Would this be 'the MCT' who were against the deal last month, or the other MCT who are pushing it forward now? We'll be needing separate spokespersons for the Real, Provisional and Continuity MCTs at this rate.8 points

Its almost as if all those resignations by people who didn't have egos and wanted to do their best for GMFC suddenly make sense...8 points

The position of McLennan and probably the two ex-players (who should never have been voted on) is now untenable. They have to go.8 points

Delighted to see the adults in the room are keeping it professional and not personal. If only the club's bank balance was as inflated as the egos involved we would be one of the biggest shows in town.4 points

What a massive red flag that is again for me. Why is everyone working on behalf of Estrella or their interests so bad at this. A week before the AGM it would have taken something pretty catastrophic for me not to vote yes on the deal. I don’t know Dean personally other than a few conversations over the years but if you’re asking me who I trust more to have the best interests of Morton then there’s only one winner.4 points

What an absolute clusterfuck this all is. How can a club with a hardcore fan base of less than 2000 people not band together to work for the common good without letting egos and agendas get in the way? I've been wanting fan ownership to work from day 1. From the outset, a lot of what MCT achieved when take the club over from the Raes was great. Debt cleared, ownership of Cappielow etc, all great work. Now I'm seriously doubting if it is actually sustainable in the current format, even if moving to a part-time status.3 points

Tam Francis is must be wondering what the hell is going on around him. McLennan should be ashamed of himself. Aside from the fact he clearly hid his true intentions in order to be voted back onto the board, he is partially responsible for bringing this group to our door. A group who, in his own words, are currently threatening to sue us. That he can’t see the danger they represent is frightening.3 points

Assuming this originated from Graham McLennan (since it names all other MCT directors with the exception of newly elected Thomas Francis). 2 of his stated “immediate priorities” in the candidate bio were Communication (with an emphasis on transparency), and Togetherness. Yet this message shows him working (apparently in lockstep with 2 other newly elected directors) to try and oust 3 other MCT directors. This is completely at odds with his stated priorities. Personally I would be calling for the resignation/removal of McLennan, McMaster & Anderson before anyone else. Would these guys even have been elected in the first place if they had been fully transparent on their views of the EFG deal, hostility toward existing board members & intent to work together in concert?3 points

Do you know how bad at this you need to be for me to have any sympathy for Graham Barr. It’s 100% clear no matter what that after this that half the MCT board need to go. Theres no way it can continue with that divide amongst them to the point they are briefing against the others to get them removed. What is the process for removing directors? Is it a vote of no confidence? How many members need to do that for it to go to a vote?3 points

I think it’s disingenuous to suggest that people at the EGM either online or in person were foaming at the mouth over a potential bid from a random consortium no one knew anything about. The resolution put forward was to delay the Estrella vote and explore any new potential negotiations while allowing Estrella to keep their offer or return with a revised offer. Given the amount of red flags that happened on both sides over that weekend and on the night of the AGM especially, and the lack of information/trust that the members had (one side was lying and we didn’t know who) then the only viable option was to delay the vote, as shown by the near unanimous yes vote in the room and on the zoom call.3 points

I think it's important to try our best to promote ways of coming together and drop the infighting. In that sense I'm very happy for Estrella/GM's MCT to put forward a proposal for us to vote on so that we can move forward, one way or the other. If it's what's in Morton's best interests then they should demonstrate that in a positive way. And if they want it to pass then they'll need to work in a much more reconciliatory manner than they have done so far.2 points

I didn't vote for GM because it would be bringing too much old business back into the room (surprise!), and didn't vote for McMaster because his youth revolution obsession belongs back at Port Juniors. There were other candidates who didn't get voted in, so it's a problem that MCT voting members really have to own too.2 points

By the way, I voted for McLennan based on his three-point plan of Communication, Working Structure, and Togetherness. There's a mug born every minute.2 points

Well that satisfies the doubts I had about Maclennan a lot changes in a few hours. This is Dalrada all over again. Only invest if person A, B & C are part of the board. If Estrella are dictating who is on a board they should be shown the exit. If they are threatening legal action against MCT then they should be to GTF too. They are doing nothing to get people on side & yet requesting yet more board changes when stability is needed.2 points

