  1. Anyone trying to take MCT to court, knowing full well the financial restrains on the club atm, doesn't have Morton's interest at heart. Selfish to no end. If you're reading, please get a grip! For everyone's sake.

  2. Pretty sure that's the 'Transfers Scotland' guy on twitter. Guy is a bell end.

  3. Think someone with the same name used to masquerade as an 'official' GMFC facebook account too.

  4. Whomever is planning on taking the MCT board to court knowing that any cost will be taken out of members and FANS pockets needs to take a right good look at themselves.

  5. I think we need to be very careful about naming anyone on here regards to the legal action. We can all search back and see what has been said by certain people in the past, but whoever is behind the legal action, I expect they wouldn’t be able to comment (for the same reasons MCT didn’t give any comment on the matter). We don’t want to open the forum or ourselves (or by extension MCT if any posters are members) to allegations of cyber bullying/witch hunt type behaviour.

  6. are you talking about people figuring out who this guy is, or are you suggesting that this is part of something bigger that’s going on? How is this related to MCT? Sorry I'm not being disingenuous here I’m just finding your posts about this a bit vague and would really like to understand what you are getting at

  7. I’m sure I will have missed some stuff but off the top of my head the main points covered were - 1. MCT has been notified that an individual intends to take legal action against them. For obvious reasons no more info could be disclosed or questions answered, but it was stated that the legal costs, and any other payouts if the verdict goes against MCT, would need to be covered by MCT funds (so in other words would come at the cost of payments to the club). 2. Update on the first few months in role for the newly elected MCT board, and on the changes to the club board since the last meeting. 3. Dalrada funding - due to end after next season. Next seasons funding will be reduced to £288k. This sum is dependent upon renewals of certain players contracts which had an extension option. 5 out of (I think 8 or 9 in total) are ones that the club are in control of (eg if we take up the option then the players cannot opt out) and Murray has said he wants to take up all 5 of these. Depending on the outcome of the other pending renewals, the funding may decrease. Even if we only end up renewing the 5, the total amount will still be significantly above the going rate for a main sponsor at our level. It was stated that the gaffer also has a playing budget for next season which is independent of this arrangement. When asked why Dalrada are pulling funding, the major reason given was that Brian felt there had been a lot of negativity about the sponsorship and that it was a good time to end it (I highlighted that people were grateful for Dalradas involvement and that the negativity was about his insistence on Laird & Robinson being in place, and on how wasteful the spending had been, leaving us with nothing to show for the money spent). Also next season Dalrada will only have home shirt sponsorship so there’s an opportunity for the club to find new sponsors for 2nd kit & stadium naming. Hope was also expressed that we might be able to get Dalrada back to the table - either to reconsider and extend beyond next season, or to put some funding into capex projects like stadium development (so that a lasting legacy would be there). 4. Cappielow 150 - creation of a new fund & money raising campaign to do some upgrades on Cappielow in time for the 150th anniversary of the stadium in 2029. Also some good updates here from Paul Farren on work that’s being done to make maintainence & upkeep costs more predictable and ensuring they are fully budgeted for). 5. External funding/potential sale of GMFC shares. The company was not named but it was stated that the investment was “significant, but not quite Dalrada levels”. It was mentioned that the company is involved in the sports management/analytics space and that more details will be disclosed in the next 1-2 weeks prior to a member vote on the proposal in early March. Obviously more information has come out since then in the tele and via the Estrella website and socials.

  8. We've literally just had a group whose promises (e.g. innovative energy efficiency - upon entry to GMFC) and pledges to be around for a long time have dissolved into nothing. The key for me in judging risk is the degree to which our operating budget is tied to external funding - by chucking two year deals at players etc. If it is a lesser degree, then we can ruthlessly adjust the wage budget each summer (which is by far the biggest outgoing) and can also postpone any non-essential infrastructure spending. I would also like to see MCT build up its own reserve fund to cover any potential cashflow issues, but that would be a long-term goal. The other fundamentals such as ownership of the ground are not in question. Linking external funding to first team spending was a crucial weakness of the Dalrada deal in my view - though the off-ramp provided for the next 18 months should be appreciated as a final act of goodwill from Dalrada. Having that off-ramp from Dalrada and a potential opportunity to pursue is the best possible outcome given the circumstances. One slight bugbear was that the new proposal was described as providing 'revenue' - which was quite possibly a slip of the tongue, but an important one. GMFC needs capital investment from external partners which MCT also provides each year. For any partnership to work, all sides need to treat funds as an investment in the long-term development of the club - not as a sinking fund for the first team squad. Increasing revenue is the task of GMFC - through expanded and improved commercial operations, prize money from competitions etc.

  9. Good to see Robertson play 90 mins for EK & get an assist in their win against Edinburgh at the weekend. Hopefully more of the same for the rest of the loan and he comes back to us ready to kick on and play a bigger part next season.

  10. A 6-pointer against a team who are breathing down our necks and have shown a bit of a new manager bounce, yes it was a massive win. Championship games rarely ever get more than a passing mention in the papers. How exactly are column inches in the national press even remotely relevant to the importance of any given game for us? Undoubtedly a massive missed opportunity. What I’ve been saying all along (and still stand by) is that there was an over-reaction to the stenny result (in particular the ridiculous claims that 2 weeks of coaching from Murray was somehow the root cause of our inability to defend corners). At no point have I claimed that it was anything other than a terrible result. Ideally we could do both, but if you want to compare the 2 then I think that staying up is multiple times more important than having a run in the Scottish cup. Happy to agree to disagree on that one. not sure who said this but it wasn’t me. If you are intent on proceeding with this ridiculous attempted non-argument then at least try and find some things to disagree with that I have actually said. So you think that the literally thousands of Morton supporters who don’t post on here have stopped following Morton because we got knocked out by Stenny? You’ve lost me on that one … I can’t understand why you continue to try and keep this discussion (if it could even be called that) going when there’s clearly nothing to talk about. Happy for you to red dot me and post another rambling vacuous response in a few days time - I hope it makes you feel better. I have nothing more to say on the matter and am getting bored by this so knock yourself out and have the last word then let’s let this thread die - it’s fucking embarrassing.
