It just feels like we're run as a charity or social club. Any investment is going to want a significant amount of control over the club - it's the only way anything will change so, in that respect, Estralla are right that there needs to be contractual ways of protecting their money (and success by association).1 point

It's not as clear-cut as that though, because despite the continuous neglect of GMFC to recognise this fact, MCT actually invests £150k of capital each and every year. That is not a gift - that capital is just as real as any dreamboat consortium or investor would be expected to offer, just to 'achieve' this level of utter incompetence. We choose to fritter it away on Ian Murray's fever-dream 10th central midfielder and yet another winger: we don't have to though. So there is scope for some differentiation here. If an external party (for whatever reason or background) wants a hands-on running of GMFC, like Douglas Rae clearly fancied years before the crisis hit and he finally stepped in, then MCT could shift some of its capital to invest in facilities - at or surrounding Cappielow - that are of benefit to the club but not owned by the club. The problem is that 'benefactors' (see Dalrada) as well as GMFC think that they have a divine right to MCT capital going towards their ambishun first team project. And with every ridiculous internal leadership struggle at MCT, we are frittering away the opportunity to ever turn that hefty amount of capital into tangible assets. This is why for me the EFG outcome is frustrating. There were absolutely, significant issues with the proposal - and I would need to have seen the mystery article before even considering voting in favour - but it offered the possibility of firmly separating the task of running a professional football club from the complementary roles that MCT could offer. I don't see a dreamboat alternative offer emerging, with GMFC now being fundamentally insolvent and a de facto seaside league outfit to join Queen of the South (£150k annual losses, in the third tier). Instead we are left promoting from within and the whole setup being a pitiful joke. That's what this once-proud club is attracting right now from Scottish football - pity - and that cannot continue. Which fan owned clubs, specifically, are even remotely analogous to our situation? How does the 'model' operate, exactly? But yeah so long as you're only speculating about your dreamboat benefactor scenario based on newspaper fluff, then that's in no way detached from the reality of this football club's predicament. The same approach that had certain folk claiming that EFG would surely return with a better offer after the AGM. Because that's how negotiations work apparently, except no they didn't. I've heard it's actually Elon Musk slapping down readies for a 50% stake, in order to launch all SpaceX craft from behind the WDE. It's only speculation though so don't @ me!1 point

Without Cappielow, we - the owners - have exactly one valuable asset, which is SFA/SPFL membership. Cappielow is expensive to maintain. Cappielow's owners, to cover such maintenance, would charge us rent. I can't see how anything but insolvency would result from that on a long enough timeline.1 point

Here's the issue: MOH has been by far our most dangerous player in this game. But he is (and pretty much always has been at the club) nowhere near a goalscoring position. It is a screamingly obvious waste to put that skill, athleticism and know-how to beat players out wide because 'gubbins wingers R gud'. MOH should be playing in a front two, roasting a centre back and so getting a clear shot at goal. This worse than useless, CV-padding, monumental fraud of a manager can talk about how easy in the eye his team is all he wants: it has absolutely nothing of substance in either penalty box. That's how the game works. He should have been on gardening leave since the EF game, with any combination of Gillespie, MOH or my left bollock with a smiley face on it running the team instead.1 point

Cappielow is not an asset for either GMFC or MCT to provide a stake in. The whole fucking point of the exit deal from the gormless Raes is that the property company is completely distinct from the other two organisations. It's jumping to conclusions (probably similar smears on the other side, to the nonsense 'majority control and owning Cappielow' claims attached to the EFG proposal), but let's be clear: Cappielow as an asset should be off the table.1 point

MCT just seems completely unfit for purpose in its current guise. We need to clear the decks again1 point

MCT (or an individual from it) must've been aware that was coming or already there when they sent that mail. If some of the rumours about who is involved are true there's maybe an issue with the SFA checks depending on who is put forward for the board. Could be linked to the rumours about people who have property (and controversy around some dealings).-1 points