So it's easy enough to work out who that's come from. What an absolute shambles. Rattling on about the democracy that MCT is built on, while in the same statement calling for people to force the removal of directors cos he doesn't like them.2 points

Perhaps it will share some home truths about the 'local consortium' option, in between announcing an even bigger, glorified charity bucket than the one that we're passing around now.2 points

This is the crux of the matter for me. A combination of our own failings during due diligence (including what they're now going to sue us for, hilariously, if we don't roll over and beg for them) plus general impatience meant that some of the shine had come off Estrella prior to that weekend. But it was the weekend and especially the unhinged rant at the start of the AGM that had, as you say, almost the entire present membership wanted to hit the pause button based on that. It's not to say Estrella were the only ones who aroused suspicion that night. There are plenty of problems here at home as well. But how many left the meeting thinking "oh gosh, if only it had gone to a full vote." But the email is so disingenuous: Yeah, why didn't it go to a full member vote? Because we didn't want it to! Because it was clear to all present that we were in no shape to vote for it regardless because of the blaring sirens going off all around us, based on your conduct, Van der Valk, as well as ours! As for "allowing the suggestion" that Estrella would secure majority control, yes, that was a daft concern, but you know what? It's a member's organization and some members are going to be misinformed and ask silly questions. We "allow" that and we discuss it because that's the nature of a democratic organization. I'm sure it would have been more advantageous for Estrella if the entire meeting was just the 30 minute rant - which, by the way, if anything was to be "disallowed", it should have been that - followed by rubber-stamping, but that's not how it works, and the fact that they think it is means there can never be a working relationship between Estrella and MCT, which is why I'm voting "no" regardless of what the new Investment Agreement says about the matter. At this point administration and relegation are far preferable to selling the family silver to these guys for the sake of another couple of seasons of mid-table Championship football. A clean slate and a sustainable future. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there's a huge groundswell of the members who didn't bother their arse attending who wanted to keep it going on the night and vote in Estrella, in which case it shouldn't be too hard for the several hundred of them to answer the 'rallying cry' and fulfill McLennan's manifest destiny.1 point

Yes, as long as they're in agreement and you aren't just sticking names down1 point

Apologies. I was going by company law, not the AOA as ZiI should have. Silly mistake on my part Also, one person can make the proposal, with 100 members names attached, rather than all making it independently1 point

As shocking as I find this message to be, I’m glad it has come out as it shows McLennan, McMaster, Anderson & EFGs true colours. All 4 need to get as far away from the club & MCT as possible.1 point

What a strange combination of whiny self-serving drivel, sympathy-seeking and backstabbing. It's like a petty MAGA political speech and a "Pm me hunni xx" level facebook post rolled into one. If this is the sort of behaviour to be expected from someone who views himself as our white knight then we might as well start filling out our newco registration forms now.1 point

Draft the resolution, and then, Under the Companies Act 2006, members holding 5% of voting rights can formally require the Board to call a General Meeting. This is done by sending a written request signed by the members. The Board must call the meeting within 21 days.1 point

I think everything before and after the vote has proven that delaying it was the right call, but attaching the other bid wasn't in my view. My issue is that from my interpretation of the meeting, the Estrella offer (which for all its faults and unsuitability to be put to a vote) existed on paper and followed extensive due dilligence, and the mystery consortium (which very much didn't) were treated by many in the rooom as basically equivalent. As for the foaming, a few comments amid the chaotic discussion certainly crossed that threshold for me, including one I've mentioned before where one member started asking which of the 10 businessmen would get first dibs on replacing Dalrada on our kits1 point

Unless by ´stability´ you mean continuation of the current clusterfuck, it will not be achieved with the current compositions of both boards. Wholesale clear-outs of both are urgently needed1 point

Afternoon At a meeting on Friday and after a huge among of work prior by me and George A and John McM, the MCT Board asked me to try to stop Estrella taking legal action against MCT Ltd AND try to get them back to the table if they had any wish to continue to explore investing in our Club Easy stuff then After battling the challenges you could expect at MCT Board, with respect to democracy and incompetence, with the ongoing support of John McM and George A and the feelings of Estrella’s anger, disappointment and astonishment obviously clear and understandable at the way they have been treated by the MCT and Club Boards, I have achieved success in a task which even I felt was impossible I have now achieved a written statement which has been agreed by both MCT and Estrella and will go out to all MCT Members some time today (subject to the ability and willingness of people like David Whitton and Dean McKinnon to do what they say they will do) I have also achieved a written confirmation from Estrella that when the statement is emailed to all MCT Members, they will cease any plans to take legal action against MCT Ltd (primarily due to a breach or breaches of the NDA in place between Estrella and MCT, and because of the related reputational damage that they believe this has caused Estrella Football Group) The email will show all that Estrella is back at the table This is partly in the condition that I lead the project with Estrella from now on. It’s a shame that my several offers of help to the then MCT Board in February and March were ignored. Three of that then MCT Board are still MCT Directors…. COULD I PLEASE ASK YOU When the email comes to you, you may wish to call for the resignation or sacking of David Whitton, Brian Farren and Dean McKinnon The damage they have caused and cost our Club and MCT is immeasurable Hundreds of thousands of pounds Financial and reputational damage. All avoidable Estrella refuses to work with them And their inability to get a proposition to and through a Member vote over a period of around 9 months from end November 2025 to mid August 2026 is metaphorically and potentially literally criminal And me getting Estrella back onside is a task that I could have achieved in perhaps 60 minutes had it not been for barriers put in my way by Whitton, McKinnon and Farren. Primarily IMO to save themselves and their own face Over the weekend and into this week I have been working on this Full time I am knackered But I’ll be OK Not good enough and these three people are getting in the way of the emergency response of people like George A, John M, myself and many others INCLUDING ESTRELLA from saving our Morton!!! They need to go and you and other MCT Members must act to make sure that happens! NOW please Of course, George, John and I have formally asked them to resign a good week ago. They haven’t even responded to us and if they say “no” which they will, we’d need to have an internal Board vote which requires a unanimous decision and that just won’t happen As they continue to protect themselves and put that and themselves in front of our Club and our community Only a mass movement by MCT Members will achieve them gone immediately and that’s something I can’t and won’t be able to lead on Please it’s over to you and your fellow MCT Members And now. Graham Barr on the Club Board A disgrace Estrella will not work with him He needs to go NOW Again this is down to you and your fellow MCT Members He stated at the MCT AGM on 17 August that he would resign if Estrella are voted in by the MCT Members That’s a selfish and shocking and stupid thing to say. Exactly what one would expect Barr to say But more importantly and crucially, that sort of statement strikes at the heart of MCT and the democracy it is built upon To influence in any way such a clean and objective process and democracy is not acceptable and is insulting to MCT Ltd, MCT Members, Estrella and our Club and entire community The fact that he has done this means that we cannot have a proper democratic process with him in place as a Club Director and MCT Rep on the Club Board. As MCT Board is about to write to Members to celebrate the fact that Estrella is still keen to invest in our Club (and play a big part in saving our Club) we cannot have an MCT Rep on the Club Board like Barr talking down formally and in public this very rare and unique opportunity And he needs to be replaced immediately on our Club Board To avoid any doubt and while it’s not for me to make this decision, I’ll do it! So please wait for the email and then alongside your fellow MCT Members and friends please act strongly and quickly and together to clear the way for a chance for our Club to survive and thrive We are running out of time ️ Love to all1 point

remain baffled (wasn't in the room) by the kind of collective hysteria that appeared to grip that meeting when the 'local consortium' was mooted. To call the details vague does a disservices to vaguery, and yet people in the room were spending the money already and revelling in their ability to tell EFG to ram it seemingly safe in the knowledge the Ton Ten were going to bail us out. I suspect legal advice would caution that that isn't possible1 point

Reading that email this morning reminded me of a phrase that was used on here a lot a few years ago. Word Salad.1 point

Every other comms email in the last year has been signed by the MCT communications director who sent it. Be good to know which director(s) specifically approved of this one because it reads as an apology for not having voted them through already. I can't believe we're still talking about Estrella, after them briefing members who are not MCT directors behind the scenes and nuking the AGM with their huffy statement by proxy. So for transparency, full ownership of this message needed.1 point

Noticed on the club website that Borge Thorup has passed away. RIP. I remember him playing in that epic 3-3 game against Celtic. He was a big guy, playing right back, against another big guy, John Hughes, who was playing outside left. I'm sure both of them ended that game covered in bruises. What a battle. Condolences to his family an friends.1 point
